Awesome Antiseptic That Doesn't Irritate, But May Cause Cancer
A dermatologist sent me home with some of this to try as an effort to help a wicked psuedomonas-infected wound. It definitely seemed to help. I applied it daily. After cleaning the wound with wound wash or Hibiclens, I applied some of this directly to the open wound. I found the best way to use this product is to obtain a small glass or plastic jar that has a lid, and pour some of this item into that container, and use that container for daily use. To avoid pain and spills (I'll get to the staining part later), I would dip a fresh Q-tip directly into that jar of this solution, let it get saturated, then I'd roll the top of the Q-tip across the wound bed. This was a miraculous discovery as far as how to apply lol. Anything else (cotton balls, etc.) would either wind up too messy and being intertwined with my wound, or would hurt from the pressure. It is a great antiseptic product and *does not sting or burn.* Hallelujah. It definitely seemed to fight even this wicked strain of bacteria that eventually got me hospitalized. So it wasn't enough without IV antibiotics, but I could tell a huge improvement in the pain and hot-infrcted feeling on the days I applied this product as compared to the days I did not. As for the bright purple hue. It's real. It will at some point get on something it's not supposed to, but try not to panic. A nurse assistant gave me the brilliant secret to remove it from any surface, even fabrics! Rubbing alcohol. If spilled on a counter or anything, just use some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel to remove it and it's like magic. It also got on my bedsheets and a fabric ivory-colored sofa, but by dousing those areas with with rubbing-alcohol-drenched washcloths and then dabbing with dry ones, it got *every bit* out. Hooray!! A potential downside, apparently this product contains some carcinogens, and has actually been banned in certain countries. It helped me in a battle against a terrible painful bacteria, so hopefully it wont have that effect on me. Also, if you are struggling to fight an as-seriously infected wound as I was, I wouldn't recommend relying on this product. I would go straight to the emergency room and hopefully get admitted to the hospital to treat the infection, as I wound up doing much later down the road. At the time I used this product, I didn't understand the seriousness of the actual bacteria that had been found as the culprit in my wound. If I'd been explained that, I'd have gone running to the hospital right off the bat. Also, this product if used for several days or weeks, will semi-permanently stain the skin. It stained my entire wound bed, including the layers of flesh underneath it, which made it difficult for my infectious disease specialist to see what was actually happening, because the dark purple hue colored out everything. Best of luck and health to you! A great product, but not without a few things to consider.
