Great Warm Mic for Low Price!
I originally came upon this mic when I first started recording a couple of years ago. I enjoyed the warm tone and authenticity that this mic brought to the recording. I used it for my first live recording gig and it performed well considering my rig was pretty awful at the time. I just purchased this mic because I started to do more studio recordings and I needed an inexpensive Large diaphragm condenser that sounded warm and was a good all around mic. I used the MXL V67G for female vocals, male vocals, acoustic guitar, and aux percussion so far and with each instrument I have been very pleased by the performance and the quality. The proximity to the mic provides good tone close and far away with relatively low noise. The hard plastic shock mount that comes with it is of not much use so I would recommend purchasing the MXL 57 shock mount as well. The construction of the mic seems solid and I have had no issues with it. The mic does seem to have a slight break in period but it is very short and the 'newness' wears off to give you that great mellow tube/warm tone. Before I purchased it, I read some reviews where people had trouble with it out of the box not working. The only thing I can think of is that they didn't put on the phantom power because this mic needs to be powered to work. I look forward to trying this with drum overheads, acoustic pianos and possibly scream vocals. All in all, this is a great all around mic and it will enhance your rig. It is surprisingly cheap for how good it sounds, the response is great, it gives true tone of the instrument and it can be used for many different instruments. You won't be disappointed!

Exceeded my expectations!
I purchased the MXL V67 based on user reviews I read on Amazon. I am grateful for the recommendation of others, and I will add my own recommendation for this impressive microphone offered at a very reasonable price. I use the microphone for making recordings for marketing presentations, VoIP telephony voice prompts, voice-overs, live presentations conducted via Webinars, and also for some hobbyist applications including amateur radio and music production. The microphone is so much better than dynamic microphones I was using previously. I also had a chance to compare this microphone to a couple of other condenser microphones, and this sounded as good as one, and better than the other. Subjective? Yes, but the other two people with me also agreed. BTW, both of those other microphones cost at least twice as much as I paid for this one (purchased from Amazon) As has been noted by other reviewers, this microphone has a very wide pickup pattern. It can hear the computer fan on the other side of the room, and another one at about a 50-degree angle. I do have to pay close attention to the ambient noise - but that's a problem with my environment, not with the microphone. I had expected signals from the side to be attenuated more, but that hasn't been my experience (possible reflections, but I don't think so, since acoustic dampening material didn't seem to make any difference.) I keep the microphone mounted in a shock mount, and have it wrapped in a plastic bag (hole in Ziploc bag with rubber-band securing it to mic body, Ziploc opening sealed hanging over end of microphone (mounted upside-down) to keep dust out of the mic - and found that it still picks up sound well, so for casual recording or when using it for webinars or voice communication, I just keep it enclosed in the bag. When I'm creating something for production, I open the Ziploc seal on the bag and roll up onto the microphone body to expose the microphone screen. This has worked well and keeps the microphone clean, and ready to use at any moment. This microphone has exceeded my expectations for its clarity and responsiveness. I am pleased to recommend the XML V67 (G) to you.

Fantastic mic for V.O. work!
I use this microphone for professional voice over narration, and it performs just as well as more expensive mics. I have had no issues with it, whether recording character voices or audio book narration. While this isn't likely to be the go-to mic for a studio, it wouldn't be out of place there either, and will serve wonderfully for a home studio environment. It is a sensitive cardioid patterned microphone, so if there are large sources of background noise (furnace, fans, T.V., etc...) in a nearby room, it WILL be picked up in your recording. The V67G has a clear, rich tone, and requires little to no EQ for my voice. When getting up close, the proximity effect adds a great depth to the voice without distorting the tone, and without needing too large of a reduction on the gain. Overall, this microphone is well worth the money and then some! The MXL V67G is a condenser microphone, and requires an XLR cable hookup and a phantom power supply. Getting a good interface is just as important as having a good microphone, so be sure to research the interface that will work best for you. I would recommend a Focusrite Scarlet series interface to start with, but do your own research to find what will work best for your use.

