Mountain Duffel

Great snowboarding bag!!! Great quailty and sturdy build. Holds alot of gear, actually all my gear.

So I've been in the market for a medium sized duffle for car camping for some time. I've been using the round single zipper type duffle bag from REI for the past year. While that bag is very rugged the organization inside the bag is very poor. The zipper doesn't open fully to see the content inside and it's difficult to separate gear. I went into REI to check out some bags they have there. My favorite was the REI 65L Tech Beast duffle (it's the closest in size to this medium duffle). While it was really awesome at $90 it was a little expensive for a duffle that would be used for car camping and weekend trips. Not to mention, the 65L didn't have a separate compartment for shoes. I would have to get the 100L bag for that, which was more expensive and way to big for my needs. I picked this up on sale and was expecting it to be cheap and flimsy. I was defiantly surprised when opened it up and saw that the bag is made out of a thicker canvas type material. There is a lot of double stitching, including the strap area. The organization of the bag is pretty good, and it has a cavernous opening to be able to see all the contents of the main compartment which helps me to keep my gear organized and not mess stuff up when I grab a change of clothes out of it. Granted this bag is not the same quality, and lacks a few features of say the REI tech duffle, but for the price I'll try this guy out for the year and buy a nicer bag when I get some extra cash. I'd say this size would be best for trips under a week long. 4-5 days is my typical camping trip length and I've been able to fit all my clothes, extra jacket, toiletries, camping towel, and a pair of hiking boots in this without issue.

I bought this Mountain Duffel in the X-Large size with the sole purpose of getting as much on the plane (traveling to the UK) as checked in baggage as possible without having to pay for an over sized bag. The x-large duffel is a PERFECT size as long as I do not use the two end pockets it fits the new dimensions requirements EXACTLY and it can fit a huge amount of stuff (getting 50 pounds of clothes etc in it was no problem at all). After reading other reviews I made sure the items on the outer portion of the duffel were not easily damaged. The duffel did suffer damage on the bottom on one side where the end pocket joins the main part of the bag (ended up with a drag holes along the seam- looked like it had been dragged for a mile by the airline employees) but as I had nothing in the end pocket nothing was damaged at all. Even with this small amount of damage I highly recommend this duffel if you need to travel overseas and need to bring a lot of stuff with you- I found nothing else even remotely close in price range with these perfect dimensions and afterwards it folds up nicely for storage with its own storage bag. The straps were very helpful for transport as well. (I had to manage 2 toddlers, 1 stroller, 1 young child and 5 50 pound bags from the London baggage department to the exit myself and the straps were very helpful). I am actually going to buy more of for my upcoming trip.

Lots to like about this bag. I have it in several sizes, the Large is closer to the size of a big gym bag, the X-Large is as big as many hockey bags. It has side pockets for shoes or boots or things you want to separate from the main compartment. It has a small outside pocket that can hold maps or paperwork and when unzipped on the XL it fits a coaching clipboard rather well. It has a collapsible carrying bag that can be used on its own. It has carrying straps that go completely around to the other side, good zippers and quality stitching. It is fairly durable and holds up to normal wear and tear. The only downside is that it is not indestructible. Airlines and sharp skates are able to cut the nylon fabric. I have been really satisfied with the performance for what it is. That having been said, I am still looking for the holy grail of bags to protect my pack from the airlines when traveling. I thought I had it in the XL. After seeing the abuse that this bag has taken at their hands, I can only imagine how many straps and buckles I would have to replace if I had not had it as a first layer of protection for my pack. If I have to buy one of these every couple of years to protect my pack, I would still consider it a good investment. In the meantime, let me know if you find something a bit sturdier.

OMG! My fiancee was so excited getting this bag because he travels to pickup abandoned semi trucks all over the USA and he able to pack his clothes, pillow, sleeping bag, and toiletries in this bag. I still recommend this bag, just remember the airport will charge extra on this bag .... we both love this bag.

Great large duffel. Appears durable and hopefully will last as long as it looks like it should. Zippers work well.

Second update: Company sent me a replacement free of charge and it is defect free. Very good customer service. ---------- Edit: changing review. Barely used this bag and just noticed the material separating main compartment from side has almost completely separated. Interior seems very cheaply made. ——— I really like this bag and it's a great deal for the price. I umpire and use this bag to carry around my equipment. Zippers are good and I like the three extra pockets (two on sides and one in front). I got the large size, which was actually bigger than I need/thought it would be, but that's on me for not paying attention to the measurements. Haven’t used much but seems fine and no complaints so far.

Excelente tamaño

Los materiales son de excelente calidad, la uso cada que viajo a ver a mi familia, y para cualquier viaje corto le he cargado una cantidad mas que considerable de peso y ha resistido sin ningun problema, la recomiendo para uso rudo, aun cargando mucho resiste, no es muy comoda de cargar con peso, pero si facil de transportar. Sin duda la volveria a comprar 100% recomendable

Es de un material mas delgado de lo que parece, y las bolsas laterales son pequeñas, solo cabe un par de zapatos, aunque es una maleta grande
