Use to connect an OWC enclosure with a 4 TB HD, with a USB A - USB Micro cable, to a new Mac Mini.Works just fine.

Returned did not work!
Tried to use this on my Macbook air M1 and would not work for my Panasonic pv-gs19 camcorder from its firewire - connected to one of two thunderbolt ports on M1.Camera not recognized. Tried it off a hub connected to it as well that works with other devices.

Just the trick
Worked perfect as intended.

USB to FireWire Adapter
The adapter fit both cables, but the electronics were not compatible. But, the adapter did fit.

Keep the old gear working
I'm really glad this adapter is available. I don't have a "native" FireWire (IEEE1394) input anymore, so this lets me use the old peripheral equipment with my newer computer.

Be Sure You Know What You Are Doing
Firewire has a power source associated, so you cannot just attach this to your Firewire (in my case an old scanner) and plug it into your USB port. I tried several solutions, and nothing worked--it would not recognize the scanner. Someone more savvy may know the solution, but I could not get it worked out. (Just going to buy a new scanner.)

Didn't work, caused damage
Tried this adapter with a known/working firewire cable, connecting to a known/working peripheral on two known/working computers and had issues with both computers. Connector actually arc'd on one of the machines causing the machine to power off suddenly to protect itself. Other machine issued a warning saying "USB system shutdown. USB will not be operational until last object that was connected is removed. Do not buy, use at your own risk, consider other solutions.
