Origin8 Single-Ring Chainring Bolts

Perfect replacement for my fixed gear I bought off someone from craigslist years ago. Someone vandalized my bike and broke these off. I thought the bike wasn't working fixing but after researching realized you could replace these fairly easily and for a reasonable price. So far so good! Feels well made and sturdy. No issues with riding the bike so far after install. Having a little tool (I bought seperately off here as well) was really helpful to replace these and tighten them properly.

Likes: It realy does work. Nice metal construction seem like stainless steel not sure but good quality is assured. Concerns: None now but when I was installing it I was worried if it will fit. It did fit with NO issues. Kept or Returned? Kept and is installed on my Fixie bike and is happy 5-star experience. Thanks for your time and I hope this review was helpful.

What's not to like? They're affordable, robust, and get the job done. When you require an emergency chainring bolt, you must have a spare. There are no workarounds for this when you're miles from home. I just have to say that the weight is noticeable from a packaging standpoint. When I lifted the chainring bolt card out of the package, I noticed they had some weight. That's ok since these are made of steel and are more affordable than aluminum bolts. I know this is negligible, and I won't notice a weight change on my bike overall. I will purchase again.

Works great for a single chain ring with no spacers. Hard to hold the slotted nut on the back. Hex would be easier.

I have a 2-ring Shimano Sora crank on my main weekend bike. I wanted to simplify the setup and get to a 1x9 gear setup. These bolts are perfect in that they are short and allow you to run a single chainring on a spider meant to hold 2. Super simple. I didn't have any issues with stripping or durability with the Steel versions. They were easy enough to install even without a chainring tool.

Perfect for single chainrings! I converted my Shimano Ultegra compact double recently to a single narrow wide chainring and used this Origin8 chainring bolt set. I am no weight weeny so don't mind a few grams to get the strength of steel bolts. Love that they are black. Had no problems with this set and actually used a set on my other bike as well.

I’ve built many 1x conversion bikes. Early on I was fixated on building bikes with as little weight as possible and opted for aluminum. Rookie mistake! The aluminum bolts are so easy to strip, round, or simply break. The steel ones still weigh virtually nothing and are many times stronger (also more affordable). Even with a torque wrench you can easy break aluminum chainring bolts because they are just so small. Get the steel ones and save yourself any issues.
