How can you disable the squeaker?

Really easy to disable. You can pull both of them out with a needle-nose pliers. No need to pull the entire bulb out, just the squeaker piece that makes the noise. Just be careful not to pinch or pull the foam.

Can a 6 year old use it? It looks short

Would absolutely work for a 6 year old. We got it for our 4 year old granddaughter and it was the hit of the party! Every child from 4yrs to 12 yrs had a great time with it! The handle is stretchy so it adjusts to a wide range of heights. Our granddaughter has 3 older siblings who all use it and it has held up fabulously! A GREAT gift for indoor or outdoor use and it uses Kid Power - No Batteries :-)

would this product be appropriate for a 7 year old?

Yes! I purchased it for my 5 year old nephew, but my older nieces and nephews loved it as well (ages 6-9). It was a lot sturdier than I had anticipated, and they all had a blast.

Could a almost 9 year old use it?

I bought this item a couple of years ago for my then 4 year old, he is still using it. But his brother, who was 10 at the time and used it! I would say it would work will for him.