Wow!
My setup: 1 HP Laptop with i5 processor 1 Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 1 JVC over the ears headphone 1 SM58 1 SM57 1 e945 1 MXL V67G (the latest addition to my setup as of yesterday) Audacity The MXL V67G is the first condenser microphone I have owned or used. It is very sensitive as it picks up the smallest sound - if you heard it the mic probably picked it up too. It picks up every nuance of your voice without you having to struggle to be heard. I used it without a pop filter and I sang from about a foot away. Didn't hear any issues with pop. I did read that the pop filter is to prevent moisture (i.e your spit) from corroding the mics internals. I tried it in my bedroom, in the bathroom, and in the shower (large space, small space, tiny space) and it reproduced the dynamics of each room quite accurately. I am very pleased with this microphone. It is the cheapest mic I own and it is the only one that I feel reproduces my voice accurately. Granted that it cannot be used like the other three dynamic microphones - but it captures the full range easily where for the other three I have to be practically swallowing the microphone to be heard. For under $80, this mic is a bargain! It comes very plainly packed in a white box lined with black sponge. A very basic holder is included which will allow you to mount it gold side down (is there a right side up?) if you so desire. The microphone looks every bit as classic in real life as it does on the web. It has a solid heft to it, but I suspect that the screen won't hold up to much abuse - I don't intent to try out how much it can handle. The box also contains a felt lined pouch to carry the microphone. I don't plan on using it cos it does not look like it will provide any sort of protection to the mic. I plan to keep the mic in its box - wish it came in a box like the MXL 770. On the bottom end of the mic you will see a black plastic ring. To mount the mic on the included holder, you unscrew the plastic ring from the base of the mic, put the mic on the holder, and screw the ring back in. The ring holds the mic to the holder. The included holder attaches to the business end of any regular OnStage mic stand. The included mic holder and the plastic ring feel very cheap. I don't expect these to last long and I see myself having to invest in some sort of shock mount in the near future. The Focusrite 2i2 is powered by USB and it did a great job providing the phantom power for this mic. There is a blip when the phantom power is turned on with the mic connected and that is the only indication that the mic is ON and ready. I guess I'm saying, a little light could have helped to indicate that the mic is on but at this price point, for a mic this good, I think that's an unfair nit-pik. Right now, I totally love this mic. It makes me wonder what the $700 and up mics are capable of - but I don't think I will need them. Docking 1 star for the poor quality mic holder cos I can't dock half a star.

Unbeatable Value
Many years ago, I walked into a Grammy-award-winning studio to record a few tracks with my band. The engineer put me in a vocal booth with a really cool-looking green microphone with a gold mesh windscreen. I couldn't believe how crisp and gutsy my vocals sounded. I assumed I was singing into a very expensive brand-name microphone. But when I asked the engineer, he pulled me aside and said, "I'll tell you a secret." That's when he told me this awesome microphone cost less than $100. I was floored. Of all the fabulously expensive mics this guy had at his disposal, this was the one he picked. And he was right. Fast forward several years later. I finally decided to add the MXL 67G to my own collection. And like before, I'm constantly impressed with how great it sounds. It is "the" microphone for my vocals. Recently, I've also taken a liking to using it for 12-string acoustic guitar. It sounds clear, clean, and bright. It easily wins out over other mics I own costing five or even six times more. Is this the right microphone for everything? Absolutely not. It has a very pleasing presence for vocals, but it's a bit too harsh for sax (as an example). I use an sE Voodoo VR1 ribbon microphone on sax. I still rely on my trusty Audio Technica 4033a for lots of things, like flute, trumpet, and hand percussion. And while the MXL 67G is great for MY vocals, that doesn't mean it will necessarily be the best for yours. But I'll say this. You won't find a better microphone at this price point. I can almost guarantee that. And you'll never regret having this in your arsenal. NOTE: This microphone is VERY sensitive. You will need the MXL 57 Shockmount (sold separately) pretty much all the time. If you purchase the mic, be sure to throw the MXL 57 in your cart, too.

