Truly Authentic Ingredients-Tastes Like Home
I live in the US and there aren’t any Ethiopian places within an hour of my location. I have been picking up berbere blends wherever I could find them-World Market, Amazon-you name it. Unfortunately, none of them had the color or flavor that I was used to in Ethiopian cuisine. I tried looking for the authentic spices to make my own blend, but had no luck. After years of searching, I finally stumbled upon this brand. I was happy to see that it is Ethiopian owned and operated. I was going to buy all the herbs and spices separately, but then I saw this company makes a Berbere blend also! I couldn’t find an ingredient list online, so I took a chance on purchasing, and am glad I did! The heat from this berbere is warming yet palatable (not “making you sweat” hot, which some of us Ethiopian and heat lovers may be used to lol). The blend is fragrant and has chili, cardamom, basil and others herbs and spices that are native to Ethiopia-something that has been lacking in other “authentic” blends that I’ve paid more for. I bought the 2 oz container, which was generously packed to the brim, and am wondering how long this last me. The larger bag is already calling my name haha. Thank you for creating this brand and its mission. It helps people like me who don’t have easy access to our cultural items, and those who are interested in Ethiopian culture/cuisine to try it from the comfort of their home!

Awesome all around spice with layers of flavor
The only berbere we use! We love this brand and this spice blend is perfect for adding complex flavor as well as layered spiciness, works great in chili. My husband uses it on everything from eggs to beans. The quality is excellent. We have repurchased this several times. Its always the same and its always delicious. There are other berbere blends around but we like this one the best. By far.

Delicious
Don't hesitate, this is good stuff. We have a fair amount of Ethiopian food in Denver and this is just as good.

Good, but too mild
The flavor is very good, but in the chili department it seems to have been blanded down for American tastes. It needs to be hotter. The same is true of their mitmita, which is much too mild. Perhaps Brundo could offer a 2 oz bottle or an 8 oz bag of African bird chilis for people who want to make their Ethiopian dishes even hotter. I just added some jalapeños to the sega wot I made today with this berbere, and when I do tere sega again with their mitmita I will make some stuffed jalapeños to go with it.

Brundo Berbere Chili Blend - A wiinner!
Brundo Berbere Chili Blend has a unique flavor profile that is BOLD! The spice blend comes as a fine powder, and a little goes a long way, I've bought this a few times now and haven't bothered trying any other berbere brand. IMHO this spice will enhance the flavor profile of your dish (used it with beef, chicken dishes, veggies like lentil stews and dips etc.) This does have a little heat to it, but if used right, it will kick up the flavor experience of your dish. Used it this past Superbowl to enhance the flavor of one of our dips, and of the 4 dips we had on the table, the one with the berbere won out. Product has "no artificial additives or preservatives—just pure, traditional Ethiopian spices." I'm not a chef or an expert on Ethiopian cuisine, but I know what I like. Brundo Berbere Chili Blend is a winner!

Amazing flavor!
My family loves Ethiopian cuisine, and we get to our local restaurant as often as possible. It’s a fabulous place but a bit of a drive. I thought I’d try my hand at tibs - my fave and it didn’t sound impossible but I needed help with the seasoning. I’ve experimented a little and this is by far my favorite blend of berbere. A little heat and a lot of flavor - a small amount goes a long way. Using this plus niter kibbeh (also from Brundo, highly recommend!) gave me tibs similar to what I’ve eaten in restaurants. I’ve since bought some other blends from Brundo and have yet to find one we don’t love.
