Every woman needs one of these BLACK+DECKER LDX120C 20V MAX Lithium Ion Drill / Drivers and men will appreciate them, too. This is a compact, lightweight, cordless, drill that is powered by a 20V, rechargeable, battery and one is included, along with a battery charger. The batteries snap easily into the base of the drill and if you have other, Black+Decker, 20V tools, the batteries are interchangeable so it makes this drill even more attractive. This is a chuckless drill so no little chuck to keep track of. You will need drill bits as none come with it but a two headed screwdriver bit (Philips and slot head) comes with it and there is even a place to store that on the drill itself. The drill has a lock button so it's safe for use around kids and you can adjust the torque via a marked ring around the drill bit collar. I am an older woman and an avid DIYer. I am in love with cordless tools for projects and repairs around the house as well as for lawn care. I don't have a lot of upper arm strength so I appreciate that this drill is so lightweight but was concerned it wouldn't be powerful enough. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that it has plenty of power for 90% of the tasks I will use it for. Things like assembling furniture, making repairs on my home, hanging cabinets or artwork, mounting a TV on the wall, etc. And the compact size is a plus when working in small spaces. This is not a tool for professionals who would be using it every day, all day. There are much more heavy duty, cordless drills that are build for that kind of use but they cost a lot more, too. This is perfect for a homeowner, though, and I am very pleased with it. Got to use it today and it was very easy to carry up a ladder as it's small and lightweight and I love not having to deal with extension cords. This is a great gift, too. I began giving tool kits as gifts to young women and men as graduation gifts because everyone needs tools! And an inexpensive but very functional drill like this is probably going to be one of the most used tools in any tool kit. I got it on Prime Day but even the list price of ~$44 is quite reasonable since it includes a battery and a charger. Been using it all day drilling holes and screwing in screws and there's no sign of the battery not giving it enough juice to keep going at full speed. It is surprisingly small, I wasn't expecting it to be this small and light weight. I purchased this to replace my 18v Black&Decker that after 8 years the battery just won't hold a charge any longer. I was undecided whether to buy a new 18v battery for my old drill or purchase this one. I decided to go for this since Li-Ion batteries don't build a memory and I'm happy I did so far. I'm not using it for construction work, just to fix things around the house and run cable wires, Ethernet cables and the such, and the fact that this is so light really makes those tasks a breeze. It doesn't tire you out when you have to hold it in an odd position or extended your arm. The motor itself seems powerful enough to do all the tasks it needs to do without overheating when using it for an extended period of time. I'm very satisfied with my purchase now I just need to hope that this drill lasts as long as the predecessor, highly recommend. I purchased this item at full price and I can guarantee that the price I paid won’t affect the way I review my products, I do this because I base my purchase decisions on reviews and there is nothing worse than getting something other than what you expected based on the reviews you read, so I’ll always try to give the facts about the product first followed by my personal opinion. I gave this only four stars as it is key-less and I have some trouble keeping the drill bits from loosening up. If I tighten up as much as possible for me, I have the opposite problem of getting it loose again to change the bit. I have an electric Sears drill with the same issue, so most of the time I use the key-locking chuck. I don't have much strength in my wrists, so this shouldn't be a problem for most men. As has been stated in many other comments about this drill, it is not a heavy-duty workhorse and it can't replace the electric drills for extreme serious drilling, but, it is very light weight and for most projects, it is very handy. I have a Kawasaki, that I bought for a terrific price and has a lot more features, including two batteries, of which one died, and trying to replace it is not possible for some strange reason, so I choose this B & D. It is much smaller and lighter and no features, except a light which is of some use if you just barely touch the trigger. I found that it does a great job when it comes to using it for a screw-driver, especially when I am on a ladder. I miss my magnet, extra drill bits and level on the Kawasaki, but at Lowes, I found a wrist-strap that has magnets on it, which helps with keeping small drill-bits with me when I need to make pilot holes while I am up on a ladder. This drill will be great for many jobs, whether it is a small hobby project for the Moms and teens, to the Dads that doesn't want to have the hassle of electric cords, especially when he has to work in wet conditions. If I was younger or healthier, I would have looked into a drill with more features, but, I already have two electrics and the Kawasaki, so this is great for me as I don't expect to be doing too much in building or repairing any time soon. I have used it to bore holes in doors, one wooden, one metal, plus drilling in metal and with some efffort, I didn't have any problems, except for the drill-bit slipping on me, of which I stated is because I am not that strong. I did buy an extra battery and so far, even though I have used the drill quite a bit, I haven't had to change the batteries yet. I think that most people would be happy with this unit as it is small and light-weight and handy to have. I know that some carpenters keep two drills with them, one for drilling and the other for screwing, so this would be very neat for them. +JMJ+

Bought for reputation. Had for 3 years plus. I've left it outside when it snowed in Texas. Still works. Battery still has charges enough that I don't see degeneration in battery. Light trigger for light function and pressure sensitivity is good. Decent grip and won't lose it without glove. I'd buy again "if" it breaks.

