Can the print bed be upgraded to a heated bed ?

No, I returned it and bought a no ame printer with heated bead and two color printing for slightly less.

is there an instruction manual written in english?

There is a manual provided in pdf format but from my experiences it is basically useless. It was written for a software called Doraware, which was not included with my printer. I tried to find a copy of Doraware on the weistek websites, no luck. The American versions of the www.weistekusa.com website is now dead. I'd steer clear if I was you. I recently returned the printer after spending two weeks trying to figure it out. I purchased a printrbot simple metal to replace it and have been happy with it so far.
