Superceded my expectations
I was not expecting a whole lot but this product superceeded my expectations. The only thing I dislike is having to wash and wet my hair previously because it's winter and I was cold but it was super easy to apply. I found it easier to apply than regular hair dye and much less toxic. I used a bowl and an application brush from Sally beauty supply and there was no mess. It was a very creamy conditioner and I could see how people say one bottle will last for a while because I probably only used about a quarter and my hair is hip length. So, because of it's creaminess there was no mess. I left it on for 30 minutes. When I went to rinse I didn't lose hardly any color, just a little bit everybody's hair is different. Another thing too, I co-wash so I didn't use shampoo I used my conditioner. So, I rinsed and I was pleasantly surprised. The color took much stronger than my usual hair dye and it was much gentler on my hair. My hair felt very conditioned. My grays were completely covered which I was unsure about but they were covered completely and came out a beautiful light copper that you can see in my pictures. You can see my bangs too there are a lot of grays at the roots that were completely covered. So, I am definitely leaning towards this method going forward since it feels so good and works well. This works for me because I only wash my hair once a week and it's only a co-wash. My climate is at elevation and cold alpine so conditioning is extremely important here. I usually dye my hair (roots) every month so by then it will only be 4 co-wash cycles. So, if you co- wash this could be great for you. I also love that they have so many different colors for people to chose them, there is a color for everybody. So, I think this is a winner for me. Knowing how much I condition my hair and how gentle co-washing is I don't expect to lose too much color. I'm also looking forward to more beautiful highlights the more grays I get. I will update this review after a month but so far I really like this product.

Subtle hair color, effective gloss, deep moisturizer and non-damaging product.
Let me start with some background about my hair to put my experience with the dpHUE hair color in perspective. I have naturally medium brown hair. To say that my hair is thin and fine is an understatement. It is spiderweb fine! I went blonde about a decade ago, which substantially damaged my hair. I have been dying it medium brown for the past couple of years. I have lots of grays. I had experienced significant stress and hormones related hair loss in the past several years. I am pretty paranoid about trying new hair colors as I'm always afraid of the damage and the potential trigger for another hair shed. I had this dpHUE hair color/gloss in my Amazon cart for a couple of months. I just could not get myself to try it as I have not colored my hair at home for over 20 years. But the salon trips are expensive, more frequent because of all my grays and cause me anxiety every single time. So I talked my coworker into trying this product as she is very adventurous with her hair and will try pretty much anything. She reported back that the product left her hair feeling silky and shiny but didn't do much for her color as her hair is naturally dark brown/almost black. I was encouraged about the fact that the product was not damaging and decided to try it. I was between the cool medium brown and light brown. I decided to go a little lighter at first and went with the light brown. First of all, this product is very easy to apply and rinse off. It leaves a little bit of tint on your hands, which is gone after a couple of washes. Next time, I'll just wear gloves. I was extremely nervous the first time so I left it on for only 10 minutes. I applied it on damp hair as instructed. I combed it with a fine tooth comb to make sure it was evenly spread. I noticed maybe a tiny change in color but honestly not much. It left my hair shiny and silky smooth though. And most of all, no itching, shedding or damage. I went to the reviews to learn that some have used it on dry hair and left it on longer for deeper color and gray coverage. I wasn't sure how soon I can reapply but decided to just do it the very next day. I applied it to dry hair. I do have to say that it was harder to smooth it over my hair and it was a bit messier. I left it on for 15 minutes. Again, no damage and silky smooth hair. I saw a noticeable change in color and at least 80% of my grays got covered. I am going to switch to the cool medium brown. Even though I am very happy with how this product treated my hair, the color just does not look great on me. I prefer cooler tones and the light brown definitely pulls more bronze/red. It is a very pretty color, just not for me. Some of the reviews said the product is too expensive. For me, if I use it for at least 15 minutes to get the desired results, it is definitely worth the price with the estimated 8 to 12 applications. I highly recommend the dpHUE hair color/gloss. It is really a great product so don't wait months like me and just do it.

Soft, Shiny Gray Coverage with a Subtle Light Brown Gloss – Just Use Gloves!
I have dark brown, color-treated hair and picked up the dpHUE Gloss+ in Dark Brown mainly for some new gray coverage. It actually deposits a very light brown tone on my dark brown hair, which looks natural and not heavy or overly dark. After washing it out, my hair feels soft, smooth, and really shiny. The gray coverage is decent without making the rest of my hair look drastically different. Only downside: if you apply it with bare hands it will stain them, but the stains come off after a few gentle scrubs. I’d recommend using a brush or wearing gloves to keep things cleaner. Overall I’m happy with the results and will keep using it.

