Great find!
An exceptional value great inserts. This was a project of replacing wear out old threaded inserts. I’m attaching photos to show the new inserts side by side with the old replaced ones. There are various tools to complete this job. You can use an M8 Allen Key That fits perfectly at the top of the insert but use extreme cautious screwing into hard wood especially if it’s for installing inserts for the first time. If using the correct size drill for the pilot holes you’ll have no problem installing the inserts with just an Allen Key. The best way to assure the inserts will not break during the installations is to use a long screw with two locking nuts on top of the insert and using a wrench to fasten them into the hard wood – see attached photos. Overall, it is a great value and an excellent choice for completing any DIY projects. It was easy to find the best fit thanks to the detailed specs provided by the vendors, easier then going to the big box stores. For an extra assurance I picked the Flanged ones for added strength at the top Hex area. Please note that these inserts are mainly for soft wood projects, but can be used on hard wood with a proper installation.

Very easy to use and effective
I used these for two projects so far. I wanted to add castors to a workbench, to raise it and make it mobile at the same time. I took a couple of pieces of 2x4 cut to the width of the bench and inserted 16 of these, 4 per caster. I was then able to screw the 2x4s to the bench and then bolt the casters to the bottom of the bench. Very secure. The second application was securing a mailbox. I wanted blind fasteners but I didn't want to have to rely on wood screws. I cut a piece of 1/2" plywood to fill the gap under the mailbox I chose and drilled it to match the mounting points and added inserts. I screwed the plywood onto my mailbox post and could then bolt on the mailbox. it is so much easier to use the bolts than to try to start screws while reaching to the back of the mailbox. And the mailbox is much more secure. The flanged bolts I used won't pull through.

Fix furniture and other wood products.
My wife is a librarian who has kids and teachers breaking furniture in the library. These have allowed me to repair several pieces with a stronger mounting point for legs and such.

Pretty Good, but Practice Before Using
For the "1/4-20" sized Insert, the company web site said to use a 23/64 inch drill bit for the pilot hole. WRONG! In fact the same company sells a kit that includes a 25/64 inch bit, DO NOT USE THAT. ONLY use a 5/16 inch bit. Any bit larger than that and it will leave so little wood that the threads easily come out when unscrewing the Bolt from this Insert. Also, do NOT over-tighten the Bolt that you use with this Insert. Since the threads of the Insert rotate in the same direction as the Bolt's, if you over-tighten the Bolt and then try to take the Bolt out, this Insert will COME OUT WITH IT.

1/2 bit for 3/8-16
1/2 bit worked great for the 3/8-16 ones. I wanted full thread engagement so I was torn between the piloting advantage of a tapered fit vs the holding strength of a straight fit, but after running a bunch of test holes, the 1/2 hole had good thread engagement from the get go and it allowed for plum install. So even though your eye may lie to you, use a 1/2 bit to drill the hole fit the 3/8-16.

These are easy to use and I have used them over and over and over again to add casters to furniture.

Great option for putting machine threads into wood
Used these for making a speaker box for my Jeep. I wanted to have machined threads in my sub box so the speaker could be replaced if need-be without damaging the box. These went in easily and fit well. They had nice threads in them. I had no issues with this build.

These work great.
Great thread inserts for my use. I used them in 1/2" MDF and they work perfectly. Easy install and strong hold.

I am so impressed with how easy these are to use and how well they work. By using threaded inserts, I can make relatively strong components that come apart for packing very easily. I pre-drilled using a 5/16 (or 9mm) bit, plunging deep enough to accommodate any excess length of the 1/4 bolt I want to use. Installation is done with a 6mm hex key -- be careful not to cinch it down too much - you can break these.

Very well made quality is 4 star but do not use a Allen Key to insert them the rim breaks off, use a bolt with a washer. that's why i did the 4 star rating. Still a great product
