Runner and company have safely left the city ahead of the siege. Completing their class promotions with barely any time to spare. Unfortunately Runner hasn't discovered the password he needs to begin the logoff process to save the 400,000 or so crewmates left alive in this game where dying truly means death. The game continues to shift and change with each day and as a byproduct of Runner's actions. Not only do the rules change, but those he's with have changed. No longer simple programs, they have reached actual sentience. Pressing himself ever onwards to learn more about the world he finds himself surprised at every turn. On top of navigating the ever changing game, the outside world has contacted him directly. Now he has to begin to navigate the situation as a gamer, IT support, and an officer. Of course this would all be a lot easier if he hadn't gotten captured within a few hours of leaving Crivel. Fate seems to be stacking the deck against him as quickly as she can this time around. Review: Action packed second entry that keeps the pace up and maintains engagement! - I simply love this series! It's a great romp into the world of RPGLit but it give a very valid reason and never seems contrived. I'm not really a fan of the whole GameLit genre but decided to try them out after blasting through the Wild Waste trilogy and having a lot of fun with that one. It wasn't a mistake. Very well developed characters and a compelling story make this a must read- multiple times. As with the others in the series, the narrator does a good job but does (naturally) have his own take on voices that causes a bit of imaginary dissonance with the voices my own mind had set up...but still great! Review: What an exhilarating ride! - A rollicking adventure with a side of thought provoking philosophy that does not diminish the story at all. That seems to me to be quite an accomplishment in itself! Also surprising to me is that, although this is the second book in a trilogy, it has a satisfying ending (while leaving readers curious about what further excitement and growth the characters we have come to care deeply about will soon experience). Very highly recommended!

A ...ending?
Excellent somewhat wrap up. Some things I figured would happen, some others that were unexpected. Interesting world, developments, some sadness. I'm curious where it'll go from there. No smut just FTB, but I actually don't mind that. I'd rather have an excellent story with that then potentially terrible smut shoehorned in. I definitely have questions, which is why I'm glad there's another book.

Can't help but love it.
I hate books where a hero comes in and starts modernizing a less developed world. Hate, hate, hate them. I also hate books where a hero is trying unite everyone and bring peace to the land. Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate them. And yet, I loved this one. Couldn't stop reading once I started. It's tight. I buy the mechanics. I believe the world. The characters are well filled out. The only soft spot that bothered me was at the end. I tentatively bought that part, but I'll keep the receipt in my wallet. Otherwise, this series moved up my favorites list to the number two spot.

The story is awesome, it continues from the fist book
The story is awesome, it continues from the fist book....I love this story concept. Runner is engaging and follows his moral code. The underlying pent up tension between him and his merry band continues...Jacob has a few tricks up his sleeve as well... good read the BAD PART:The publisher decided to save money and use tiny print that is a medium grey. O could ony read it in bright light. Normally i do not wear glasses to read... for this book I had to because of the bad print job...

The first book I'd give a 2.5
Now the second book, this one gets a perfect score. Please let book 3 be just as good. (Fingers crossed) finished this one in 2 day's. In my opinion, this is harem style done correctly. So many authors fail at this concept. Not mr William D. Arand. The first book was a pretty slow build up. 80% done is when i really started to take interest, so into the second book it started glorious. This is just my opinion, but i highly recommend finishing the first if you are like me because the second is definitely worth it.

Good read
Solid sequel. Most questions on what is going on are answered, which makes some aspects of the story quite interesting. At the same time, the game part takes a backburner. In fact, the protagonist rather brutally breaks the game which at a few points does jar a bit. Still, I read the book in one go.

Very well done
Spoiler alert................... I really do like the story but I am not a fan when the author kills what is considered a main character. I know it happens more often when you're dealing with a trilogy and not as much when you're dealing with a series for these kinds of books. A connected universe is kind of a gray area for some I guess including this author but I'm not a fan of it. I have enjoyed the Trilogy up until that point and since I'm invested and there's one more book who knows what might happen.

Excellent series
My 3rd or 4th read now. Such a great series for adults. Stuff for women and men. Maybe he will write a follow up to the series set 3-5 hundred years in the future!

Book 1 is great book 2 gets repetitive and lost. A pleasant but not great read
I prefer his individual books to the series. Itโs a good read but not as good as the first book. A middle book is hard to write and he doesnโt finish it well. I struggle to grasp his premise in book 2.

Interesting
Lots of dilemma in this. Our MC is forced to choose between a rock and a hard place or, if lucky, find a middle ground which is better than both options, if not healthy to his sanity. In another note, having already read the dungeon deposed trilogy, it's interesting to find out the history of some characters that appear there.

It a good read
I enjoyed this book and am enjoying the series fun characters and an easy story to follow well worth the cost though I wish litrpg authors wouldn't go to world altering stuff so quick I like the little thing like shopping at auctions and crafting
