This supplement is advertised for helping with joint pain, but I actually use it to help grow out my hair. Little background story - after going through a horrendous hair loss journey (due to telogen effluvium from stress), I ended up losing about 70% of my hair. I was desperate to grow it back, and after doing research, I ended up discovering MSM supplements. The sulfer in this supplement helps with hair growth, which is an essential element to hair and is not naturally produced in our bodies. (I’m no doctor so research upon your own too). I also read that you should microdose when starting cause it could cause negative symptoms, which is what I did just to be safe. After a couple months of taking this supplement, I finally noticed some hair growth. Was it a coincidence? I don’t know but I feel like this supplement is what helped me with growing back my hair! Besides my hair, I’ve noticed my nails are also much stronger! That wasn’t something I was looking to improve but a great benefit I got from it :) My nails don’t break as easily when they grow out. Because of these benefits and function, I’ve been taking this supplement for years now and I even recommend it to friends and family. They say they’ve noticed positive changes after a couple months of taking it. As for size, it’s a large pill so it’s not really easy to take. The dosage is 2, which I used to take but I now take 1 a day. There is a slight bitter taste but it’s not too bad as long as you’re not letting it sit in your mouth. I started taking Doctor’s Best MSM 1500mg mainly to help with plantar fasciitis, and the results were surprisingly fast. I combined it with vitamin C, and by the next morning, the usual heel pain I feel when getting out of bed was completely gone. After taking it for three consecutive days, I noticed something unexpected—my face looked noticeably firmer, with better contour and less sagging. It honestly felt like a subtle “lift” effect, which I wasn’t expecting at all from an MSM supplement. I don’t take it every day. I typically use it about three days a week and then take four days off, mainly to help prevent my plantar fasciitis from coming back. Overall, this has been a very effective supplement for both joint support and what seems like improved skin firmness. Definitely impressed with the results.

I been waiting to review this . The pills are large so be careful . I take two a day and no side effects . So far I feel great taking them , I started them in sept to help with my hair growth . My pixie has grown out soooooo much . I don’t get no aftertaste with them . The quality of the pills are fine . I do take these with my multi vitamin gummy and have no issues with mixing them . I will continue to use them for the next year on my hair journey .

MSM stands for Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane, which occurs naturally in humans, some plants, and some animals. The sulfonyl group is a sulfur containing compound, and the "experts" – sports trainers, homeopaths, integrative medicine doctors, etc., and no, this does NOT include that guy in the white coat that you occasionally see with an MD after his name – all agree that the body needs sulfur for joint re-modeling. In my case, the meniscus in my right knee bothers me unless I take MSM regularly. So, either it works for me, or I am experiencing the placebo effect. When my meniscus started to bother me in my late 50's, doctors recommended glucosamine chondroitin, but before I went down that path, I decided to do some research. By the way, doctors will object to everything one says based on the research until you point out that it is peer-reviewed research that you found on PubMed, then they will tuck their tails between their legs, and shut up. The research showed me that glucosamine did prove to be helpful in the early studies that were done with glucosamine SULFATE – um, that would contain sulfur! Later studies done with glucosamine HCl (hydrochloride) did NOT show the same effectiveness. Unfortunately, most of the glucosamine sold today is the HCl formulation, probably because it is cheaper to make. So if you want to pursue glucosamine, make sure that it is the sulfate formulation. Regarding chondroitin, it costs 10 times more to make that glucosamine, and has never been shown to be effective. Consequently, when one purchases glucosamine chondroitin, one is largely paying for a substance that is ineffective. Full disclaimer – I did this research probably a decade ago, so more recent research may be shedding a different light. Check for yourself at PubMed, which is administered by the National Institutes of Health. In short, I recommend this product not only because it works for me, but also because the 1,500mg dosage is one of the highest dosages one can obtain in one tablet. Also, Doctor’s Best is a reputable brand.

This is my first time trying MSM. I’m unsure if it’s this brand or MSM in general, but it’s been causing headaches, irritability, and body soreness every time I take it. I stopped taking it for one day and didnt experience these symptoms, then tried it again and started experiencing the symptoms again the same day that I resumed them. So unfortunately I won’t be able to use them.

Great supplement for skin and joints but pills are way too large. Please reduce their size. Rather take two smaller than one horse tablet. I have been swallowing these for years ok but now beginning to have a problem with it.

I had a hard time swallowing it as its bigger than expected. However, my knee aside from taking this supplement seemed better than before. Hope it will be the same or healed completely during the winter season. thank you.

people this is the best online purchase i have ever done.I bought this because i researced a lot and found that MSM is helpful in eliminatinf recurring UTIs.However i will update the review in this regard after using it for long time.I used it for my joint pain as soon as i received it.My right knee joint was so stiff and painful that i was unable to walk straight after getting out from bed in the morning and couldnt even straighten it after sitting for a prolonged period of time. so first day i took half of this tablet and voila i was no longer limoing.second day half and third day full tablet and yes i was functioning normally again.I aslo didnt have any side effect as other reviewers have suffered. I would recommend this to other buyers also.will update the review regarding the other thing i have mentioned after long term use.

This is a branded form of MSM, OptiMSM. Once a day is enough during the initial loading phase (2 or 3 weeks), and 3 times a week is enough for a maintenance dose after that. Results will be happier joints and more elastic skin.