Don't know why I'm reviewing this drill. I guess it's because after reading all the other reviews prior to buying, I'm somewhat conflicted since mostly, people either seem to love or hate this drill and I'd like to get my two cents worth in. After reading about a bazillion reviews (small exaggeration) I didn't know what to think and, I thought perhaps I could help my fellow Amazonians (is that a word?) make a buying decision based upon my own, hopefully informed opinion. While I am not an expert, I do build and sell hardwood furniture and am familiar with most of the tools that you would find in a working woodshop. I was surprised by all the negative reviews. It seems that a lot of folks are having problems with this drill; chuck failing or not holding bits properly, overheating and smoking, charging issues or battery not holding charge for very long, etc. One of the reasons I bought this drill was because I was somewhat titilated wondering if it was a worthwhile purchase or not. Since Amazon has return priviliges I figured I could examine the product thoroughly upon receipt and decide for myself if it was a good buy. I thought that this drill looked interesting. To me it looks kind of "cartoony" (there he goes again; making up words). With its bright colors and swirly lines it looks like something Roger Rabbit would use (or, if you're in my generation; Bullwinkle). If you'll note in the first photo below, the barrel is somewhat shorter than the average cordless drill. It is attractive; I like the look of the new flat battery packs as opposed to the older, clunky "stick-type" batteries. I noted that this drill is 20V which, you would think would make it more powerful but, in looking at the torque rating, it's not necessarily so. Now, just to make a comment on one of the most frequent complaints in other reviews. A lot of reviewers are complaining about the bit not being held tightly in the chuck. Firstly, take a look at the the second photo below. Please note that the icon of the screw is uppermost on the barrel. This is important when chucking in a bit as it ensures maximum torque and tightness. If you have "10" or any other number at the top of the barrel, you are in a "torque setting" which is used when driving screws. This means that when you achieve a certain tension, the clutch will slip and fail to tighten the chuck further. If you hear a clicking sound when tightening the chuck around a bit, then you need to adjust the ring so the screw icon is on top. Also, note in the photo, that I am wearing leather gloves. Frequently, when hand-tightening the chuck, it will escape your grip (after all, we're not as strong as gorillas) and spin, burning your hand. Because of this, most of us don't exert all the pressure we're capable of. With gloves protecting your hands, if it slips, you don't get burned and you're capable of tightening your grip and getting maximum holding power between the chuck/bit. The holding power of the chuck is dependent entirely upon the tightness of "YOUR" grip when inserting the bit and holding the chuck ring. I think that the majority of the complaints pertaining to this problem would be solved if the above two suggestions were followed. Nothing in the construction of the drill I received would lead me to believe that it is some kind of manufacturing deficiency. Upon unboxing this drill at a friends house his wife thought it looked "cute" and felt it would be a good addition to their kit (they frequently go to numerous flea markets throughout Texas and carry basic tools with them). Being smaller, it would take up less room in their trailer. You might have noted that I mentioned this is a good womans drill in my title blurb. The reason for this is the drill handle being smaller than a normal battery operated drill. It's still big enough for a man but, being smaller, it will be easier for the average female to handle than most drills. It is also lighter than the average drill which, I think most women could appreciate. I decided I would test this drill for both overall power and battery life. To do this I decided upon a series of tests of what I felt were of gradually escalating difficulty. While these tests may be pertinent to my particular situation, only you can decide if they are a "fit" to your situation and expected usage of the product. Incidentally, for my tests, even though I typically use hardwood, I felt that since White Pine is the lumber that most homeowners commonly use, it would be more appropriate for my tests and, since 3/4" stock is far and away the most common lumber that I would utilize this thickness. My results were as follows: Drill Three 1/4" holes through 3/4" stock with a brad point bit - Accomplished Drill Three 1/2" holes through 3/4" stock with a brad point bit - Accomplished Drive Three 3/8" Lag Bolts through previous 1/4" holes in 3/4" stock - Accomplished Drill Three 5/8" holes through 3/4" stock with Forstner Bit - Accomplished Drill Three 7/8" holes through 3/4" stock with Spade Bit - Accomplished At this point, I was expecting the charge to be gone from the batteries. Using a spade bit is difficult and draining on any drill. So, I decided to up the ante; I increased the size of the spade bit to 1 3/8" (a very large hole indeed) and the stock thickness to 2" stock (nomimal 1 5/8", a two by four). My intention was to continue to drill holes to the point of refusal of the battery to rotate the drill. Results as follows: Drill 1 3/8" holes through 1 5/8 " stock til failure - 3 1/2 holes Accomplished Now, to be truthful, when I stopped, the battery was still rotating the chuck and bit but, it was starting to bog down. In other words, battery failure was imminent. Could I have finished the 4th hole? Yeah, probably I could have abused the tool and forced it to finish but, it didn't have much left. Also, even though I was wearing leather gloves, I could feel a lot of heat at the barrel (after all, these tests were done with no interruptions) and it was apparent to me that to continue, I would probably smoke the motor, which made no sense to me. You can take my word for it; This drill would not have finished a 5th hole without catastrophic failure. By the way, I do not recommend using spade bits with a hand-held drill. They are particularly hard on a drill and, although I rarely use them, I only use them in my drill press. The only reason I utilized them in this testing was because I knew they would put a substantial drain on the battery. Especially using a large diameter bit like the 1 3/8" comes very close to the definition of abusing your tools so, if you can avoid it, I suggest not subjecting your drill to loads such as this.. Conclusions: I believe that this is drill that is well suited to the home handyman. Would it be a good drill for a professional that needed it for use daily? Probably not, although it might last a while. I also think a pro would want a drill with a little more torque and definitely more drilling speed. However, even though the listed torque is low, while I was drilling the largest holes with the spade bit, when it caught in the hole it had enough torque to spin my wrist around (and I'm 6'4" and 210 lbs) so, it should be adequate for most of us. I also think that because of it's reduced weight it would be an ideal drill for a woman and I think the manufacturers did a good job of "splitting the difference" in designing a grip that is both large enough for a big man (though just barely) and small enough to be comfortable for the average woman. Caveat: As I told you earlier, one of the reasons I got this drill was because of all the contradictory reviews (it piqued my curiousity). I think almost 20% of the reviews have some complaint about this product. If you do decide to purchase, make sure that you do test and inspect your drill closely to make sure that none of the issues mentioned in other reviews are present in your purchase. Based upon the product I received, it is apparent to me that Black & Decker is capable of making a quality product however, DO inspect yours prior to the expiration of the return window. With this caveat, I can recommend this cordless drill. I hope that this review, since it addresses issues outside of others comments, was of some help to you.

