Head for the Islanders!
Made under Kaniléa quality control their "step down" line is just about as good as their made in Hawaii Ukes. I have several Islanders, and for the money they are hard to beat. Not only outstanding quality in build and sound, all Islanders have a slightly wider nut (1-1/2") which is very helpful for newbies, large hands, and those with a little arthritis in order to chord properly/easier. This particular soprano is solid mahogany as opposed to a laminate, has the wider nut, and a nice binding and sound hole rosette. I usually play tenors, and wouldn't buy a soprano that didn't have that wider neck--very few manufacturers offer that in a soprano.

The quality is very good and the sound is mellow, not like the cheaper ukuleles.

The soprano is just as perfect as the concert.
I also have the Islander concert size. The soprano arrived just as perfect. These ukes are a great value. Concert has a fuller sound, but I love playing both!
