Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1975 album from the Detroit-based Soul vocal group. Working with producer Don Davis, songwriter Tony Hester and key musician/songwriter Michael Henderson - the team who had been responsible for their breakthrough Volt hits - among others, The Dramatics (L.J. Reynolds, Willie Ford, Ron Banks, Larry "Squirrel" Demps and Lenny Mayes) scored a US Top 10 R&B charted album with Drama V, thanks to standout tracks such as 'Just Shopping (Not Buying Anything),' 'Dramatic Theme/Treat Me Like a Man' (both penned by Henderson) and 'I Was the Life of the Party.' Review: Drama V - I love the Dramatics, all of their songs so this CD is perfect for me. All the songs are great on this CD Review: Finally - I have waited years for this version to be on CD. This is one of my favorite groups of all time. Total please with this cd and i would highly recommend this cd to others. In my opinion this is probably the best album that the Dramatics ever did. I love all of their music, but this one is a home run. Just Shopping and the Life of the Party are classics. Both of these songs almost make you want to cry. Now if you guys can get the Dramatics " Do what you want to do" i will feel complete as far as the Dramatics goes. One of the best R & B groups of all time!

Award Winning Performance!
Once again, the Dramatics deliver total sonic enjoyment with their interpretation of soulful lyrics backed by inspired arrangements, discriminating production values, first-rate digital remastering and a who's who of studio session musicians. Brief historical information about the formation of the group and creation of the nine tracks contained on the original vinyl album is found in this CD reissue sixteen-page insert.

The Best of Old School Groups
The day of male singing groups has become a thing of the past. The 5-part harmonies, melodic tone quality, and overall presentation gives this group a sense of class and style that we all either wanted to emulate or fantasize. The potent loves songs or despair of heartbreak is conveyed in each song that paints a picture or a funky upbeat tune that we sway our bodies to. This is another "Detroit" sound at its finest. Boy, do we love those Dramatics.

Finally on Cd!
It's good to see that this classic Dramatics album finally made its way to compact disc after so many years of just being on vinyl. And that's if you could find it then. Looking forward to the "Joy Ride" album coming out on cd in a few more weeks. Now I just wish that they would issue the other Dramatic title albums on disc with its original album covers from the ABC years. Those titles would be "Shake It Well, Do What You Wanna Do, and The Dells vs. The Dramatics".

Great music, but "digitally remastered" claim misleading
Like the other reviewers, I've waited for this one to be released on CD for a long time. It's one of the Dramatics better albums, and the music is great, no doubt about it. However, like Michael Green above, I also noticed right away that this is sourced from vinyl. If you listen to the silence as one track fades and before the next begins, you will hear some noise reduction artifacts as well as telltale vinyl surface noise and rumble. Between some tracks there's something that seems like bleedthrough of other music in the distant background. Don't get me wrong -- this is a very good needledrop and the sound quality's pretty good, but claims of "digitally remastered" seem a stretch and will tend to mislead potential buyers who may have expectations of sonic revelations sourced from original master or session tapes. If you're a fan of the Dramatics, I'd still recommend purchase, but know what you're getting.

I've always loved the Dramatics
I've always loved the Dramatics, one of the best vocal groups of the seventies. They did not disappoint with this release, which features some of their smoothest, most heartfelt songs. The bittersweet "I Was the Life of the Party", the bold, brassy "Treat Me Like a Man" and the jazzy "Just Shopping" are wonderful standouts.

Great '70s vocal group- superb slick harmonies
Great '70s vocal group- superb slick harmonies. Unfortunately the sound quality is a bit compressed and therefore isn't quite as sharp and crisp as it could be- that cotton wool in the ears experience which lets the side down and drops a star as a result