Added copper tint to dark brown hair; dyed scalp orange; washed out in one week
Wanted to try a penny-like copper on my completely virgin medium/dark brown hair. I figured a gloss like this in Copper would be a good temporary way to test out whether or not I liked the color, but didn’t have high expectations starting with quite a dark base color. I did a strand test first using hair from my brush and it seemed to give it just a tint of copper, so I took the plunge on my whole head. I used a clarifying shampoo in the shower, then applied this with gloves on very damp hair and clipped it up for the rest of my shower, about 15 mins, then rinsed out. I have fine, thin hair about 4” past my shoulders and used about 1/5 of the bottle for this. I was pretty surprised by how long it took to rinse out - pink/coral water just kept coming and coming with no end…I felt like I was rinsing all the color out! Finally I decided I couldn’t rinse any longer...And got out of the shower to see my scalp dyed bright Halloween orange! So it was back in the shower and did some more scrubbing and rinsing to try to remove the scalp stains (which helped a little but my scalp was very much still bright orange for multiple days afterwards - thank goodness I did it on a weekend where I didn't have to be anywhere). Once dry, I could see my roots tinged ever so subtly red-copper but there was absolutely nothing on my lengths or ends. I figured maybe my base color is just too dark for this color, but decided to try one more time. The second time, I decided to apply it to dry hair to see if that would help it take more color. I applied it dry (used much more product this time, about 1/3 bottle) and let it sit for about 30+ mins before rinsing it out in the shower (no shampoo). Same rinsing scenario - I must have been under the water for 10+ minutes doing nothing but rinsing and rinsing, and coral pink was still pouring from my hair until I eventually gave up. So don’t expect this to rinse clear! You can see the results from my photos - you can definitely notice a red/copper tint to it, which was more obvious in person and in direct sunlight! I imagine if you’re starting with a lighter base color, you’d definitely see more result. No real noticeable results in terms of glossiness, softness, nor shine, but my hair is fairly healthy to begin with. Besides my scalp being orange for days, another big con was the fragrance: I’m used to using all fragrance-free products so the smell of this was incredibly perfumey to me. The nights after using it, I kept waking up feeling like I and my pillow were just engulfed in this strong perfumey fragrance. Would have been much nicer if it had no added fragrance and that alone makes me hesitant to use it again. It washed out to the point where it wasn’t noticeable anymore after only about 3-4 washes. I wash my hair every other day so for me this meant it lasted only about one week. And I had to use a towel and pillowcase I didn’t mind getting stained the whole time since so much color poured out every shower and it was staining my white towel (luckily this came out in the wash). Overall: since my base color is already quite dark and it only lasted about 1 week on me, I can’t say it would be worth using this again. The scalp staining and the fragrance make it even less worth it. But it definitely worked for a subtle tint. Apply it dry for the most color deposit. And if you’re starting with a lighter base color, I imagine the results could be pretty dramatic.

LOVE this product!! Some tips for best results…
I was very hesitant to buy this product due to the mixed reviews, but I decided to go for it and I’m so glad I did! First two pics are before and second are after. Shown in indirect and direct sunlight. My hair is naturally dark blonde and I used the strawberry gloss. I have the tiniest hit of red, but it can only be seen in direct sunlight. My goal was to intensify that hint of red and become a true strawberry blonde, and I was also open to being a true redhead. I almost went for the copper color, and I know that many of the bad reviews are with that color. If you have any shade of blonde or maybe even light brown hair and want somewhat subtle results, I’d recommend going with strawberry over copper. There are a few factors that I think contribute to a beautiful result with this product. 1. Virgin hair - my hypothesis for why some people experience patchy results is differing porosities of hair texture on the same head. I bleached my hair for many years, and I don’t think this product is ideal for that texture. I stopped about 4 years ago and have now fully grown out and cut off any color-treated hair. 2. Ensuring an exfoliated scalp and fully clean hair - it seems like some folks were left with vivid roots and a dyed scalp. At least every other time I wash my hair, I use a scalp scrub before shampooing. I then use a clarifying shampoo focusing on the scalp and roots, rinse it out, and then a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo on both the roots and lengths of my hair. I only use the clarifying shampoo when I am about to apply a hair treatment. The other times I shampoo twice with the same gentle shampoo. Before I started using a scalp scrub, I didn’t think I had much product/oil build-up, but it has been an absolute game changer in my routine. But that’s a review for another day lol. 3. Be intentional and thorough with application - I personally wouldn’t recommend putting this product into your hair while you’re still in the shower like you would with conditioner like some other reviewers have said. I do scalp scrub, double shampoo, and then the rest of my shower routine. After I get out and dry off, I squeeze excess water out of my hair by scrunching with a cotton turban, but a t-shirt would be just as good. I then section my hair into quadrants and make sure I thoroughly saturate each section and comb through it with a wide-toothed comb before moving on to the next section. I use gloves for this step. Once I’m done, I comb it all out again to ensure every strand is coated evenly. Then I put my hair up in a big claw clip. 4. Saturation time - the first time I used this product, I only left it in for about 10 minutes, maybe less, as I was terrified I would experience overly pigmented, patchy results. I am relieved that was not the case, but leaving the product in for that short of a time gave me very, very subtle results. The next few times I have extended the leave-in time to 15-30 minutes and have liked the result more the longer I leave it in before rinsing. 5. Rinsing - after the product has had time to sit, I get back in the shower and thoroughly rinse. I have not noticed the color coming out at all in the water like some have said. I have only used the strawberry gloss, so that may be a factor, but I also think rinsing with cool/cold water helps. I don’t add conditioner after rinsing out the gloss, but I do put in the leave-in conditioner I always use after a wash and then style as usual. I know this was very long-winded, but I hope someone finds it helpful, whether you are considering buying this product or already bought it and were disappointed with your results. I have applied this 3, maybe 4, times now and have only used about a third of the bottle. For context, my hair goes past my shoulders and is slightly thicker than average. I use about 3 pumps per section of hair. I wash my hair every 5 days, so I get about a month of noticeable color per application. I will definitely keep using this product for the foreseeable future. Wishing you wonderful results!

