Demo Worthy 4K Release!
I bought this set as it was on offer for £110, I had a £25 amazon gift card so for £85 it was a no brainer.I have the original blurays and whilst they are demo worthy in their own right, The 4K transfers of this show are on another level. The Fine details in clothes, the surroundings i mean i just cant describe how gorgeous this show looks in 4K.The HDR/DV add’s another lovely yet subtle layer to the mix, Im glad HBO decided not to completely blow out the shows contrast, Brightness or colours. They have respected the shows original look and only enhanced it and the results are breathtaking.Season 1 was filmed and finished in 1080p and so the 4K discs are an upscale from 1080p to 4K and they still look amazing, The added resolution and HDR adds layers to this already demo worthy set.The audio is another reason to grab this set, The atmos is simply immersive and although the atmos is also featured on the bluray's the added 4K resolution with the atmos audio is just a delight.A-load of the bonus features are ported over to this set also, with some featuring on the episode discs and the 2 bonus discs included and what is also cool is they feature the animated movie they released years ago also.Overall if own the blurays already and you ate looking to upgrade then wait for it to be below £100 but if you have never owned this show before then this set is the definitive way to watch this show.Video Quality: 9/10Audio Quality: 10/10Bonus Features: 8/10Value for Money: 8/10OVERALL: 8/10HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Excellent series , better detail all round !
Lovely 4K resolution Blu-ray boxset . My mother who is in her 80s has watched all the Game of Thrones episodes on DVD and 1080p Blu-Ray box sets ! She enjoyed the plots , costumes and scenery very much . We recently invested in a new 4K TV , with a bigger sized screen than we had before , plus a new 4K player to go with it , because she is losing her sight . She has started watching it afresh with a larger picture and glorious resolution ! Good sound too ! Hope this helps . Recommended !

FOR THE IRON THRONE (QUITE SIMPLY 'A MUST WATCH')
Around 8 years in the making George R.R. Martin's 'SONG OF ICE ANDFIRE' became one of the most followed made for TV spectacles ever screened.A compelling epic which overall would take some three-days of continuous viewing towatch is for myself probably and there have been many a great series, this in myfavourite view.If you last followed the series over 8 years like myself, you'll remember some significantmoments overall watch again it will be as fresh and exciting as it was first time around. The 4K boxset contains 33 discs, other than the 3 extra's discs (Blu-ray) all are in 4Konly......The 4K visually is outstanding, the many, many special-effects benefiting greatly.Adapted from the book-series entitled A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE by George R.R Martinthough in truth the final book had not yet been written, I do suspect the producers ofthe epic probably expected it to be when they set out.The final series came in for much criticism from many, overall it was indeed quite aspectacle to watch. (am sure when and if George R.R.Martin does complete it willbevery different)A story of treachery, violence and deception coupled with scenes of a sexual naturewith nudity and indeed much strong language, coupled with many well staged battlesequences. The story is told from many angles which eventually come together. From the outset a hint of the threat from 'White-Walkers' is evident which will increaseand intensify as the series builds.Though there are indeed many characters included along the way from the seven kingdoms of Westeros the story centres upon the Starks from Winterfell in the north, we follow the fate of each including John Snow (Kit Harington) Ned Starks bastard son, along with Arya Stark (Masie Williams) and sister Sansa (Sophie Turner) and crippled brother Bran ( Isaac Hempstead Wright')And from Kings Landing in the South we follow in the main the fortunes of the Lannister'sthe outsider of the family, but probably the one with a brain Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) the calculating and tyrannical Cersei (Lena Headey) and king-slayer yet honourable Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau)And from over the sea (Daenerys Targaryen (Emillia Clarke) mother-of-dragons who is determined to retake what had been stolen from her family Westeros and the seven kingdoms. There are indeed dozens of key characters followed also worthy of a mention of course.Although all armies appear to be rivals they will have to come together to have any chance of defeating the threat and staying alive against the vast Army of The Dead but will they all rally to the cause ?A superior series worthy of a 4k investment to re-view or indeed watch for the first time.Footnote - Fist time of viewing took over 8 years, this time around 15 days of intense viewing.

Picture quality is awful
I have given this 5 stars only because I really like the show . But I have to say the picture quality is a complete let down and at times is unwatchable , due to horrendous amounts of digital distortion and blocking. And also I found finger marks on the playing surface of the discs, obviously this has been in the hands of someone else previously which is not good enough as I purchased this under the impression that it's never been used before i.e brand new . It's just not up to the standard expected.

TV series of the past decade, but boxed set is not without flaws
I purchased this DVD having only intermittently watched the TV series and was waiting for the final boxed set to watch it from start to finish. It can be described as Imperial Rome meets Wars of the Roses, with fantasy thrown in. I particularly enjoyed the political manoeuvrings and betrayals and each season is full of them. The Machiavellian Lord Petyr Baelish, played so superbly by Aidan Gillen encompasses this superbly. Other truly fantastic performances are headed by the wonderful Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) and Conleth Hill (Lord Varys). But the accent and character of a newcomer, John Bradley (Samwell Tarley) warm the heart throughout the seasons. In my opinion the performances of Kit Harrington and certainly Alfie Allen are very overrated. There has been considerable criticism of the last season (8) but I thought it tied the series up quite neatly - my criticism is that perhaps too many of the earlier season were too slow-moving and the critics expected the ending to be more of a fairytale or similarly slow-moving.My main criticism of the show was that it was far too dark for too much of the show - really frustrating not to be able to see all of the knifing and killing or all of a room where the action is. The DVD commentaries drone on about how great the lighting is / was -i do not concur. My other criticism of the DVD boxed set is the sub-standard commentaries. Too often there is one episode which has 3 commentaries - why? Why not get all those with something to enhance the viewer's experience together at one time and save 2.5 hours. Why do the audio commentators state on a lot of the commentaries - nobody watches these commentaries "get a life". Really annoying and disrespectful to the audience who helped pay your salaries for many years. I would advise anyone to miss any commentary with Lena Hedley (Cersei Lannister), Sophie Turner (Stansa Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) and Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) as their commentaries are mostly puerile, fascile, add nothing to our understanding and sprinkled with childish giggles. George RR Martin, Deborah Riley, Greg Middleton and Jeremy Podeswa are fantastic and really informative. However, towards the end of the season one can detect that the producers (Weiss & Benioff) and Harrington are suffering from inflated egos and their success. The deterioration of Kit from being a really sensible, down to earth guy in the commentaries to season 8 is very disturbing is tangible and i was not surprised that he had "issues" as a result of this very good series.

Me gusta

Excellent colln
Super hit collection in 4K. Seller sold at cheaper price. The seller's prices are always reasonable. Actually, I don't have the idea of purchasing it. Price of the product attracted me to do it.

Sehr empfehlenswert!
Hervorragendes Bild, der Ton etwas leise, aber nichts Schlimmes. Wir waren von allen Extras und Blicken hinter die Kulissen begeistert und der Videoguide ist ein Plus, mit dem wir nicht gerechnet hatten. Ausgezeichnete Idee, sehr empfehlenswert!
