Are the videos (both front and rear) high quality enough to read license plates? How's the quality at night?

I had my camera set to the highest resolution.  Only front camera can read license plate of the car that's right in front of your car when cars are not moving .  Rear camera has very low resolution and can't read anything.  At night, front is dark but you can still see things (not clear), rear can't see anything :(

Is it possible to make the back up screen big and forward small?

yes, it is, in the recording mode, just click the down button to choose the display mode that you want, there are 5 display mode, 
1. Only front view
2. Only rear view,
3. Picture in picture view, front view big rear view small,
4. Picture in picture view, front view small rear view big,
5. Half front view and half rear view
