It WILL work with a Mac so long as you DON'T follow THEIR instructions because all the patches and formatters you're told to download are outdated or just simply WON'T OPEN.You'll need to do the following on your Mac:1. Open "Applications"2. Open "Utilities"3. Open "Disk Utility"4. Select the HD you want to format on the left5. Click on the Erase tab6. Under "Format:" choose "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)"7. Name the harddrive to whatever you want8. Click "Erase..."DONE!

Is this the same as the WD Elements Portable Hard Drive

Reading the warranty info for all WD drives, I discover that the Passport Ultra carries a 3-year warranty while the WD Elements only rates 1 year of warranty. The WD My Book drives only get 2 years. The PP Ultra looks like the best deal to me even though it is a few more bucks than the Elements.
