The Lite Balaclava is constructed from lightweight 200gm pure merino jersey fabric for warmth without weight. This non-itch balaclava is low bulk to fit easily under a helmet and the elastic around the face keeps it in place.

Balaclavas don't get much better than this.
This fits very comfortably over my extra-large head (for reference, one-size-fits-all bike helmets and hats do NOT fit me; I need the extra large size). It covers my nose when needed (most of the time) yet also is stretchy enough to pull down below the chin, to expose one's face when stepping inside a store for a moment. It's also easy to slip on and off over the head at a moment's notice. It is thick enough to provide protection from the cold and wind, but thin enough to easily breathe through while walking around, and thin enough to fit under a more substantial wool cap or hood when the temperatures or wind chill get really bad.I wore it about every day this winter, in temperatures from 25F to -20F. Anyone reading this probably already knows how great Icebreaker's merino wool is; but just in case, note that I wore it for walks nearly every day for two months, washed it about once a week (because wool discourages bacterial growth and smell compared to synthetics, it doesn't need much washing), and it still looks and feels like new. I look forward to wearing it again next winter, and the next.

I wish I could get one like the old one I have
I wish I could get one like the old one I have. I have a large head and this one is a little snug, but does the trick.

I love Merino wool
Not scratchyEasily breathe through light fabricDoesn't get as funky/gross as syntheticsFacehole easily positions for open face or full ski mask, ninja-lookCaveat: mouth and face coverage in very cold weather will lead to a lot of condensation, this is better for milder conditions or just to take the edge off wind chill

Great quality balaclava.
Top quality balaclava. Keeps my face and ears warm at extremely low temperatures (-20C). Fits a large head with a little room to spare. I would recommend wearing it with a hat, as the material is a little thin for low temperatures and wind.

Excellent in both the sun and the freezing cold
Used this on Kilimanjaro. My ears and neck got sunburnt and blistered on the first day so had to resort to using this for the rest of the trip. Excellent in both the sun and the freezing cold.
