Does this radio work with Kenwood Nexedge digital?

No, it will not. The only digital it will receive is unencrypted P25 phase I and unencrypted P25 Phase II.

Can this scanner do P25 phase 1?

Yes, it can pick up Phase 1 and Phase 2.

Can this be programmed with a pc like the bcd436 can? i understand there's no zip code feature but can it still be set up via pc?

Yes, PC programming is the way to go. Do not worry about that zip code stuff, found it to be a joke and load too much crap. Radio Reference is the thing to use, and be picky about what you want to load. Too easy to overload yourself.

Can you use Nickel-zinc based rechargeable batteries in the 325P2?

We recommend only using Ni-MH batteries or Alkaline batteries. The product manual from Uniden lists these 2 batteries as the power requirements. Hope this helps!