Fun Treatment for Natural 4C Hair
I have short 4c hair and greying at the temples. This product left me with visibly darker black hair - not too unnatural - but it made me realize that my natural hair has a lot of different shades between black and grey. This product was easy to use if you have your own gloves and a basement sink so you don't have to worry about staining. I left it on for about half and hour and even put some on my eyebrows. I had to rub the excess off my skin with cotton wool and oil during the application. Although it didn't cover the grays in my hair it changed my hair color enough to give me a new natural look without fear of damage which I appreciate. I had to wash and condition several times to get the stiff dry feeling out so I'm not too sure this works as a 'gloss' on 4c hair, just a color boost.

Weird Smell, Washes out fast, but good amount of product!
Easy to use, but has a horrid smell. I’m not sure if I got a weird batch but it smelled rancid when I used it- and I’m usually used to the smell of hair dyes and such. Even after the first few washes, the color still would strip and be shown in the water and stain items. It did not stay well, despite following the instructions thoroughly. By my 3rd hair wash, the color was almost completely gone. My hair is already dark brown but I usually tone the highlights that I had previously put into it. I used to go to the salon for the tone but decided to try the dye myself for once. By my third hair wash, I could already see my blonde highlights again. Honestly, it’s not the best product- however they give you a lot of product for your money. I have a lot of thick hair and I’ve barely made a dent into the bottle. The smell also doesn’t go away once it’s in your hair… I use a nice smelling conditioner but if I didn’t use it then my hair would probably smell exactly like the initial dye. Overall 2/5, good if you want to reapply the gloss every week and if you have a nice conditioner that gets the smell out.

Refresh color and tone at home
I got the shade Cool Medium Brown and it works quite well to refresh my color and cancel out the warm tones. It’s not a dramatic change, but great for toning and adding a bit more richness to faded hair color. It’s a bit pricey in my opinion for what it does, but beats paying more at a salon. It’s a good solution for refreshing color between salon appointments.

I will absolutely recommend this product to anyone who will listen
Okay, so I was really wanting to have darker hair again. However, I live in a really small town and don’t trust any of the hairdressers here to colour my hair. My sister, who is a professional hairdresser said that all I really needed was a glaze or gloss, I immediately went to Amazon, and looked through all the listing. This one stood out so I ordered a bottle. Got it super fast, before Amazon anticipated me receiving it. And immediately used it, the first photo, with my face in it, is what my hair looked like before, the second photo, where I’m holding my hair, is after using it while in the shower on damp hair, and I only had it in for 15 minutes, and the last photo is 3 days later when I decided to see if I could get it even darker. This time however, I put it on dry hair and let it sit for about 25 minutes before washing it out. I have always pulled warm, so I’m not even remotely surprised about the little bit of red in my hair, and I love it. One thing I will caution you about, I have a shower and white countertops and it did stain a little. With a bit of vigorous scrubbing I was able to get it out, but if you don’t want to have to deal with that, just cover up any visible surfaces. It looks like it will stain your skin, but it comes off when you apply water! Absolutely BUY this

Soft, shiny and blended greys
I paint this onto my greys on dry hair, leave it for 30 mins, then hop in the shower and wet my hair before spreading it around and leaving it for another 3 mins. I wash my hair after. It blends greys really well, and lasts over a week. I have highlights in light brown hair and a few greys in the front. The dark blond turns my hair a sort of strawberry blond. I’ve used it 3 times now and I have a half a bottle left. My hair is just past my shoulders. I don’t want to dye my hair or cover my greys all the time, so this works well for me. I find it conditioning.
