Shaving Soap - Shave Soap Refill

I have used this shaving soap for years. The soap lathers nicely, smells great, and lasts a lot longer than other shaving soaps.

My husband has been using shaving soap / brush since his Vietnam days. He has used a lot of different soaps but when I purchased this soap for him from the Art of Shaving store he was hooked. Then I found it on line which helped as we don't have a store near us. I asked him how it was and he said it makes his shave easy, with his excellent razor he is able to do a close shave quickly. His skin is always nice, smooth and smells good too! His grooming is A++....which is important for an "older" man and hair tends to grow everywhere. He also uses the Art of Shaving after shave cream which smells awesome - Sandalwood Essential Oil After Shave Balm. Thanks Art of Shaving and THANKS to my hubby for being so picky! Well worth the price!

This has been my go-to shaving soap for many years... lasts for about a year and it works great. Just for something different I will add a squeeze of some other shaving soaps to the top before I lather up my brush.

This is the very best shaving soap available. The scent is nice, the lather is exceptional and it seems to be good for my skin. I only use it on my head. I don't shave my beard off (trimmers for neatness) but for head shaving, it's silly to say this but it's like a dream shave soap. I had a shave soap that I bought at a little shop in Myrtle Beach, that was similar price as this, handmade, and I loved it but that's a five hour trip. I took the chance on this Art of Shaving soap and it's as good as the beach one. The only place I shave with a razor besides my head is my neck and there's just no irritation on my neck or head when using it. It's so good, I don't think I need to keep going. If it's not too expensive for you, this is highly recommended. I'm a person who tries to save money. I've had this bar for 2 months, use it 3 times a week and I can still see the etched brand in it. In the last bunch of years I used several products - "puck" type shaving soap. When I'm on the road I use the typical "can" lather. I needed a resupply off a Puck soap and decided to go back to the art of shaving soap refill, a product I use to use and stopped using on a whim about 3-4 rears ago. This product is one of the best, if not the best I've used over many years. The lather is thick, creamy, easy to build a lather, and "sticks" to your face not the brush. In other words it is easy to get the lather from the brush to your face. I use a big/full brush. The razor glides over the skin. I've had a couple of soap pucks that were also good and since I can't remember the names I can't refer them to you . this soap leaves the bathroom sink reasonably clean. If you partially fill the sink with water and shake the razor off in the water you may have noticed some products leave a film on the sink when you drain the sink this product is pretty clean. I don't rinse out my brush after use, the soap lasts about 3+ months, maybe less if you rinse out the brush. I have a plastic "bowl" that fits the puck and I scape the excess soap on the brush on the edge of the bowl. Other soaps last longer. I would say, give the product a try. I have a friend that has a "soap puck warmer" aka "ceramic soap cup warmer" ... been looking for one to purchase. The cup sits on a little stand with a built in small light like a Christmas tree string light that warms the cup. When you put the brush in very hot water the lather is nice and warm to your skin. Sure would like to get one.

This brand is the only shaving brand I use, so I always love their products, regardless.

I bought this in a sandlewood mug many years ago. Along with a boars hair brush. Made to last a lifetime. I had forgotten how good this shaving soap is. I have tried many other brands but none could compare. Some had foam but no smell or the foam wouldn't last. Or not a close shave. The Art of Shaving is worth the price. And the refill lasts a long time. Treat yourself. You won't be sorry

Having read good reviews of this soap, when on sale decided to try it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed! The lather left a lot to be desired, and the post-feeling of the shave was not what I would have expected for a soap so highly rated, especially at this price. In the past 20+ years of wet shaving with numerous brands of shaving soap, I was very disappointed, as this was the worst soap. In all fairness, I suspect what I received may have been from a bad patch???

Needed a refill for my ancient wood shaving bowl and my previous supplier no longer carries the product. Perfect fit, great fragrance (not too much) foams quickly, feels good on the face. I rated the "sensitive skin" and "travel" at 3 stars because I don't have sensitive skin so can't really comment and I don't travel with the shaving bowl. Overall a great shaving soap.

This product fit perfectly into my partners shaving bowl. I was a little disappointed in the sandalwood smell as it usually has a richer and more spicy aroma. I found the aroma to be quite light.

Update 2023 11 16 - After 10 days the later dries up within a minute of applying the soap with a premium AofS badger brush. So it is like the last soaps AofS was shipping before they discontinued the soap a few years ago. Definitely NOT RECOMMENDED. Update 2023 11 06 - Tried the soap today in my old AofS wooden bowl and the later was pretty good. Still doesn't explain receiving a package with BOTH security seals being cut. 2023 11 05 - I received this package two minutes ago and when I opened the envelope I noticed the top and bottom seals had been cleanly cut. Makes me wonder if the box is new and the soap is an old inventory before this reintroduction of the AofS shaving soap. Will update this once I have tried the soap.
