Best Nail File I've Ever Used
I'm a nail biter, have been for decades. One graze of my thumb past a rough edge or corner, and out come the clippers and teeth. Emory boards have somewhat helped but get used up way too fast, scrape up my skin, and leave the nails rough enough to snag. This glass file is sublime. There's no grating feeling, and no rough edges left; where it brushes my skin by the corners it doesn't hurt at all. I'm not buffing the back of my nails, they're soft and shreddy anyway and don't need to be worn down further, but the ends and corners come out so smooth that the urge to gnaw is almost completely gone. They even gleam and sparkle! Follow up with a nail/cuticle cream and my fingertips feel better than they have in years. The quality is amazing. This file has enough heft and thickness to feel sturdy and luxurious (though I'm very careful not to drop it). The soft plastic case for it keeps it comfortably safe. The only down side is that after each session one needs to rinse off the file and then let it air dry before returning it to the case, so I can't keep it by my computer. Probably a good thing, it creates quite the skiff of dust from ground up nail, likely unhealthy for a keyboard. I did not hesitate to recommend this to my brother for his wife when asked, I do not hesitate to recommend it to you. Best. File. Ever.

Thoroughly impressed!
I have to admit that I was skeptical when I saw these, I was also intrigued. So I decided I had to try them. In the past Iโve used buffing blocks that can be picked up at any beauty supply and thought a glass equivalent was a long shot but possible. I also have a powered buffing device made by Emjoi. I absolutely adore these! Using buffing blocks or my Emjoi took about 15-20 minutes. These little glass files took some time but was no more effort than even my powered Emjoi, matter of fact I do believe it shaved some time off. Besides if I use a buffing block or my Emjoi I have to replace the buffing heads or buy more buffing blocks as both wear out, not these files! All you have to do to achieve a high shine is apply the glass file to the surface of your nail and move it horizontally back and forth until youโve covered the surface. The file micro sands the nail, polishing at the same time. It achieves this by using the two different textures on the textured side of the file. Yes, the texture is on only one side of these files. Iโm so new to these Iโm not sure if they can be found in a double sided option. These two files both come with theyโre own transparent plastic case making them easy to carry in a handbag if so desired. The files come with one lighter and one black file, both files are the same texture and have the same effect. Basically, even though they are different colors they are identical. My nails are highly textured, I have many ridges and these made quick work of polishing them. I imagine if you have a smooth textured nail bed it would go even quicker for you. I wouldnโt say buffing damages the nailbed but be aware you are removing a fine layer, so even though itโs not on the broken English instructions I wouldnโt buff the entire nail dally. Maybe just cover outgrowth down by the cuticle once a week and maybe a quick touch up. Youโll have to decide whatโs best for you and your nails but do understand the shine achieved from buffing lasts. There is nothing to wear off or chip, sometimes the surface of the nail looses some luster from everyday fine scratches and what not. Anyway these work and work well! So if you like or have buffed your nails in the past and want a easy effective method that will last much longer than other methods Iโd highly recommended these! These arenโt going to wear out like buffing blocks. These files will last forever so they are highly economical! Iโm impressed!

Lasting glass like shine
Using a glass file seals the edges of your nails so moisture does not damage nails causing splits and weakness. When I dropped my old file I started searching for a replacement. This set was impressive to use, and files nails very quickly. The sanding file works so much faster than sanding blocks and a nail buffer, which does not give a lasting shine. The nail shiner gave me a quick, glass like shine that has lasted for weeks. I decided to try it on my toes to give them a break from polish. The results looks like a clear polish and has lasted for weeks also. The pointed file removed stains under my nails from cooking and yard work. Ordering a kit to put up in my reserve box just incase I drop one of these babies!

Use: Nail file vs shine buffer
As a nail file, this is top notch! I like it as much, possibly more, than my crystal nail files. It smooths & shapes really quickly. As a shine buffer... well, it doesn't shine. It can produce that super shine, but in patchy spots. The flat, hard file makes it impossible to get a smooth shine over the entire nail bed, and sometimes leaves scratches behind. It might be good for reducing ridges, but I'll use my typical foam buffers instead of this. The price is great, and you get two sealed nail files.

