Great charging cables
These work great, and the speed is decent. If you have lightning, USB-C and Micro USB devices floating around and needing to be charged, then these are perfect for removing the need to have multiple cable types piled up. The big caveats with these is that they can’t charge as fast as a purely cabled setup and since they’re USB-A they get deprioritized in load balancing with most charging bricks. The speed isn’t a big issue, but the load balancing is a show stopper because this cable basically doesn’t work with less than ten watts of input. At or above ten watts this charges more than fast enough 99% of the time, but at 5w your device will take hours longer to charge. Using a single USB-A port fast charger or a charging brick that doesn’t rely on load balancing solves this issue and makes these an incredible good option.

Good connection
The charging cables come in three lengths. So far, I have only used the medium length. There are nine magnetic connectors. 3 micro USB, 3 USB C, and 3 Lightning. So far, I have only used the micro USB connectors. I have some Lightning and USB C connected devices. Because it doesn't matter what side you use, they are infinitely easier to use than micro USB connectors. Micro USB has to have the correct orientation; they are a "fitted" connector. Many newer rechargeable devices use USB C connectors simply because they are so much easier. I personally have lots of older, perfectly functional devices that use a micro USB connector. Headphones, bluetooth keyboards, etc. However, my eyesight and manual dexterity have deteriorated dramatically with age. Depending on the device and its charging socket configuration, it can be pretty frustrating (not to mention time-consuming) to use micro USB connectors to charge them up. One such device is my beloved Logitech K811 bluetooth keyboard that I use with my Mac Mini. I had such a bad time charging this keyboard that I loosened the embedded micro USB socket. Thereafter, whenever I fumbled plugging the cable so it would charge overnight, I was never sure whether it would do its thing. Several times I lost my keyboard during the day because the charging connection was poor the night before. I thought I might have to discard the keyboard. These cables and their magnetic connectors cleared up that issue right away. Now, my K811 has incredibly reliable charging. Given the fine results I got with my keyboard, I used up the final micro USB connectors on my old bluetooth earbuds— the old kind with wires connecting them. I use these earbuds to listen to the television so I don't disturb the neighbors (did I mention I was deaf, too?) So, my only issue with these cables and their magnetic plugs is that they did not include sufficient micro USB connectors. I would gladly trade in the USB C and Lightning connectors for more micro USBs.

Close To Being Great
Man, I really wanted to LOVE these cables. I read the negative reviews but decided to give them a shot anyway. I would like to give them 3.5 stars, but that's not an option. Following is my experience with the cables after one week. Good: * Fast-charging is recognized and works. * Data transfer works, although I do not have any speed comparisons to share. * The metal inserts that go in the phone fit well and stay in. They also don't interfere with my Otterbox case, although I should mention that I had previously cut off the rubber flap that goes over the case's charging cutout. * My Ford truck recognized the connection immediately and wanted permissions, etc. I don't use that, but some of the negative comments said that didn't work, but it definitely wanted to work on mine. * Both my Playstation and Xbox had no trouble recognizing/working with the cords. * It's great that it comes with multiple inserts for each of the three major charging port types. Bad: * The magnets are not quite strong enough. Although the strength is decent, I would regularly get disconnected while playing games on Xbox (yes, there is a lot of excitement to the action games, and you can't help moving some!). I saw one review that said the cords would fall out from a phone in a vehicle just from bumps in the road. My set is not that bad. For regular charging purposes, the magnets are strong enough. But not for gaming or when there will be movement involved with the phone or device. For example, you wouldn't want to try to talk on the phone and expect the cord to stay connected. Also note I purchased another brand here on Amazon, and the magnets for that set were weaker than these. * If you're like me (and I bet most of you are), you don't just have one cable for charging your phone. Although this came as a set of three, you must use these cables unless you want to remove the insert part, which defeats the purpose. I knew that going in, but as charging my phone wasn't the main reason I was getting these, that aspect didn't bother me. I am now using them to charge my phone, however, since the actual reason I got them isn't working out so well. How many of these cords you would have to have around to feel comfortable is a personal preference, so I'll leave it up to you whether that is an issue. Overall assessment is this product will be great for some users, but it is not perfect for all situations. Is that worth knocking off two stars? For me it is, since the primary reason I got these was to be able to charge the gaming controllers while playing. **Update** I'm adding another star to this product. I purchased a much more expensive name-brand version of these, and the magnets are no stronger. And as far as just using these for charging and not gaming, they're really nice.