Si bien es cierto que es un poco más pequeño que los taladros debemos considerar que su principal función es la de un destornillador y taladro para trabajos en plástico, madera y láminas delgadas. Yo lo compré principalmente para el ensamble de muebles y trabajos en el hogar, resultó muy conveniente por su tamaño y poco peso. Si sus necesidades son de uso rudo o trabajos en concreto o en acero de mayor calibre definitivamente esta no es la opción. Tendrán que pensar en un rotomartillo o taladro de mayor potencia. La batería puede durar hasta 6 horas en trabajo moderado y se carga en tres horas. Muy recomendable.

Malheureusement , je n'ai jamais recu cette perceuse! Tres decue! J'en avais deja achete une lorsque j'habitais a l'etranger. Je suis rentree vivre en France il y a qqles mois, donc je l'ai laisse la-bas a un de mes enfants. J'en ete tellement contente, car facile d'utilisation, assez legere , tres bonne qualite, pratique et durable, qu'en decouvrant la meme a un prix si bas, j'en ai recommande 2. Mais malheureusement, je ne les ai jamais recues! Donc remboursement! Quel dommage!

We wanted a new drill since the aging lead-acid batteries on our 10 years old drill were starting to lose their charge and power, and replacements for those old batteries were as expensive as a brand new drill with a lithium-ion battery. So we purchased only the drill (with the charger, one battery and the double-ended bit) as we already had a full, still-usable, drill bits kit with our previous model. When we received it, we realized how much smaller and lighter this new model was compared to our old drill! Wow what a difference!!! It will be much easier to manipulate due to its lighter weight and we will be able to work in darker and much tighter spaces thanks to its integrated light and smaller bulk! We haven't actually tried it yet, but just by pressing the trigger, we can see it has much more power than our old one! We will love it, I'm sure!

Good but my expectations. Only one battery. No suitcase.

I didn't want a big heavy drill (for large construction work) - so this one was perfect for me and yet is still great for doing small house Reno activities. I wore my first drill like this out after 10 years so this is my 2nd one!
