Close to perfect - performs the job
Our dryer vent goes straight up in the wall, into the ceiling, and the horizontally outside, where it makes another 90 degree U-bend outside. It is about 27 feet long, with a square 2x4โ duct in the wall, and the rest are 5โ hard ducting. From 30+ years of use, it was clogged - the symptom was that the dryer โclean lint filterโ came on often, sometimes with an error message about clogged duct, and finally the heating element burned out. At closer inspection, lots of lint behind the dryer and washer, and two wasp nests at the outside opening. The vent cleaner kit is close to perfect. The one foot rod segments are made of flexible polyethylene and screw together in normal clockwise direction. On one end, you have a 1/4โ attachment for an electric driver, and the other end attaches one of the two brushes. The kit comes with a round 4โ brush for cleaning the duct, and 1โ elongated brush for cleaning inside the lint chute. You operate it by adding segment by segment, and then in reverse you go out, taking one segment off at a time. The rods are made of PE, so if you apply too much torque they twist-off, destroying the rod - this is to protect your duct from being torn apart. I destroyed three of the segments, until I understood the max torque I can use, setting the driver clutch correctly. Since our duct was entirely closed and lint on the duct-walls was tough like felt, it took a lot of afford and multiple hours of work. The rods made all bends, but the one from the round duct into the square. It made it in about 20 feet from both directions, overlapping somewhere inside. It should have made the bend coming from the square to round side, but I guess, there is too much torque required when all bends add up. There are two problems I encountered, while the cleaner kit was great in loosening the fibers from the wall, it was not as easy to get them actually out. I went in probably 10-times from both side, pulling out a bucket full of fibers each. In the end, I decided to use a gas-powered leave blower to blow-out the loosened fiber, which resulted in a spectacular show of a fiber-fountain. The second problem is the rods that are connecting via CW threads. They are easy to put on, but really difficult to get off. I tried to hold the second rod, and turn the driver CCW, but this would disconnect half of the time the rod, and half of the time the driver bit at the end, in which case you need some pliers. The other big warning is, unlike other segmented drill bits, you DO NOT turn it CCW when going out. Always CW, otherwise you will lose segments in the duct - it happened to me but I was able to fish it out. Overall, short of calling a contractor, the product worked close to perfect. Btw, cleaning the vent in the dryer and the dryer-vent-hose was super easy as fibers were not felted onto the walls, yet. If your duct is short, and is regularly cleaned, it will take you perhaps an hour. In my case, it ended up taking all Sunday.

Worked great - solved problems of clothes taking too long to dry and lint trap not working!
Moved and got new dryer for the new place, but noticed the lint trap was not collecting any lint. Also, the dryer was taking forever to dry clothes (like 90+min a load that should have been dry in ~30min). Looking into these issues I found they were both related to low flow through the dryer vent system. That's when I found this kit. Worked great to clear the 20+ foot dryer vent line. The rods make it easy to reach your endpoint, it's lightweight, fits the drain line perfectly, and the drill made it easy to drive it past the points it was hanging up, with just steady, slow clockwise turning. The brush is also high quality with plenty of bristle, not too stiff or soft, but just right for the job. This line happened to have dirt in it and was nearly completely blocked in two places. The brush cleared it easily. Well worth the price of $19.99. Would buy again. The only 'con' which is not a con but a plus actually, is that you will need two pair of pliers to undo the rods, if using a drill with it, as the turning of the rods (by the drill) tightens them beyond the ability to undo them by hand. I used this kit in combo with my leaf blower, 'snaking' the vent line with the brush kit from the outside in, then blowing it from the inside out. Repeated this process 4 or 5 times until the blower was no longer expelling debris. Now the dryer is drying clothes in 1/3 the time, (~30 min) and the lint trap is working! A success. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you are having issues with your clothes taking unusually long to dry, or your lint trap is not working... or just to use for annual maintenance. Before using the kit I turned on the dryer and could barely feel any air movement at the outside vent. After using it, there was a nice flowing breeze coming out. Two thumbs up for me.

This thing hauled out a ton of lint (and a gross amount of hair) from my dryer vent. It screwed together easy. Rookie mistake- I assembled the rod in two lengths and then took it outside between mine and the neighbours home. My dryer, in the middle of the home, was 16ft in from the outside wall. Although the rod is flexible, it will not twist /screw in correctly if bent, and will not feed in. I had to disassemble and go one rod at a time, I found it fed in much smoother this way. When cold, and with a bit of snow on it, I needed pliers to unscrew the lengths. However, I suppose I would much rather it tight than come apart inside the vent! Great product, have lent it to several friends already.
