UPDATE: I Change My 1⭐ Review To A 5⭐ Review
UPDATED REVIEW: To those of you that couldn't connect to WiFi or stay connected, as was previously the case with myself using the Orb Mini Camera. I believe the problem is the directions, as they don't go in the order that the different events occur with the camera or don't relate to this specific camera period is what I've found. For example, when troubleshooting to connect during the initial setup process it advises to use the provided pin to insert it into the small WiFi reset button located on top of the camera right next to where you insert a micro sd card and it instructs to continue holding the pin in until you hear continuous music. That never happened for me after trying multiple times. However, I noticed when I was interrupted by someone speaking to me as I pushed the pin in and ALMOST immediately released rather than continuing to hold the pin in, then I did actually hear continuous music. So in other words, don't do a long press when inserting the pin to reset the WiFi or troubleshoot it. Simply insert until you feel the reset button definitely pushed the entire way in for like 1-2 seconds and then release. So that was 1 thing the directions were wrong about (unless my orb mini camera is defective and I'll know soon because I'm getting ready to install the 2nd one that I purchased that I was also getting ready to return). Another thing I noticed was the CLICKING sound that's a normal part of the process didn't actually happen as or when it indicated it should have but at a different time in the setup process. To be honest, only a few things matched in the order that the directions instructed, such as entering your WiFi name and password and showing the countdown as the camera tried connecting to it! I was that frustrated with it trying repeatedly to get it connected in an area of my home that I had excellent WiFi signal and no trouble on any of my other WiFi connected devices, and I even renamed the device, refreshed it several times, & deleted the device from the Netvue app a few times, and nothing seemed to work so I eventually just gave up, letting it sit where I was original going to install it (1 room away from the room my fios router sits in that I have located on the outside of a very tall desk, sitting on top of it so WiFi signal can travel freely throughout my home). However, several hours later, I glance at my phone after receiving notifications and Low & behold, in addition to the motion detection notifications for my 2 full sized orb cameras it finally showed the orb mini camera online showing me video footage. So then I immediately checked the settings to see what results it was showing in "WiFi Analysis" menu and it was like 80% or better for good WiFi signal. So this next part is VERY IMPORTANT, it showed in the Netvue app there was an available FIRMWARE UPDATE that needed done for the Mini Orb camera, but because previously I couldn't get the mini orb to stay connected to WiFi I was unable to complete the update. However, now that it was showing online several hours, allowing me to use the controls in the app to move the position of the camera, pan & tilt, and hear thru it (which by the way, the sound on the mini orb is AMAZING, much better than the full sized ORB cameras that the sound is all distorted and crackles, both on the camera itself and in the app), I decided to immediately complete the firmware update while it was still online and working properly. Since then its worked perfect. Morale of the story people (my shared experience), is DON'T give up. If you can even get it to connect to WiFi 1x and got thru most of the setup process (other than the firmware update), then just let it sit powered on for a few hours and then come back and see if it's working or check the app to see if you can view video from that camera. As mentioned earlier, I don't feel the directions for setting up the mini orbs are completely accurate, you just have to fool with the camera & app a bit and then possibly let it sit for a short while and things then seem to synchronize in a sense, it starts to work. I hope this helps some of you having WiFi connection issues because it really is a MIGHTY LITTLE CAMERA with excellent clarity for the video resolution & quality, and superb sound! Lastly, don't know if this will heal anything to any of you, but I am not subscribed to any of the Netvue security, motion detection, or human alert subscriptions, because I have found both services/features to work wonderful with the use of a San Disk 128 GB ultra micro sd card all on it's own. It allows me to go back they the video footage by date & time it using this timeline type feature that you can just swipe thru all time periods of video footage, it keys me share it via text, email, etc. I LOVE THESE CAMERAS and the fact this company doesn't try forcing you into using their online storage & security services like many other products would require. I have Xfinity home security service because it gets me a nice discount on home owners insurance, with 1 of their indoor cameras that goes for $199.99 and I can't do nearly the stuff I can with these cameras, such as moving the position of the camera, pan & tilt, zoom, and no audio.... ORIGINAL REVIEW: Such a shame, guess you get what you pay for. Got this as a lightening deal and I thought the price was too good to be true. Also thought maybe the device itself was defective because I have 2 of the larger indoor Orb cameras and they work great, even 1 being at opposite end of my home as the router and on a different floor and it works great... So I bought a 2nd Orb mini camera few days ago just to make sure the 1st wasn't defective, but it was the same exact problems. Even the set up process didn't go in the order as the instructions advised. I'm returning both orb mini cameras, they're junk!

