Green Tofu Press

I bought this press specifically to make homemade cheese, even though it’s marketed as a tofu press, and it has worked great for that purpose. It applies even pressure and is easy to adjust, which is ideal for fresh and soft cheeses. It’s compact and easy to store, much more practical than bulky traditional cheese presses. Cleaning is simple and overall it’s very easy to use. This is a great option.

This press is a game changer for anyone who cooks with tofu regularly. The built-in strainer and drip tray make pressing effortless and mess-free, and the included cheesecloth is a thoughtful touch. It’s sturdy, easy to use, easy to clean, plastic free, and has helped improve the texture of my tofu every time for all my tofu cooking needs. Great quality and definitely worth having in the kitchen! My only gripe would be if is I wish it was slightly wider so i can do two tofu blocks at the same time.

It works better without all the hardware. Just enlarge one of the holes and use one of the rods. That way you can just swing away the to, plop in the tofu from the tub, swing the top back, and press it. No need for a second rod. No need for the wing nuts. The holes are too tight to just push the top down, and using the screws is WAY too tedious. So I drilled out the hole larger and made it a lot easier to use. If using it with all that excessive hardware, I would rate this a two, but with my adaptation, it's fine.

I'm the purchase, not the user. My wife loves it. The press works great and, importantly, does not require a lot of strength. Arthritis limits my wife's strength but she presses, smooshes and tofus her way to lunch and dinner.

Bought in December and since I'm about the only one in my house that eats tofu I haven't used it too much. It is beautiful bamboo and is easy to assemble, use and wash. I use the level feature on my phone to make sure I'm pressing it evenly and it works as intended. I love it (and it works so much better than 2 plates, napkins and a heavy mortar and pestal which is how I was pressing my tofu before I found this) * I had encountered a crack in the bottom piece of my press after about 4 uses and it was promptly replaced! Many thank yous for the replacement!!

I eat tofu on a regular basis and use this press an average of once a week. To keep the bamboo from cracking/splitting I oil the tray (that collects the liquid). I rinse the tray after use, let it dry completely, and apply Thirteen Chefs brand Food Grade Mineral Oil (a little bit goes a very long way). I've had this press for several years with no sign of cracking or splitting.

I’m not impressed with this tofu press. The holes where the screws slot in are too small and should be drilled larger. This causes the tofu press to bind and stick and makes it very difficult to get the tofu out . The wing nuts are too small and make it painful on your fingers when you try to tighten the press. Just a few tweaks would make this a decent product but as it is, I would not recommend it.

Plastic aspects bother me and no info in product sent if it is food safe. Is fairly easy to use and does seem to work. Would suggest you order one that clarifies food safe.
