I used this to replace a worn-out valve and wand on my Version1 Silvia. It's a very good value! The upgrade works wonderfully. Frothing is more efficient. The valve requires very little torque to shut off the steam. It would be better if the vendor had provided a video showing how it should be installed. Hint: Loosen the ball joint (keeping wand looselt attached), place the wand through the hole in the case, and then attach the valve to the supply line. Finally, tighten the ball joint.

Wow! What an upgrade to my Gen 1 Silvia. Heavy duty, love the 360 degree swivel capabilitiy, and a very positive start/stop valve vs original which tended to leak a little. And with the thick stem and nozzle being the same size with no gaps, no hang ups for dried milk to cake on. One wipe and your done. Great video online which walks you through the install. Gen 1 folks will have a few more screws to remove as the hole that holds the valve isn’t open at the top like the newer versions. It literally is a 10 minute job. Cleaned the hoses while at it too! Highly recommend!

My Silvia is over 20 years old, it works great but the valve leaked, spitting when pulling a shot, and soaking the counter while waiting for the steam to come up. As mine is an older unit, the wand only pivoted, it didn't swivel fully. In about 15 minutes with a #2 Phillips and a wrench I had the parts replaced. I don't know why I didn't do so earlier as this is had definitely restored some of the lost functionality of this machine.

This is an excellent upgrade to older Silvias - and seems to be the main improvement made on Version 3 machines. A Seattle Coffee Gear video provided great step-by-step instructions to installing the replacement, offering some very helpful hints. It was a quick project (even quicker if you have all of the right size wrenches), and resulted in much-improved steam wand operation. Silvia rocks!

Works fine but steam tip turned blue after several uses.

Pricey upgrade, but worth it considering the poor quality of the stock steam wand on the older Silvias. Mine is a V2 and the original steam wand on that machine is substantially inferior and prone to leaks. Aside from this upgrade being a ball joint, the wand itself is heavier and larger. The action of the valve is also more precise and cuts off water flow completely when closed, unlike the original valve. Subtract a star because the replacement process is a little trickier than the lone youtube video I could find on the topic suggests (this part comes with no instructions). Ease of installation depends on which version Silvia you have. The version in the video is more current and installation is easier. The older Silvias' frames vary slightly from the one in the video and installation on these machines is a little more difficult. Basically boils down to having to disassemble the valve first when installing on an older Silvia. The fully assembled wand otherwise will not fit into place properly. This complication doesn't exist on newer Silvias. Since the newer Silvias (beginning with V3 I believe) already come stock with this improved steam wand, that lone video I mentioned earlier is most helpful for someone with a current version Silvia looking to replace the wand like for like. That same video can cause some head scratching for someone with an older Silvia looking for help with an upgrade.

Very happy with the upgrade. I've had my Silvia since '04 and have never been satisfied with my ability to get a nice amount of froth. Also, and more importnat to me was that my steam wand was LOUD; it produced a horrible shreik. With the wand upgrade those prblems are in the past. The new wand allows my to easily produce enough froth for two drinks, and I don't have wear ear protection ( no joke). Great upgrade. Highly recommended.

Very nice product. Fit and finish are exceptional, and constructed from quality materials. Excellent improvement over version 2 wand. My only exception to the purchase was packaging. Came loose in a plastic bag, but escaped damage by quality of construction and materials.

My Sylvia's steam valve gasket was wearing out and it's almost impossible to buy a new one, so I decided to replace the whole assembly. I was glad I went this route because the new one is redesigned so there's no lip at the tip of the wand, which was a pet peeve when cleaning clotted milk off the wand. The tip is now tapered. My Sylvia is a V3, about 12 years old and this is a great replacement part at a reasonable price compared to other sites selling it.

Die Dampflanze ist im gelieferten Zustand so fest aufgedreht, dass sie nicht zu schließen ist. Habe dies dem Lieferanten mitgeteilt und warte nun auf Feedback. Grundsätzlich sieht die Dampflanze besser aus als die ursprügnlich eingebaute. Ergänzung: Die Dampflanze ist vom Service sofort ausgetauscht worden und nun funktioniert sie einwandfrei.

Installed on a v2. Wand is now more flexible. Steam is also about 2x more powerful. I think its because the valve is bigger. Installation is easy if you remove the wand from the valve first. Update: It's been a couple of days. Frothing milk up to correct temperature now takes 1/3 of the time. Steam is very powerful. Valve can now fully close. No more drips. Overall length of this wand vs v2 wand is longer. (about 1.5 to 2 cm longer.) Even though it's more flexible, I had to tip my frothing cup at a steeper angle to get it under the wand.