Best nailfile ever... A review by a guy.
I will admit that I bought this because I like gadgets, and had always wondered if the glass files were any good. Well, I was amazed at how good these are. They seem to go against everything I know about grinding and abrasives, in that they are both fast cutting and very smooth at the same time. The effective grit seems to be somewhere around 2000 to 3000, but the seem to cut faster than 400 to 600 grit. Not understanding this at all, I got out a microscope and was surprised to find that it does not seem to have any abrasive particles at all, but has circular holes(presumably etched) in the glass. This means that these work more like woodworking scrapers rather than sandpaper. This is also born out by the fact that you do not get nail dust after you use these, but instead get a weird wispy residue that wipes away cleanly. My nails are very coarse and scag on things all the time and this smooths them out easily. The black on has never been used, and the white one has been used almost daily for months and has shown little to no wear. After getting these, I tried another brand at the drugstore and it was more like sandpaper and did not polish at all. I used it to cut down a large snag on my nail and it actually rubbed the abrasive off of the glass. With these, there is no abrasive to rub off as the just slice off micro shavings off of your nail leaving a bright polished surface. I highly recommend this product to everyone that needs a nail file.

Great for both strong and fragile nails. Use a careful hand, though!
This glass file is wee but fierce! Extremely fine and very... sharp? My nails are paper thin, flexible, and prone to peeling. My husband's nails are thick, strong, and deeply ridged. This file shapes edges quickly and easily and gave us both a mirror shine. In this photo, I buffed only the middle and pinky finger for comparison. Buffing the nail surface leaves an eerily perfect, shiny, burnished and sealed surface. I've buffed my nails with silk and compound before, and this is almost as good, and maybe better for nails prone to peeling. It can be a little tricky buff strong nails with deep ridges or a steeply curved nail bed, however. My best advice for buffing: use a light touch, gentle swirling strokes, and try to keep the file's edge away from the nail. It's so sharp that heavy pressure or the file's edge can leave deep grooves. If you see grooves, you can buff them out gently with short, curved strokes at an angle to the groove. Take your time, use good light, and work carefully. You can periodically tap the file against your palm or pant leg to remove nail dust.

Do not use to smooth nails
The fireworks fine but if you try to smooth your nails with it, the product doesnโt work great. It tends to takeoff too much of the nail. Iโve tried to use it very softly and it never

Great Glass Nail File for Shiny Nails
This is an amazing nail file! I was shocked at the shine that my nails had after using. Oftentimes, would try to achieve a shiny, natural look for my nails by applying a clear coat of nail polish, however this nail file gives the exact same effect. Usability: The shininess does wear off after a week or more, however with a little bit of buffing it returns to the original shine. Product Quality: The glass nail files come in a plastic protective case. The file itself is made of glass and has the logo imprinted on the end. It feels durable (for glass) and will most likely last longer than regular foam nail files. Overall a great purchase! I would purchase it again.

Lasting shine! And, easy to keep clean
I've had a few nail buffers, and I'm a bit of a nail file snob. I love my diamancel #1 for keeping my nail edges smooth and snag free. This does a reasonable job at the same task: but I prefer the thinness of the diamancel for regular use. I have a few nice foam buffers as well (onsen with replaceable surfaces). These buff to a better shine. Of course, that shine comes at a cost of nail surface: beware of over buffing. The foam buffers have the advantage to easily curve around nails, whereas with this buffer you have to carefully stroke around the contours of your nail to avoid ending up with ridges. That said, I like to bring this when I travel. It files and it buffs. It's not susceptible to bending unlike the diamancel. It's smaller than the foam buffer. It has a plastic travel case so it's protected. It's not sharp so no over-zealous TSA agent will confiscate it.

Excellent Product
Iโm learning how to do my nails and hated filing them Because of the grit no matter what number I used. I got a glass file with a drill I purchased and loved it. I read about how the glass cuticle cleaner works then purchased it. And I love it too. Especially to clean up when I make a mistake with the polish. It cleans it right up so now I donโt worry if I mess up or not. In fact Iโm placing an order for 2 more sets: 1) for my neighbour and the other to keep at work and travel.

YES - BEARING A FEW POINTS IN MIND
From a former beautician: the shinie function gives a virtually instant high shine which lasted about 5 days; after that I suppose the nails pick up micro-scratches which dull the shine. I wouldn't like to say how often it can be used before the nail becomes thinner and therefore weaker (it does quite obviously grind a fine layer of nail away each time), but it's fine for occasional use. I need nails which cope with mainly practical tasks - housework, gardening and crafts - rather than super-neat ones, so this suits my needs. The file being of hard material, only shines the high points across the very top of the nail surface, whereas a cushioned one will cover the whole area, high and low points. Actually, it wasn't obviously patchy unless you looked right up close - the nails catch the light and that is enough to create the impression of a totally shiny nail surface. Only one side of the file has the necessary etched surface to create the shine, the other side is completely bare (it'd be useful to have both sides etched so that you don't need to look for the side needed - but I imagine that would put the cost up). The filing function, using this same surface, is excellent. A useful item that I wouldn't want to be without, now, but just with a few points to bear in mind.
