Winning nationals wasnโt the only dream that came true. I also walked away with the heart of the one boy I couldnโt live without. I knew that being Jace Wilderโs girlfriend wouldnโt be simple. But how could I have known all the hurdles we would face? Drama at school? Thatโs a given. Jealous girls? That I expected. Family secrets? Not so much. At least I can always hit the trails to clear my headโฆ or so I thought. The high expectations from my winning cross country season still haunt me, and hold me hostage. I canโt seem to get psyched up for what comes next. My competitive spirit is fading and Iโm lost without it. What will I do when my one constant is no longer my safe place? Life on and off the track is spiraling out of control, leaving me in its wake as I struggle to remember who I truly am. Review: Pepper Jones Greatness Continues! Fabulous Audible Listen๐ง - All Pepped Up Pepper Jones, Book 2 By: Ali Dean Narrated by: Stacey Glemboski Ali Dean delivers more Pepper Jonesโ greatness in this second book of her series. I am loving and thoroughly enjoying this series. It is well written with interesting storylines that are completely engrossing, once you start the book you do not want to put it down. The characters are well developed and continue to grow and evolve. Pepper Jones broke things off with Ryan at the end of the 1st book and she is finally where she belongs with Jace. The two are a force to be reckoned with. Wes and Jace are on good terms and they share some info with Pepper that leaves her with mixed feelings. Pepper has some inner struggles of her own, insecurities about running and staying on top. And then there are the outside forces in the form of the mean girls who try to stir up trouble for Jace and Pepperโs relationship. Ali Dean does a great job capturing teenage angst and H.S drama. I loved how Jace handled himself and some of the challenges, mainly Mad-Evil. I also love how Pepper manages to find her inner strength in both her racing and her self confidence in her personal life. I can not recommend this book and series enough, great for any age, young adult and up. Ali Dean, thank you for another great heartfelt story I am looking forward to what comes next for these great characters. I listened to the Audible edition, Stacey Glemboski is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She continues to bring these characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality and a whole lot of heart. I love her take on these characters, she makes them sound as real as Ali Dean wrote them to be. Stacey is a talented and entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. A MUST READ & CAN'T WAIT FOR WHAT'S NEXT! - To say I have been anxious to get my hands on this book would be a HUGE understatement! The moment Pepped Up ended I needed to know where Pepper and Jace's relationship was headed. And thank goodness the wait wasn't too long! I love their relationship and how intense and protective Jace is of her. **DO NOT READ REVIEW IF YOU HAVEN'T READ BOOK 1, PEPPED UP** "It's only ever been you. No matter what other girls say, you're all that matters. It's always been like that. I'm gonna keep trying to show you." Pepper Jones has everything she has ever wanted, and it should be perfect right? Not quite. Being Jace Wilder's girlfriend is not easy. The girls from his past are always trying to step in and cause more problems for them. But there is also other unexpected complications, that catch Pepper completely by surprise. She had no idea the secrets that were being kept from her. "I should let you go," he whispers. "But I don't think I can do that." Unlike the first book, this time Pepper is the one who is struggling to find the answers. She has to learn to get over her jealousy and learn to trust Jace and their relationship. And also dealing with running, and her lack of enthusiasm in competing. She has always loved running, it frees her and clears her mind, and it still does. But does she want to continue to compete? Or has she changed too much and lost her love for it? "I'm not just an imposter. I've proven that I have the courage to race like I own the track." I loved seeing how much Jace truly loves Pepper! It was beautiful to see and watch them interact with each other. Along the way they have to learn to trust each other (he is so cute when he's jealous though) and their love for each other. But we also get to see them both grow as individuals and learn who they are. Fighting to stay together and not let anyone or any secret break the strong bond that they have always had. "You" - I point at his chest - "big bad Jace Wilder. Were afraid of losing me" _ I point to myself with a huge grin on my face - "little Pepper Jones, the girl next door?" He grabs my finger and pulls me toward him so that I'm almost sitting on his lap. "I'm still scared," he whispers gruffly. Is their love strong enough to survive? Or will it all be too much for them and break them apart? This book is a must read and I can't wait for what is next. I have to say I am hoping (and pleading) that someday Wes gets a story because I LOVE him! For me this book was a lot different than book 1, but still awesome! I love Ali's writing style and how the characters interact and flow so well. Can't wait for more from her!