Great Initial Impression
I’ve just received and installed the device so this is focused on initial impression. So far, so good. Out of the box it’s not particularly impressive. Some may find the product feel and weight is not high end level. I would say that there is value in it being light-weight, and given that, and the price, it’s entirely inline with expectations. I have no problem with it. I thought the install process was very nice. Directions are simple, the app install was quick and easy and the install verification email arrived immediately. The process uses scan codes at two steps: one, a code on the device to register it to your Netvue (required) account—it worked flawlessly; second, to initiate setup to your local network—that too worked well. I did have a hang up on network config that ended with me in Netvue real time chat: the device is clear that it needs to connect to a 2.4ghz network, which I did. However, it didn’t occur to me that my *mobile device* may also need to be connected to the same network. That detail wasn’t mentioned anywhere I noticed. So my setup attempt failed each of four tries. —> Netvue: if the mobile device running the setup also needs to be on a 2.4ghz network it would be best to clearly note that The online chat wasn’t great, either, in that after sending a screenshot of my local WiFi the responses just dropped. Didn’t know what was going on, but I decided to drop after a few minutes. —> Netvue: it’s critical to keep in contact, and if offline work is required agents should inform so I dropped the chat and considered that maybe I should change my mobile WiFi from 5ghz to 2.4ghz. And after that install was a breeze! I’ve played with the motion detect feature: great; received an email notification almost immediately! I’ve played with the real-time app controls and live-feed: fantastic App Function/Design: no issues here Picture quality: check; I will note that it doesn’t appear to have as wide an angle as I expected; that said, images don’t have too bad of a “fishbowl” effect, either; but depending on one’s room you may expect that the field of view will not cover the room—all this subject to placement and angle, of course Night vision: tbd All in all I’m really happy with the purchase and very excited to see how it continues to function. The item cost really seems bargain and I’m already recommending it to family! Admittedly I don’t have experience with other products, but so far I would definitely look to stay with Netvue products in the future amid all the options out there-

Great camera for tight budget
Purchased this to check on my pet while away. Only had it for about a week so far, but it seems to be working well. The camera quality isn’t the best (1080p is pretty standard) but personally seems sufficient just for monitoring—nothing fancy. I think internet connection really matters when remotely controlling the camera when away because it can get laggy, but again that’s not the product’s fault. The audio for it sounds like a headset as if you were listening to someone speak through a car’s Bluetooth— again pretty standard quality. The night vision is also pretty standard, I noticed that you need to angle the camera at something far away otherwise it will focus on something up close and make the background completely black except for that one object. The angle of the camera for night detection matters a lot. I have not really tested the motion detection since my purpose was for monitoring my pet indoors. The product itself is pretty small and light, so you can put it anywhere you need to. It also came with screws and something to mount it with. I’m not a fan of having the camera content saved on a cloud so I won’t be using the remote service that the company offers but it is nice that they have the option for that and I could see it being useful if you’re on vacation or away a lot. I do like than you can save the data locally on an sd card. Also in order to watch the content from remotely (live) the content still has to go “somewhere” in their cloud servers (even temporarily for live surveying) so if you’re using this as a baby camera, pet camera, etc interior monitoring… that would be good to keep in mind. I also bought a smart plug so that I could control the camera remotely for turning it on and off just for peace of mind. Overall I would say the camera is pretty standard quality for its price point and I’m not disappointed with it at all. If you have the money I would say there are better options but for simple usage this camera would be sufficient. Compared to some other products in the similar price range, this one has a lot more features so you get more bang for your buck.

Great quality cameras offering you peace of mind!
I ordered a couple of these cameras a couple of weeks ago and so far they've been working perfectly. The motion detection is a bit sensitive and I can't find a decent happy medium and receive notices when a cloud passes the sun and the shadow passes a wall in the detection zone, but I guess I'll take getting more motion detection notices over not getting them at all when it matters the most as a plus! I have one in my bedroom and one in the living room and those alone cover a decent square footage viewing area without using the spin and tilt features, which are also awesome features to use when I'm away from home. I'm actually considering getting 1 or 2 more just to be completely covered and have that peace of mind that my home and belongings are safe! The 1080p picture quality is great and the night vision is just as great in my opinion. I like to check in on my cats and they are very easy to see clearly in the view of the camera, and the speak feature is nice as well when they are doing things they shouldn't be doing and I can tell them to stop. I also have each camera set for different coverage times for when I'm home vs not home, but it would be great if more than one sleep mode schedule could be programmed on each camera so that I don't have to worry about manually putting each one in sleep mode or manually waking them up at times outside of the one set schedule allowed. I keep a pretty consistent weekly schedule so this would be a great update if they could do it. The cameras were easy to install and sync up to the app. I have a dual-band wifi connection and I've had no problems with it impacting the performance of the cameras. You just have to make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4 band before syncing with the app otherwise it won't work. It's all very user friendly and they're just great cameras overall for the price; I honestly can't complain!

