A good and reasonably priced linear polarized filter
Although I tend to shy away from low priced filters, this linear polarized filter has proven a good fit for my need. It works well with polarized light sources to reduce reflected glare on shiny subjects.

Filter is great, shipping package not so great.
I really enjoy using this linear polarizer on my prime lens when taking pictures inside the school gym and there are reflections from the sun off the hardwood floor. I use it on my Nikon D7100 camera and have not had any focusing issues. Too bad the supplier shipped it to me in a thin cardboard envelope because one of two filter cases were crushed. I don't need to use the polarizer all the time and would store the filter in its case.

Tiffen 72mm Polarizer
The product was received promptly and in great condition. It was easy to install on the lens and it's fit and finish were great. The pictures on my digital camera improved tremendously during daylight hours and I'm very pleased with the results.

Most point-and-shoot cameras should use linear rather than circular polarizers
Unless your camera has a mirror in the optical path (like a DSL), a linear polarizer generally gives stronger polarization filtering for natural phenomena like sky refraction and sea reflection. Remember to try different degrees of polarization, rather than always going for maximum.

They work to protect my lenses
I live in a very dusty area and these are great to keep my lenses protected. The polarizing functions work well when I remember to rotate the lens filter. Most of the time I forget, unless I am shooting into water, which I don't do much. Most of my pictures are taken at night and the filters do not seem to block enough light to make a difference in my pictures. Solid quality glass.

Junk, not suitable for cross-polarization photography
This filter is very low quality, I bought it for experimenting with cross-polarization, but the effect is very low. When you put two filters one after another you see maybe half stop difference between 0 degrees and 90 degrees offset between them.

Great polarizer for micro 4/3 cameras and others without phase detect autofocus
I use it with my Panasonic G85, works very well and blocks less light than a circular polarizer

The polarization is very weak
When two linear polarizers are crossed they should blackout almost to extinction. This one just gets a little bit darker. I'm pretty disappointed.

tiffen

Produit d'excellente facture. Tiffen & Hoya : 2 références sur le marché.

Suprisingly EXCELLENT!
Optically this surpasses my b+w polarizers that cost double. This polarizer is the most neutral I've used, as the more expensive German b+w's have the slightest purple tinge. I'm not a fan at all of Hoya as they have a very slight brownish tinge. If you want neutral, get a USA made Tiffen. The effect is very slight, but the Tiffen keeps the colours neutral which is more important. Build quality is aluminum, it is no better or worse than a cheap Chinese one or an expensive Japan made Hoya. The brass made b+w's are significantly better constructed. Tiffen makes a titanium version, but it is actually more expensive than b+w. The biggest let down with the Tiffen is the quality of the coating, as it is very reflective and can cause ghosting or veiling flare. This is where the Hoya and the b+w are superior. You'll have to always use a decent hood or flag to keep contrast up if your shooting into something backlit. The neutral colour performance has stunned me, and I'm seriously thinking about changing over my other b+w polarizers to Tiffen - perhaps the Titanium versions.
