I bought this model of Homedics sound machine years ago and still use it every night in my bedroom. It really helps drown out street noise and I am used to running a sound machine for many years now. I use the calm sound and then click on the tone button 4 times every time I turn it on. I really like the 'tone' option, since certain tones/frequencies bug my ear. I wish Homedics included this on other models. I needed a second machine because my air cleaner machine that I used in the front room died and the lack of 'white' noise from that machine's fan was very noticeable to me, so I looked around to get another sound machine. I am glad this seller had this older model, I received it very quickly and it was new in an unopened box.

I purchased this for my daughter who has a very hard time falling asleep, and is constantly complaining about the back ground nose in the house when she goes to sleep. She hears everything, the dogs walking, our TV whatever the noise she hears it. This machine has been a dream come true. She has no issues since using this machine, my husband even likes it so much we may get one for our room too. This machine is easy to use and has a good selection of white noises to chose from. My daughter likes the rain or the ocean back sounds. This was a great purchase and has helped all of us tremendously! The timer works fine, and have has no issues since we set it up in December.

We have this machine in every bedroom in the house! We originally purchased this to drown out noisy next door neighbors + dog and instantly fell in love! It works so well that our baby and toddler was easily able to nap with a party of 15+ people downstairs. I don't know what we'd do without this machine! Update : also drowns out a jackhammer and babies slept no problemNote: our first three were purchased from a popular bed and bath retailer. This machine in particular is backwards from the others we have, so i'm not sure if the electronics were setup incorrectly or if they changed the setup. On this machine, the high pitch is to the right and deep to the left.We only like one setting: calm on the deepest pitch. It drowns out mostly everything and even did well on July 4th neighborhood mayhemFINAL UPDATE: like other reviewers , this machine purchased via Amazon was defective from the get go and has since stopped working . It will light up with power but no sound . The ones purchased from a popular retailer years earlier are still going strong. Now I'm back deciding whether to chance it here on Amazon again or drive to a physical store for re-purchase

My problem with this machine is not that it's not good quality or easy to use or well made with good volume. My only problem, but it was a deal breaker, is that every sound sounded WAY too much alike. I returned it and ordered another Homedics machine with distinct rain, ocean, etc. Unfortunately, it worked fantastically until one day about a month later, it just stopped working. At first I was a bit skeptical about this noise machine, having read numerous reviews. I also did not know if I would like the fact that it had "white noise" only. However, now after using it for over a year I could not be happier with it. In fact, I bought the more expensive model with nature sounds for my girlfriend. This noise machine is really good quality. I have used it for 6-8 hours a night and over a year later its still going strong. It has a couple different settings/tones for the white noise and volume is adjustable. Works extremely well, I live off of a pretty busy street and unfortunately have noise neighbors as well. This thing drowns all of that out. Since I got it I have not woken up due to outside noise, except maybe once or twice. For the price, this is a must have if you live in a noisy environment.

This sound machine was to be a replacement for one exactly like it we have had for many years. The setting memory does not work, and the blue lights never go off. If I had not had one like it I might not know this is not working properly. I will be returning it.

I have had this same sound machine for 4 years now and my husband and I cannot sleep without it. We recently moved my son into his own room so we bought a sound machine for him as well. We tried a few different "baby" sound machines and he was not happy with it. This sound machine provides white noise like no other sound machine I have tried. My absolute favorite feature of this sound machine is that you can pick the white noise you want (4 different choices) then you can adjust the tone of the white noise (deep to high pitched). My family's favorite is calm at the deepest tone, it is so soothing and drowns out so much of unwanted noise.I would highly recommend this sound machine to everyone, you will not be disappointed!!

The actual sound that comes out of this machine is good. I like that you can adjust the tone. HOWEVER, for something that's supposed to help you relax and sleep, it sure does have a million bright blue lights. For that, I give it 2 stars. I have to throw a pillow over this machine every night, and I can still see the lights. I have gone to great lengths to keep my room dark (the neighbors have a motion detection flood light aimed at my window) and this thing ruins my dark oasis. If you are sensitive to light, particularly bright blue stadium lighting, I wouldn't buy.

At first I wasn't so sure about this product when my husband bought it for me. My previous sound machine had a variety of different settings like ocean, meditation etc so this was very new to me. I didn't realize how much I needed it until I started using it. We live in an area where there is lots of street traffic and I usually end up waking up once the cars start going outside early morning. This white noise machine perfectly masks all those outside noises and allows me to sleep longer. I take it with me travelling now too as I hate having complete quiet when I sleep. Its a very portable and sturdy machine. I love it so much and would never go back to my previous sound machine.

As a chronic insomniac, I can testify to the usefulness of this product. It is very soothing and drowns out exterior noise. Also I noticed some of the other reviews complained of the bright blue light that stayed on all night. This seems to have been fixed, as it remains on for about 3 seconds after touching the power button and then goes completely dark. Love this product. No issues at all.

Loved these immediately but within two weeks they started shutting down on their own while my kids were asleep... I would have to go in and restart the machine, it would startle and wake my baby and it keeps happening. I bought two machines and they're both doing this. I plan to return them and hope that we get replacements that actually function longer than a few weeks. The sound on these is amazing and drowns out all outside noise from the room. Perfect for sleeping babies if they would actually stay on. Also, I do understand that there is a setting that cant fade the machine to turn off after 30, 60, or 90 minutes but I made darn sure that this was not the case. My machines are malfunctioning. I will post an update if we get new machines.

I bought this machine for my practice. My office in in an older building where soundproofing is non-existent. This machine is excellent in providing the soundproofing I need. It prevents my colleagues from hearing my sessions and my clients do not get distracted by noises in the hallway. My only disappointment was that is can only be plugged in (no battery operation), which makes it a little inconvenient.

I bought this for my son because he has trouble sleeping. He's used it every night since it arrived and he loves it. He said that, normally when he wakes up in the night, he has a real problem getting back to sleep. Ever since he started using this, he still wakes up occasionally but not nearly as often and he goes right back to sleep, no problem. It doesn't drown out outside noises but it creates a white noise that seems to give his brain something to focus on which helps him go to sleep.
