will this work with 55 gallon poly drums with a lip?

Designed and used with steel drums, but poly barrels are pretty tough and usually have a larger lip. I think it would work fine.

Will it work on 55 gal plastic drums

Yes. I have used it several times to lift plastic drums.

will this safely lift 30 gallon drums?

Yes. I use this drum clamp to unload a 30 gal. plastic drum of diesel fuel from my pickup. Works great, however I suggest a second person to hold clamp in place during the pick sequence.

will this work with a 16 gallon open-top barrel?

It should fit the 16 gallon drum just fine. HOWEVER, keep in mind the weight of a full drum and lifting from 2 opposite points, it would be weaker than a drum with a lid in place to keep the structure stronger.

simple design, works as designed. I place a wood block on top of barrel to hold device in place till I lift with my tractor. this allows me to move barrels of diesel without assistance safely.

This has been the perfect tool for lifting all our barrels. It works on 55 gallon and 1/4 drums. It is secure and the construction is great. I would recommend it to anyone and will purchase another when we expand.

Unsafe! Poor design no returns!

They will not allow me to return this item unless it has a manufacturer defect. The clamp is poorly designed and only grips the edge of the barrel and has no locking mechanism. I have sevral feed barrels drop out of this clamp and had to discontinue its use before someone got hurt. There are other designs available on Amazon that use a chain to attach a set of locking jaws to your lifting apparatuses that are much safer because of the locking clamps that grab your barrels and the chain lifts at a better angle