Wow
great book. I am so glad I got to read the second book right away. I love this story. I have a great love for the competitive edge that Pepper has and the fact that she stood up.for herself and let her love for Jace finally happen. I love that she has her friendship back with Wes. I hope he finds someone to love him.

Full of pep
This book was good. I liked the first one better. There was just too much mean girl drama. I hope the next book is more like the first.

growing family
In this book, Pepper sees the goalposts move. What she thought was a stable if non-traditional family unit -- her and Bunny, Jace and his dad, Wesley and his parents -- is not as it seems. She is let in on a long-term secret and it shuffles things around for her. A key player moves back to town and wants to be involved in their lives. Pepper is wary and reluctant to trust people who keep secrets from her, and leave the picture, only to return. Her relationship with Jace is on the rails, pulling away from the station. While he has been out with a number of young women, a little careless with his body and the emotions of the women he has been involved with, he connects with Pepper as a boyfriend. His relationship with Pepper is the first one he has had and he cares about it and needs it. Being involved with Pepper grounds him. He starts doing his homework and making an effort to spend time with his dad and Wes. He tries to give Pepper what she needs. His hair-trigger anger seems to stabilize. He keeps his sex drive in check with Pepper. He watches over her as she tries to be more social at parties. She is learning how to behave at parties, how to drink in moderation, how to be in a hot tub with a group, how to sleep over at friends' houses when the winter weather makes driving home a bad idea. Jace helps her navigate a new set of boy and girl friends as his girlfriend. Not everyone adjusts easily to their new relationship. As for Pepper, she is discovering what being the girlfriend of a magnetic personality is like. At parties, he is the center of the room, the person who can hand his empty beer can to a passing friend at a party, who is offered the best seat in a crowded hot tub. He is a young man who is in demand and in control, and he anchors the group -- without him there are no parties. She is learning about her own magnetism as an attractive person, and her new status as the quarterback's girlfriend is not a situation she exploits. She tries to keep it on the down low. She does not want to make waves. Despite her efforts, the drama finds her. She keeps her head clear with her daily running routine. She takes care of her dog, Dave. Her relationship demands start to take up space in her life that she used to fill with running races and competing at meets. Now that she has won the national championship in cross country running, her motivation to win in the spring track events seems a little less intense, and it's confusing to her -- why is she not as engaged? She still loves to run, but is she burned out? And the college recruiting: does she want to play that game? College visits around the country seem like a lot of empty effort when all she wants is to stay local, run for her state college team and keep things on track with her grandmother and her boyfriend. It will be interesting to see how she negotiates the challenges of her senior year in the next book. Her handsome football star boyfriend will be facing his own new life at college, and her coach is encouraging her to make her own informed decision by exploring the college offers she will have from recruiters. Look forward to seeing how Pepper and Jace make a go of things in the next book.

Great continuation of the series
This book picks right up after Pepped Up. I don't want to include any spoilers, but there is plenty of awesome drama between Jace and Pepper in this book. I really like that this series covers more than just typical high school drama. These characters have a lot going on, can't wait for more

Pepped time TWO
Continued excellence as I read through the rest of Pepper's junior year of high school. More drama. More Wes (who is awesome in his own right), and more Jace and Pepper coming out stronger. I cannot wait to see what happens with Jace going off to college in the next book while Pepper continues on in HS.

Awesome
Really enjoying this series. Was a little confused on there age group at first Benn a Brit so not all too familiar with the sophomore and senior terms. Great characters and a great story line hope we see more greatness in the next book and maybe a little of Jace's p.o.v

Was a little disappointed with this book as I really enjoyed the first ...
Was a little disappointed with this book as I really enjoyed the first book and it was a large jump from book one to the second book. I think there should have been more of a description of the beginning of the relationship rather than diving straight in to a timeline that showed them three months in. Part of the draw of Pepped Up was in fact the "chase" itself. Still enjoyed it however, but not nearly as much as the first book.
