Athletic Paints for grass fields You purchase Athletic Paint in 5 gallons buckets and its real pasty. So you mix 5 gallons of water or 10 gallons of water with it. Usually 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 mix. This gets the paint cost down to $2 or $3 gallons of mixed material. Don’t spend a lot for paint, just an inexpensive Athletic Field Paint because you end up mowing the grass 2 weeks later and relining. You can buy the Athletic Paint for approx. $35 or $40 per 5 gallons. It takes approx. 10 gallons of mixed material to line the border of the field and all the 5 yard lines. Then approx. 10 gallons to do the numbers and hash marks for the football field. Depending on how thick you put the paint down on the field.

How much water do you mix per 1 gallon of paint

The key to getting an even spray pattern is getting the thinness of the paint just right. Usually 2 or 3 quarts of water per 5 gallons of paint. We send a Viscosity Cup with the unit, that insures it is just right before you pour it into the paint tank.