Data sync doesn't work.
The product is overall good however the downside is the data sync which is where I see the big problem and is the major reason why I bought this product. I tried using my it on my keyboard and at first it worked but then I unplugged it and then plugged it back in again which is where it stopped working. I also tried to plug it into my car for apple play which it didn't work a single bit ,I will not be returning however just keep in mind the data sync doesn't work so just use a regular type c cord for that.

Great cables, work for all uses I need them to.
So far these cables are great. Galaxy s10 fast charging works great. Data transfer works as advertised. The cable also works great in my 2019 Ram, connects to the uconnect system and android auto works well which can sometime be temperamental with different cables with uconnect. The small blue led light on the cable end isn't overly bright like others I have tried that are too bright for night use next to my bed. Can't speak to durability as I have only been using them a week. UPDATE: After 2 months the cables still work great. The magnetic connection is holding up well and the adapter pieces that plug into the phone itself have had no issues, they fit nice and tight and work well with my incipio dual shock case. I have traveled with them and used them with a 2020 Tacoma rental and Android auto worked flawlessly. I have seen comments by others claiming fast charging doesn't work, but I do not find that to be the case. Fast charging works perfect on my S9, S10 and my girlfriends S10 plus.

The Rotating Head Cables Don't Last
Last fall, I ordered five sets of these cables for a total of 20 cables. I've had one plug go bad where the plug basically disintegrated. If I recall, I was trying to pull the plug out of my phone, and it fell apart. I've had one cable where the magnet pulled out. The small circular magnet appears to be glued inside the end of a rotating head, and this came unattached. It would complete the electrical circuit and charge the device if the cable was pressed against the magnetic plug, but once I let go, it would not charge. I decided to use super glue to glue the magnet back in to the end of the cable, but the glue ended up short circuiting the circuit inside as it flowed into the head. Even worse is the fact that most of the cables with the rotating neck are going bad. There must be a very narrow electrical circuit inside the hinge that is allowed to move and rotate but maintain electrical contact at all times when writing properly. I think this is wearing out and losing contact. The cable itself has power (indicated by the blue indicator light), but as I move the rotating head around at the hinge, charging becomes very intermittent and cuts out completely or delivers about 60mA of current. I think it's just a bad design. A phone charging cable shouldn't be so delicate. The rotating head that allows for different angles is really nice, but as it is, it doesn't last very long, and it's very frustrating having spent $100 on 20 cables, where half of them have gone bad within six months. ****UPDATE 2023/07/30**** I recently purchased the third generation cables. To avoid confusion, I will not be adding photos of the third generation to this addendum to the second generation charging cable. Please find my reviews on the third generation cable product pages. This is a review of three magnetic charging cables by A.S.. Hopefully, it'll give you an idea of whether you need the third generation or if the second generation would be adequate. Prices are current as of 2023/07/30. 1. ASIN: B07QWC4FZD. Second generation. USB-A plug. One cable each of 3.3ft and 6.6ft of straight connector and hinged connector. 12W output for Micro-USB, and 18W for USB-C. $17.99 (originally $19.99, with a $2 off coupon). 2. ASIN: B07V37NW6X. Third generation. USB-C plug. A 6.6ft cable with a straight connector, a 3.3ft fixed 90 degree connector, and a 6.6ft fixed 90 degree connector. Includes a USB-A to USB-C adapter. 60W output for USB-C. $25.99. 