Could be the Best Intro MIG Welder for the Price
This is my first welder and now that I'm really into welding, I know that it's not going to be my last. But that doesn't mean it's not a great intro-level MIG welder. It's served me very, very well and never failed me. In fact, through several years of welding with it now, it's never failed me once. Now that I'm more advanced I might want a better regulator and gun and maybe even a 220 powered machine ... but this thing has been great. My video is from a recent roof rack welding project of mine using this welder. I use it inside and outside, and you'll see that i welded up a simple cart for the welder just so I can move it and the tank around. If you're new to MIG you'll need a tank and gas to make this baby work. I got mine at a local welding store. YOu'll also need more wire, as it comes with a very small spool. I found cheap wire at HFreight. Look for other welding accessories and you should be good to go (a mask is essential, you may also want gloves and magnets and the stuff for cleaning/protecting the head of the welder). This welder is entirely plus-and-play, meaning it was easy for me to learn how to use. MIG is a great place to start making solid welds, and I've been very happy with this affordable machine.

Money well spent.
Wire that comes with it welds well. Gun is decent. I chose to grind one of the included nozzles down till it was flush with the tip. It welded a little cold before doing that like it had too much stickout. Afterward, the weld profile was much flatter and had better fusion at the toe. I also have switched the nozzle over on the gun so that I hold it like a tig torch. I'm not entirely sure how anyone points the nozzle down on a MIG and still hits the trigger, but everyone seems to do it. I can't though. I need to sit down and prop a pinky on something to weld smoothly. This gun allowed me to do that and use my index finger for the trigger. I really like that. The regulator is good. The machine seems to read accurately. I thought the ground cable was a bit dinky looking, but it doesn't get hot like my TIG machine clamp does at even 60amps. Some reviewers had an issue with the feed mech? Not sure if the company fixed it, but I've had zero problems running the wire that came with the machine. No slipping or birds nesting whatsoever, even with the cable in non-ideal positions.

Responsive and Responsible Company
This is the first, sincere review I've left for a product on amazon. My conscious would not be clear if I didnt. Truly a company that stands by their product. Much past the first year of my ownership of the welder I had a wierd issue arise that would cause the wire to just ball up as it came out of the gun and eventually just fall to the floor. I found that the wire feed mechanism was malfunctioning and the welder in general making a pretty loud racket. I contacted support and after some back and forth of photos and videos describing my problem they sent me both a new circuit board and and new feed motor assembly. This didnt fix the issue so they sent me out a replacement welder and paid postage to send the one I was having issues with back to them. Keep in mind this well past any warranty. This welder works perfectly and while i was initially frustrated at it failing to work reliably I was amazed at their efforts to make it right for me. Even when they had every ground to make me pay for shipping and for repair. All in all. A solid company to deal with that takes responsibility for their products. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get a decent welder at this price.

If you're looking for a knurled drive roller for flux core...
Amazon sells this (yes, knurled is misspelled), [CHNsalescom 0.8-0.9 Kunrled-Groove Mig Welder Wire Feed Drive Roller Roll .030"-.035"] that fits the Lotos. It takes a while to arrive as it ships directly from China, but the seller includes all of the dimensions for the roller so you can verify that they are the same as the one in the welder with a digital caliper. So far I have only used my Lotos for flux core and haven't even done that much. It worked well for the little I used it and seems to be built well. This welds flux core much better than my previous welder which was AC output. Running DCEN makes a lot of difference in the splatter and having infinite control of wire feed speed and output voltage is nice. I also like the digital read outs. It makes it easier to keep track of settings that work well for you rather than trying to remember how far between 4 & 5 on the dial you were. Also, with the readout you see actual volts which would probably make it easier to transfer what you know from this machine to another machine (assuming it also showed you the actual voltage.)

Not enough heat no penetration
They said that this would weld 1/4 inch in a single pass total balogna if you want to weld tinfoil maybe but get a real welder if you want to weld more than 1/8 inch as this one has no penetration I had it turned up all the way and tried pulling to get more heat and still no penetration! I’m highly disappointed! I have also had lots of trouble with it spooling the wire, I’ve probably wasted as much wire pulling it out trying to get it to spool as I have welded. Buy something else is there any 120 volt welder that will actually weld? Well here’s an update on the welder- I was using flux core wire that I bought at harbor freight as I was welding outside and don’t have any gas yet not that it would do any good outside anyway. I stopped by the welding supply store and bought a roll of Lincoln wire, what a difference I now have no problem with the wire spooling and seem to get a little better penetration also maybe this welder will do small jobs if you get some decent wire to put in it. I won’t be buying any more welding wire at harbor freight that’s for sure!

Good welder small issues
I had ordered this welder once before but when it arrived it wouldn't feed wire so I sent it back And waited. Few months later I seen where the drive system was updated to all aluminum and decided to try again since it was cheaper still than other welders. It arrived in decent time. I did have to purchase flux core wire as it comes with solid but everything worked right out of the box. You can NOT weld with solid wire without shielding gas, it will not weld properly. A few days after I got it, it quit feeding wire. Instead of sending it back I decided to take a look at it see what was wrong. Pulled the handle apart and found a wire had come loose from the trigger switch. Could've been a weak solder, could've been something I done. I soldered it back together and have had no more problems since. It makes good welds for a 110v welder with flux wire. I've welded with forneys and hobarts and high grade Miller's. This unit welds just as good as the hobarts of the same size. If I had to go back I would do it again. It's cheaper than other welders and welds just as good. Edit: 1 year after previous review. Welder is still working flawlessly. I have welded everything from thin exhaust pipe to heavy gauge steel tubing. It welds great every time. Still have not tried it with gas only flux. Seen a review that said they had to pay to return item. I personally went through Amazon with my return and did not cost me anything, and was fully refunded. All and all I still say great welder. Even if I did have some initial trouble, no company I have ever shipped with has been perfect every time. Edit: year is 2021-welder is still working flawlessly. Have had zero problems(besides initial solder issue) since purchase 6 years ago. I have switched to gas and this welder is even better. It welds just as good or better than Lincoln, Forney, or any other in its class. The rubber jacket on my welding lead is starting to crack from age and use but still works fine.

The mig handle broke
The mig handle where the nozzle is broken . It would require a new unit. Not impressed

Great welder with an affordable price!
Great welder regardless if you're welding with MIG or Fluxcore! The only downside to this welder is the lack of customer support and interchangeable accessories as seen with Hobart and Miller products. This is to be expected, however, due to the inexpensive price of the unit. She will run a perfect bead at a constant feed rate and is very easy to operate. The only downside is the extremely vague users manual and the lack of customer support. If you want a quality welder at a novice price then this is the unit for you! Don't expect to start a welding business with this, but you can expect to be pleasantly surprised by the performance of this one. I would gladly buy again in a heartbeat (except this is a wonderful machine and I won't need to for a long time!) P.S.-the manual doesn't really mention a whole lot about flux-core wire and that is mainly what I run due to the ability to be used anywhere in any condition. It welds great and as long as you use a little common sense and swap the polarity (which is easy to do with this machine) you will be just fine!