Awesome Mic for a Great Price
I'm pretty new to using mics and PA systems but have used dynamic mics in the past, recreationally. This condenser mic is way larger and heavier than a dynamic mic, I was surprised when I took it out of the box. It is as good looking in person as in the pictures. Three things for the benefit of other newbs: 1.) I learned that condenser mics are very susceptible to moisture and so you have to purchase a windscreen if you're going to use this for vocals, since moisture from singing into the mic can damage it. 2.) This has a cardioid pickup pattern; you don't sing directly into the end of the mic like a dynamic mic. This should stand straight up on a mic stand, paying attention to which way the mic is facing since it there will be a lot of attenuation on one side of it. 3.) It requires phantom power. You need a PA that provides 48V power to use it. When I first used this mic, I tried singing into the end of it and couldn't hear myself very well. Later in the evening I was standing off to the side and could hear myself so loud that I had to back away about a foot from the mic. Then I remembered reading about the cardioid pattern and stood it up straight on the mic stand, paying attention to the orientation of the mic. It was so sensitive that I really had to stay backed up from the mic and it was easy for two or three people to stand around it for vocals. I have a Rainsong WS1100 acoustic electric guitar I was playing, and was able to turn off my amp completely because this mic picked up the instrument and my vocals so clearly. Other musicians were impressed by it as well. I payed just under a $100 for it, which I think is a great value for this product.

Mic Drop? More Like Mic Never Picked Up!
I'd love to tell you all about the crystal-clear sound quality of this mic, or how it beautifully captures the nuances of my voice. I'd relish the opportunity to praise its sleek design and easy setup. There's just one tiny, insignificant little problemโthe mic never showed up! (Not the BRAND'S fault, but the VENDOR - avoid them they are a scam) Ordered and expected to start using in my home studio, I was instead treated to an epic saga of tracking updates that led nowhere. It's like this mic took a detour to Narnia, or perhaps it's serenading a mailbox on the lost island of Atlantis. I'm left checking the porch daily, not for the mic, but out of sheer habit. One star, because no star isn't an option. If you enjoy mysteries, puzzles, and the existential dread of waiting for something that may never come, this is the perfect purchase for you! Otherwise, I'd suggest looking at another vendor for your audio needs.

Impressive
I had been doing research on this mic, I owned a MXL 990 at one time and it's a good mic, and I now own another mic that is much more expensive. However I was looking for a back up mic and saw the reviews and heard the videos and decided to check it out. The MXL V67G Large Capsule Condenser Microphone surprised me as it has been performing way better than anticipated especially for the price. It has surpassed my expectations, for my voice it gives me a deeper richer tone which you normally get from a more expensive mic. With this mic I use less processing. It has a very nice warm tone, I guess you could say I'm shocked considering the price compared to the quality of the recordings I've been doing. MXL did good on this one, most mics in this price range are thin and tinny sounding not so with the MXL V67G Large Capsule Condenser Microphone. For my voice it does Great and it looks Great too.So if your on a tight budget give this mic a chance, there's no other mic out there at this price that can match it's performance hands down. It actually is competitive with my other that is 10 times the price.Needless to say I'm impressed. Check it out and be your own judge.5 Stars.

Would be great value if it lasted
Mic failed almost instantly and there are no schematics that I can find to troubleshoot the electronics. I'm considering buying another one just to find some component values to try and repair my dead one but I feel like it's probably a waste of time/money. I've read decent things about these mics but I wonder whether amazon are selling a dud batch or something as I'm seeing reports of similar failings. Probably better off buying a rode nt1 or similar if looking for an affordable ldc that is actually reliable. Avoid is my advice.

I wanted a decent studio microphone for dubbing home studio ...
I wanted a decent studio microphone for dubbing home studio vocals and of course I looked around for value. Frankly the first one-take recording hit the mark (with minimal editing) and I put that out immediately on the Tube. It certainly took hold of my old voice and chums said was that really you. Grateful but a proper review will follow in 6 months after more takes. Now, if someone stole it, I would immediately buy another. Now 8 months recording with it and totally satisfied. Yes it is sensitive but at home you get noise with all condenser microphones and simple editing removes it. Captures the vocal with a warm and sweet old sound. Makes me think about the Unidynes in the Sun Studio Memphis.