3. ASIN: B0C6G9745J. Third generation. USB-A plug. One cable each of 3.3ft and 6.6ft of straight connector and hinged connector. "18W(9V 2A)" and 2.4A (I'm guessing for 5V). $19.99 (originally $23.99, with a $4 off coupon). I started my magnetic charging journey six years ago. Not wanting to replace bazillion cables, I got a handful of Kript's magnetic charging adapter that connects to the end of an ordinary Micro-USB cable (ASIN: B06X95HCDS). I had their Gen 1, 3, and 5. Come to think of it, where was Gen 2, and 4? When many of them started to break, I replaced them with five sets (20 cables total) of the A.S. second generation cables to charge a variety of devices with mostly Micro -USB and USB-C, and a few with lightning. The A.S. second generation cables were OK except that the hinged mechanism is the biggest weakness. I'm guessing that with wear and tear, the sandwiched hinge gap becomes wider and the contacts separate and lose connection. The cables quit charging unless the tip was tilted to be forced to make contact. I tried squeezing the gaps closer with pliers, but that didn't help. Nearly all of the hinged ones have failed, which is a loss of about $50 for 10 cables. Another issue with the second generation (on one hinged cable) was that the magnet pulled out of the end of the cable, and it became unusable. It simply didn't charge without me pushing the cable into the device. I think my attempt to repair with superglue resulted in the glue seeping into the contacts and shorting it out. It went into the trash. Then came the third generation A.S. cables and plugs. It's been about a week of using the third generation cables. These definitely charge my phone with USB-C about 1.5 to 2 times higher mA per the Ampere app. As you've probably read, the third generation cable has 9 conductors and the plugs have 5 conductors in a circular fashion (versus the 5 conductor cable and 3 conductor plugs in the second generation). It would probably make more sense when you look at the photos of the plug and the cable, but in round magnetic charging cables and plugs (probably of any brand), the outside conductors of the cable make contact with the outermost conductor ring of the plug, then the next conductor pair of the cable contacts with the next inner ring, and so on, until the center conductor of the cable contacts with the center conductor of the plug. The third generation cables are not backward compatible with the second generation plugs. I wish that they were. An important thing to think about is this. There are a few situations where charging cables capable of PD and fast charging is useless. For one, Micro-USB charging speed tops out at 15W, so any device with Micro-USB can't do PD or fast charging. Then, if you're charging your device overnight, whatever it might be, you obviously don't need fast charging. If you can alter your habits and keep your device charged, you really don't have the need for fast charging. Finally, smaller devices like earbuds, headphones, bicycle lights are not usually capable of receiving PD or fast charging either. For me, most of my devices can't take full advantage of the third generation cables and plugs. For my phone, I'm usually OK with slow charging it. So I think I will continue to use what's left of the second generation cables and plugs. I will say that the A.S. plugs seem to be sturdy and have not broken apart unlike the Kript plugs which sometimes literally disintegrated, requiring pliers to pull out the bits stuck in the device. So, that's a plus. However, I did see that A.S. sells just the plugs, and some reviewers comment that their plugs broke within three months of frequent use, which is concerning. If one were to remove and reinsert the plugs, these will not last, so I wonder if that's what that reviewer did. I guess we will find out. A couple of other things. One of the USB-C plugs of the third generation charging cord is somewhat loose and can tilt side to side. (See photo with the cabinet door in the background.) Also, the hinged mechanism is different in the third generation, and it looks reinforced. ****UPDATE 2023/08/20**** I added a photo showing ferrous material that the magnet picked up when it grazed the footwell of a car. This is a problem that happens to any brand of magnetic charging cords, and care must be taken so the magnet doesn't touch the ground. The finest grains of ferrous sand would stop the charging. Now, the issue that is unique with the third generation cables is that they built a lip around the magnet (as you can see in the photo), which makes it very difficult to remove ferrous debris that is stuck on the magnet. In the second generation cables, the magnet is exposed without a lip, so all you have to do is wipe it with your finger to detach debris. This lip on the third generation cable is completely unnecessary for charging because the magnets are strong enough and the recessed area where the pins are make it so the cable doesn't slip off of the plug when attempting to attach or while charging.

