Wright Products - Standard Duty Pneumatic Screen and Storm Door Closer, White

I have 2 Larson Storm Doors, both white, both with retractable screens on my 3 season porch. For some reason, perhaps the arrival of cold weather, one of the storm doors started to slam shut. I switched door closers between the 2 doors and confirmed that the 2 storm door closers on the one door failed. I ordered these replacement storm door closers, in white, for the one door, which takes 2 closers. The were well packaged, arrived quickly, and had all the parts needed, though I only had to replace the closers and the 2 pins for each one. I will hold onto the other parts if needed later. They worked and fit perfectly! I did not need to speed up or slow down the closers via the adjustment screws as the closing speed was just right. Very happy with this product and it was at a reasonable price. I highly recommend this storm door closer. UPDATE: I just ordered 2 more identical storm door closers to use on m rear storm door.

Very easy to use and install. So far, it has worked perfectly and our storm door closes much smoother now.

There are 2 types available, oil filled and pneumatic (air filled). I like the oil filled until they leak. So to avoid the mess I use the air filled. Worked as expected. After purchase found I could have gotten at local big box store for less. I have been buying wright products for years as they are what is normally available at local stores. I find these are a mixed bag as far as durability is concerned. I have some that last 5 years or more and others that only last 2 years. I have bought heavy duty units that failed in less than a year and standard units that lasted a long time. Might try a different brand next time but these are ok for the money. Probably would bother me more if it werent for the fact that they are so simple to change out.

Purchased to replace exactly the same piston door closers. Lasted ~5+ years before performance degraded. Just have to remember that these are consumable goods that need replacement. They work great but time wins always. The entire reason to get these is for the screw to adjust the closer. Without the screw, other closers fall short. Near always in between perfect adjustment, which is to say INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED. May seem silly but a house that is without screen doors that slam ever is great.

Easy to install and really does prevent strong winds from taking the door too far.

I didn't choose this item after lengthy comparison - I bought it to replace the existing closer on my Emco(Anderson) storm-door. I'm unsure if it's the original, but this model number was what was installed on the door when I bought my home. The closer works as designed, and is efficient at closing the somewhat-heavy Emco door. The original piston-shaft was bent (but still functioned) when I bought the home, so I initially replaced it with the same model #, purchased at Lowe's -- Both the original closer and the Lowe's replacement from 2014 were labeled 'Made in USA', right on the cylinder. This replacement (same model #), purchased from Amazon in Dec 2016, is made in China (labeled only on the packaging, not the item itself). So, apparently, manufacturing has been moved to the PRC. I can't speak of longevity due to the reasons the first two were replaced: I found that if my storm-door is sometimes not fully closed and it's a high-wind day, the wind will blow the door open so violently, it hyperextends the closer, bends its piston-rod, and darn-near rips the mounting bracket from the door frame -- This is not the fault of the closer; this is simply my home's design (door placement + angle), an often high-wind location, and not making sure the door is completely secure. After I realized this is what caused the damage, I installed a limiter-chain. It's been a year and a half, and everything's still working great. I've seen no rust issues, as other reviewers have reported, even though it's pretty humid where I live. Overall a great, inexpensive direct-replacement.

Works well

It does what it supposed to do but after some use the small clip gets harder to place. If you can afford to get the one with the step button do it, it saves you from having to crouch down to set it. If you don’t use it often it will probably be okay for you, but if you use it often, definitely get something else easier to use. The slowdown of the door is also a bit jerky, not as smooth as the one I previously had. The install was easy and doesn’t take much time or any special tools.

Perfect- and easy to install. This arrived (one day) and I had it installed within 10 minutes. I spent months with a screen door that would not work properly. Ten minutes of easy installation and it works perfectly. The mounting brackets were different than the original but these brackets fit the existing holes and so on it went. No muss, no fuss. And my door works perfectly now.

This worked perfectly and was a direct replacement for the original closer on my back screen door. Just follow the directions and it will work well for you.
