This is a well-made product. I tried several brands, as X-acto no longer offers the kit I wanted. I returned the rest and kept this because it is far superior. The quality of the materials and manufacturing is obvious as soon as you pick one up. They've actually improved on the original, with slightly different shapes and options; some are more ergonomic, some are completely new. The blades are high quality, very smooth, and very sharp. Even the case is much nicer than the others. The kit, for all the quality and pieces, is very reasonably priced. I'm a fan for sure, and I'm considering ordering a few more sets for presents and a spare for me!

Very nice set with a great price. Nice variety of handles and blades. Great to get the hobbiest started. Quality tools and case. Very sharp blades. The sharpening stone a bonus. USA made yet lower price that competition. I own XACTO knives and could not much difference, I think the Excel blades may be a little sharper.

The tools you get here are superb: wide selection of tips, several handles for different use cases, and a sharpening stone. The one thing that lets it all down is the case. It's a cheap plastic case, like a book-style clamshell VHS case. It's made of thin-walled plastic, which is annoying to extract tools from and put tools into. Additionally, the magnetic strips do a poor job of holding the blades in transit, and I had to carefully place over half of the blades back into their spaces. A better-designed case might have come with a wall of soft material to put pressure against the blades when fully closed.

This set is just what I wanted. There are some criticisms of this set due to the magnet strips not holding the spare blades securely. I found out that the white tape on the top of the magnet strips can be peeled off, leaving just the magnet strip itself, which is much stronger than having that white tape on. Carefully peel that tape off and the blades actually stick quite well.

Cheap. Not worth $52. Maybe $25, but not $52. Horrible plastic case. Blades loose since the magnetic strips are terrible.