All-Around Wonderful Camera
This camera works great both during the day and in night-vision mode. The picture quality is very crisp as one can see from the photos attached; however, movement will cause the subject to be blurry. The faster the movement, the blurrier it gets. I just moved into the house and had things scattered throughout the room, so I thought these screen shots would display how well the camera was able to keep both near and far things in focus, and how well the lens' iris adjusted based on the amount of lighting. The motion detection is well-done! There are 12 parts of the camera's view one can choose on/off to detect motion, one can select to have it automatically turn on at certain times, and one can change the motion detection's sensitivity. And one can easily turn motion detection manually on/off. There is a 14-day cloud recording trial provided. After that there are two options: One can pay a monthly or yearly cloud recording plan, or one can simply record the video on one's phone. I choose to do the latter, instead of the former. The only negatives I have noticed are: rarely the Netvue App locks-up on my iPhone, but a simple close and re-open of the app fixes that; the camera's movement can be jerky and makes plenty of whirring noise; and its tilt-down is limited to the horizontal plane, while the tilt-up can go up 90°

Terrible product.
If I could give a negative rating I most definitely would. Right from the start these cameras were a huge headache. I ordered two of them and upon having major issues with the first camera I didn’t even want to setup the second camera. Major Issues: 1. Took hours to connect to WiFi 2. After connecting to WiFi it took more hours to connect to the server 3. Finally connects to server but the picture never became clear even after updating So basically, I was contacting support numerous times, started at about 7 pm and was up until midnight trying to get this one camera to work. The support guy did what he could, but that ultimately was just blaming my WiFi for being too weak. First off, 100 mbps is not amazing, but it’s more than enough to handle numerous connected devices. Then he tried blaming my router for being too weak. Well my router is about 400 dollars and can extend to the parking lot 209 feet away so I know the router isn’t the problem. In fact, the companion app you need with the camera has a WiFi test option and it scored 92/100, so I know the WiFi wasn’t the problem. Yet still the support tried to blame the WiFi. Anyway, I was told my issue was elevated to “tier 2” support and I guess that means no one will contact you again for two days until you yourself contact them again wondering what’s happening. Then I got elevated to “tier 3” support, which I was told means the engineers would contact me within 24 hours. Again, no one contacted me. So two days later I reach out again and I’m given some tips on how to get the camera to work. I did them, the camera worked for one day, clear picture, sound, could speak through the device, move the camera with the app, it was great. Then of course once I leave the house it stops working. And you have to be physically be present to fix the camera so it completely defeats the purpose to have the camera if it only works while you’re in the house. So I tried setting up the second camera, hoping maybe I just got a faulty product the first time. Well this one was even worse than the first. The process of getting on to WiFi and the server went pretty quick, but the next step is to download the firmware update and it just would not download. When downloading on the first camera a loading bar would pop up with the percentage completed, but this second camera would not even display a loading bar. It would appear as if it were downloading, giving me the spinning circle like something is happening, but then it would stop. So Id try to start the update again and same thing. Never worked. Without the update the camera is all but useless. So now I have two cameras that won’t work. Amazon was great and gave me back my money, but I wouldn’t even bother getting this product in the first place. So many other options out there.

Does everything I need for a great price!
I bought 3 of these to keep an eye on my 93-year old father. They were easy to set up and worked right away. The app is easy to use and allows the cameras to be panned and tilted. The devices were quickly discovered by my network of Amazon Echo devices as well. I am able to have the device live feeds up on a screen while I am away and can monitor my Dad. I can keep the microphone on low to be able to hear if he needs something. He hasn't been able to get the knack of using Alexa so the Netvue devices will allow him to just call out and I can hear him. (He refuses to wear a Life Alert.) The Night Vision works great! I was able to watch my 93-year old father get up in the night and go wander around in the dark! I used an Amazon Echo to turn on lights for him. Considering the price of similar home cams, the Netvue are a GREAT value!

Good picture, but some annoying lack of function.
Pretty nice picture but it lacks some things that make it harder to use. I seem to be able to only do one on/off schedule no matter what I try. That means it comes on on the weekend when we are home, which I find creepy. Makes me think someone hacked in to it! The range of motion of the camera is a little limited so if you mount it to the wall, there are sections it won’t be able to see depending on your room layout. Also, if you do not mount it but set it on a bookshelf and that shelf is too high, it can’t go down very low so you will have no idea what is going on near the floor level...where the dogs are. It took a little effort but we finally found the right location for it. But the programming thing is still an issue. Glad it was cheap, but probably wouldn’t buy it again. Get what you pay for I guess. At least the picture is quite good. Update: The company took it upon themselves to contact me after my review and offer a refund or a new camera. Since my issues were with the functions of the camera that can’t be changed I opted for the refund but it is very nice to know that they stand by their product and will make it right if a customer has concerns.
