Bought this because my new Mac had all USB-C ports rather than tthe more traditional USB ones. This offered a way to extend the devices attached to the machine. It works fine on portable drives and iPods, iPads linked to the Mac. However, iPhones are another story.If you plug in an iPhone, Photos starts up - no problem there - but the connection drops every 30 seconds or so, then re-establishes itself only to continue dropping out. This makes it awkward to transfer photographs to the Mac or even to charge the iPhone in peace. iPhones are better linked directly, rather than through a hub.

I’ve been using this for some months now to be able to connect more ports ti my laptops. It’s lightweight and has been doing a great job. Very easy to use just plug in and it works straight away. It solved my problem.

(Edit: Issues with my mouse mentioned below are due to a firmware problem with my work laptop and not this dongle, have changed scored to reflect this - if you have an DELL XPS 9500 or earlier then you may have issues using this with your thunderbolt port, 9510 on appear to have fixed the problem) Good little USB Hub that has been working great for the past month on my Dell XPS Laptop that I use for work. No problems using it with Windows and has been able to support a bunch of peripherals. So far I've managed to connect the below devices that I'll separate into two groups. • No problem at all: - 16GB USB Flash Drive - Wired Keyboard - Wired Mouse - Digital Drawing Pad - USB A to C Cable for charging my Phone and transferring data • Minor Issues: - Wireless Gaming Mouse As you can see the Wireless Mouse is the only thing that the Hub struggled with and even then it still worked, there was just some latency that I personally couldn't stand. I switch my Mouse's bluetooth reciever over to my Dell Dongle (USB C to HDMI and 1 USB A port) and haven't had problems since. Whether this is explicitly a problem with the USB Hub or my Mouse is difficult to say but I think that the hub is worth the money if you are using wired and worth a chance if you prefer your wireless peripherals.

Assuming this lasts a decent while (I’ve just started using it having acquired a new laptop with USB C ports), then I’d say it’s very good especially for the modest price. It enables me to use my older USB A gear such as external drive, printer and wireless mouse transmitter with my new laptop. It even complements it colour wise being finished in silvery grey just like my MacBook!

This small hub works well. There are a few tips for buyers. 1. the cable is short and also seems sturdy. This means it is not highly flexible and aligning the hub may be tricky. If this matters to you, consider one with a longer cable. 2. The hub looks good but it is all plastic. The case is not metal (although it does look like it) 3. The hub can be powered but there is no cable nor power supply. Without power it did not deliver enough power from the USB C source to one of my peripherals. However, using a USB micro input to the end of the hub (connected to power bank), the peripheral works. If you will likely need power, you'll need either to buy a power supply (standard hone charger will probably be fine) and cable, or get a hub that comes with the power supply. For peripherals that just transfer data, this is fine on its own.
