Helped to make a great looking combo!!
Just received the rod today along with Kastking reel. Very happy with both!! The blue doesn't match exactly but overall I think it looks nice. This makes for a good light weight set up. I will use 6lb line. The rod has great feel and locks out nicely. The extensions and the nut that holds the reel feels solid (not as much as a metal piece would). It was longer than I expected but I think the extra length will really help casting - I would likely need a larger reel if I had gotten one over this 6.6 (my reel was a 2000). The best part is having a nice looking, packable combo for a little over $30.00! Rod comes with a nice bag and rod tip cover. It is nice and makes me want to order another for a back up! Good job Kalex!!

Lightweight, affordable and well made.
I bought this for a backpacking trip. Purchased the 5'6" model. I am very impressed by the quality of packaging. My first impression of this rod is it is made by a company ready to compete with any other compact travel gear. I tried to find something wrong with this fishing rod but couldn't. Upon examination it's a rod I have no problem making it a permanent part of my gear inventory. The balance and lightweight of it is very comfortable in the hand. Telescoping feature is smooth with no slop like other telescoping poles I've owned. Compliments to kalex! Update: Returned from my trip. This pole was awesome. Used it for 3 days and was very successful. It was very responsive . Could feel every little bite and what the lure was doing. I will be purchasing another for my son in the near future.

Broke my first one on a 8 lb channel cat.
Not a very strong rod, But it is light and packs well.

Efficiently Designed, Durable and a Balanced Responsive Action
These sturdy poles exibit a well balanced responsive action that most will find well-suited, if not perfect, for most inland fishing. So far after using several of these rods, each one a different length, I have found them to be equally at home and performing well for everything from trout fishing to angling for river cats, large mouth bass and crappie. I’ve even found that I prefer the weight and action of these rods over a few of my other “professional” segmented rods which cost MANY times more than all of these rods put together. Each rod has proven to be well designed and constructed with the possible exception of the reel saddle mounting clamps which seem to be a little too light weight although they’ve so far continued to perform well through much “use and abuse”. Time will tell. The use of friction fit telescoping sections suggest to me that this may not be the best choice of rods for ice fishing or other below freezing fishing. I also don’t know how easy the rod’s eyelets can be replaced should the need arise but I’m sure I’ll find out later this season. I may yet audition one of these rods for some light tackle salt water fishing and see how it holds up against salt water corrosion. I’ll ammend my review with that data hopefully by later this season. Overall, dollar for dollar, these are probably among the very best light to medium action telescoping fishing rods on the market today.

Good Panfish Pole
Easy to store and carry, Extends easily, and is sensitive enough to feel when a crappie takes your bait. Can be used as a caster or as a "cane" pole. Great for jigging under trees and docks. Haven't caught anything bigger than a pound yet, but it handles the weight of the fish without straining. Able to pull the fish out of the water with a six foot lift from the water to the dock surface without creaking or splitting. I am very satisfied, and I recommend this pole to anyone who is looking to get to all those pan fish that hide in hard to get to places.

Always break 2nd length, They look nice and that’s about all they have going for them.
The poles break 2nd liter from top on all of 5 I bought for me and my family. No Kalex customer service at all! They don’t even respond. They look nice an that’s about all. Went up to Maine for fishing and had to buy new set ups! Very disappointing! Read all the other reviews and you will see what quality these are! Shameful!

Great pole, except that it will break.
This fishing pole actually functions as it should, bought two of them, one broke reeling in a small fish after 1 year and the other broke reeling in a small fish after 4 months. Not very durable, to say the least, emailed and called customer service, no answer and the phone line is disconnected. The second level from the top is flawed and defected breaks every time. I hate leaving a poor review, but they specifically include a card with the product saying if you are ever unhappy call or email them. BUYER BEWARE!

Decent for the price ..7-8 out of ten!
I bought this rod for a trip to Hawaii cause I wanted something small enough to fit in my bags and still be a decent lenght rod ...this thing was pretty good casting 1oz to 1-1/4 oz jigs and lures .the only downfall of this rod was the aluminum end plate had come loose and it was annoying and the rod had taken a fall while collapsed and bent the last eye..I bent it back still worked good enough...then after a few days backpacking it the top eye of the rod had come loose and was rotating got pretty annoyed with having to mess with it so I end cutting it down.ran it like that for the reminder of the trip..still functional.. pros: cheap ,compact good length Cons : durability ,too flimsy at the top causing you to miss strikes.. I would buy on again in a different weight class..( mine was 12' m 1/2oz to 1-1/2oz weight)..even though the tip was less stout the the rest of the rod I gave it a few hot suppers and it never broke..til it had a fall..7 -8 out of 10