Good for charging, terrible at data transfer! Updated!
I bought these cables specifically because they offer data transfer and I wanted to use them with Android Auto in my vehicle. They connect to Android Auto intermittently most times. There have been a few times where they connected and stayed connected for my whole trip. When I start my drive, for the most part I have to connect and then reconnect to get it to sync with Android Auto. If this happens, the trip will be plagued with constant disconnection and reconnection. The times that I do connect, if I hit a bump the cord will disconnect. If you are buying them for data transfer, I would recommend you look for something else. As far as charging goes, they are great. I have them connected to all my devices that only need charging. I feel like the charging is a little slower than with standard cables but the convenience of the magnet connection is worth it. The blue light is a good feature when trying to find the end of the cable when it fell behind something. It does stay on all the time, so if you are sensitive to light at night and you use them in your bedroom, beware. If these were described as a charging cable I would give them a higher rating. Because they are advertised as being for data transfer I cannot. 05/09/22 Update: The Seller did reach out to me in response to my review. They apologized and asked what they could do to make it right. After a couple of emails they offered a partial refund (around 20%). I am good with this. Although the product did not preform to my recommendations, I can still use it for charging. I am giving this an extra star because of the Sellers responsiveness.

These cables work great, no problems with this niche product
You know if you need these types of cables/adapters. If you don't, they're a bit of a waste. They do what they claim, and I was very happy with them once I figured out how to detach the cables. If you pull them straight out, there's a good chance of taking the little adapter with them--the magnets are really strong. The trick was to "break" the magnetic connection by bending the connector end away from the device each time I wanted to disconnect the cables. That allowed me to cleanly pull the cables away and not take the little adapter with them. The blue LED on the ends is super bright, so in a bedroom, you might have to cover them at night. These cables charge my 10" tablet well when I'm connecting to a high-amperage adapter. I'm also using these with a couple of Logitech MX master mice. The data connections work flawlessly with my mice and my tablet. They're a bit pricey, but they feel like very high-quality cables, so I think they're a decent buy overall.

Does what it does, 2nd purchase [Update: 2022.06.07]
About 3 month ago I purchased the older version where cable did not have 180 degree movement. Originally I purchased it after getting frustrated with USB-C cables for my use in car for Android Auto. Due to weather/environment, the cable would stop working properly over time (shortest was 3 days and longest was 2 weeks) and stop all together. It will charge my phone but data would stop so Android Auto will not work. With the magnetic USB cables, I am still using the original cables and it is working perfectly fine. PLUS, my wife uses all Apple products while I am a Samsung dude, using this product line have made all the charging cables and the entanglement disappear! one cables each to our PC and cars and we are good to go. Now I have purchased these for more charging points and will be putting away all other charging cables! Now... for the negative side: Product is relatively on the cheaper side compare to other products in the market (IMO), the material used on the connection points do feel slightly fragile. they are perfectly fine for now but I do worry over time issues. I heard so much folks on review saying they had successful after service from manufacturer but when I had 1 defective 'other (apple)' plug and cable, I contacted and have took video/pictures to give. They said they will send me once they review my attachments but never got back. Product is OK otherwise so I am buying 2nd time again but personally... I have deducted score for lack of support I experienced. [UPDATE] So basically I left memo saying that while the product works but support from seller is lacking for my 2 star deduction on original review. The seller have contacted me and have gone over the previous support conversation and have indeed honored their support and provided me with all the replacement (and a little more!). Now that I have received... how can I not update the review and give it its 5 star review? As for those who are still debating. Please note: my 5 star review is based on the price, quality, functionality. I am sure there are higher quality products and you need to pay the fair price for them. For its price, this product does deliver what it says on the description. And when there are defects, notify it to the seller and they will replace them for you.
