Big Student Backpack Color: Black

I bought one of these a few years ago, and just got another to have as a spare. These are very well-built backpacks, with a lot of room in them, designed to fill out in a large but compact manner. There are just enough extra pockets and compartments to be handy but not get in the way. This items is quite sturdy and wears very well, with the exception of the bottle pocket on the side, the bottom of which detached on my older one. Includes a main compartment (large enough for a 15" laptop in its own holder sleeve as well as at least 3 largish textbooks); a secondary large compartment to fill out the main storage (preventing you from having to put everything in one giant space); a large pocket on the back (good for tablets like an iPad) with smaller pockets inside for notebooks and pens; a smaller pocket on that (good for a variety of smaller objects up to small notebook size); and a shallow pocket above both of the previous, good for eyeglass cases, pens, cloths, what have you. There is a single bottle pouch behind your right arm when you're wearing it; as mentioned above, this was the first part on my pack that failed. However, considering the heavy use I put it to, I would call that acceptable damage; a lot of cheaper backpacks I have bought fall apart completely in much less time. Jansport has been around for a long time and has always made good products; go with this over a cheaper model every time. In the long run, you'll save money.

I bought this for my 12 year old son who seems to bring home a lot of books and homework. He actually likes this backpack, partly due to all the pockets and compartments. I like it because it looks durable and has plenty of room for binders, books, and a tablet. I think we can even fit food and snacks in there for him. He's at that age where clothes and shoes seem to wear out so quickly, but I think this will last a while. He takes good care of it, and even though it's only a few months old, I feel like we're going to be using it for years. With Target being our favorite go-to store, we as parents feel like we got a really good deal on this pack. The brand and size of this one on Amazon made it the better bang for the buck compared to local stores that sold the same brand. We can't really find any cons to this backpack, hence the 5 stars.

This is exactly what I wanted. It's very well made. Sturdy. It has several compartments and it holds "lots of stuff" - clothing, computer, books etc. I bought this to carry things and store under my seat on a plane. I wanted it to be able to accommodate my computer, ipad, knitting project, overnight change of clothes and stuff to nibble on for LONG flights as part of week-plus long overseas trips. Other under-seat bags I've tried are either too small or don't have compartments so I can never find anything. This fits the bill. And no. it doesn't have a sleeve to fit over your roller bag, but you can just carry it as a back pack which works even better for me. I also carry a small cross body bag for passport and $$ so I don't worry about anybody stealing important things from the backpack.

OMG I can't believe I finally found a backpack that my daughter loves! Just like everyone says, it's so much bigger than you expect. Even when it was delivered we thought it was too small, and almost packed it back up again to return when we decided to go ahead and load her stuff into it--and were shocked to find that everything fit and carried up so high on her back that it's so much better for her back pain. And the BEST part of all this is that Jansport warranties their bags for wear and tear--and since we've had to replace her bag every 6 months or less, I'm certain we'll take full advantage of this! I'm even thinking of buying a second one so we don't have to wait for the first to come back fixed....because the price....oh the price! I mean, I had just purchased a Samsonite backpack for twice this price last month and the zipper broke after 3 days of use. So now I get a bag at half the price, just as comfortable, with a lifetime warranty on wear and tear. I am one happy customer!

I've only had it for a month so far, but it fulfills everything I require from a backpack. This is from the perspective of a 5' 9" 150lb individual. Pro: - Lots of space. It is able to hold my laptop, ipad, electronic accessories, notebook, change of clothes for the gym, lunch and dinner, and a mini pharmacy of OTC drugs with room to spare. - Straps and zipper feel durable (though I've only had it for a month, so take this with a large grain of salt) - Doesn't slouch down when I wear it (after adjusting the straps to hug me moderately tightly) - The water bottle holder on the side holds on really tight, doesn't fall out from turning fast like my last backpack. Con: - Not really a huge con, but there isn't a laptop sleeve and I thought there would be one (oops). - The straps are not the most comfortable on my shoulder but it's not painful unless you're carrying a lot of weight and wear it for a long time. If the straps were more comfortable this would be 5 stars for sure.

I used Jansport throughout college and has, without a doubt, been the best investment for a Strong/Sturdy backpack that you would ever need. I went to undergraduate school and Medical School, and MANY times I carried a lot of books and the Jansport backpack was the Best at carrying heavy loads. It is not made for the laptop, specifically, yet can carry one without a problem. It does not have a special sleeve for the laptop, yet can carry everything, including a laptop. It is water-resistant. I would not submerge it in water to see if it is really waterproof, yet for almost anybody's needs it will keep everything dry inside of it. Students and Campers will find lots of room for things inside of it. If anything goes wrong, just get in touch with Jansport, they will be more than helpful, considering it has a Lifetime guarantee, and Jansport has been around for a very long time. Remember, it is not padded inside of it (for example, a padded sleeve for a laptop). Yet, there is padding for your back when you use the backpack. The shoulder straps are comfortable and adjustable. GREAT price on Amazon, and I looked around! With Amazon's return policy, it is well worth a try, because you can always return it, For Free!

I previously owned this exact backpack, and I needed another because dumb me tried using fabric glue to attach some nice patches I got. Moral of the story: DO NOT TRY AND ATTACH THINGS TO THIS BACKPACK WITH FABRIC GLUE! It WILL NOT stick and you'll end up with a dried glue mess all over your backpack that will NOT come off! But back to the backpack itself: it is an AWESOME backpack! It is a huge backpack, and if you're like me, it will carry EVERYTHING you need for school and then some. I was fitting 2 textbooks, a few binders, food, clothing, etc, and it handled everything perfectly! I was never one to buy a locker at school, so I had to get a big backpack in order to carry everything and this one works like a charm! It's pretty heavy duty and will last you years. I do not go easy on things, and this was no exception, and it STILL lasted me. Like I said, don't mess it up with glue or anything else because it just won't stick! I am so completely satisfied with this purchase and if you like to take everything with you when you go to school, or anywhere for that matter, this is the backpack for you!

This thing has lasted me YEARS! Every school year, I always had my backpack shred on me halfway through. It never failed. There'd be a hole in the bottom or a zipper would rip off or a strap buckle would brake. This is probably because I carry EVERY book i'll need for the day in my bookbag. Even when I gained lockers, I did not put my stuff in them as it'd be too much of a bother to travel all around the school to get something from it when there is only so much time to get to class. That isn't even mentioning that i'm forgetful and would leave something important at the school. So I knew I needed a heavy-duty bookbag that could take heavy loads, and this is what I came up with. It seemed like the biggest one I could find and so I ordered it. It's been three or four years and I have not had to replace it yet! That's with everything i've needed inside it for that particular day for three or four school years! I measured my full pack once and it was about 30 Pounds. This thing can take a beating. After all this time it still doesn't show any wear beyond some dust that's accumulated on the bottom from sitting it on class floors and some slight (and I mean like if you took a dull shaving razor and lightly scraped it along small bits of it) scratching from sliding it under desks. If your tired of having to purchase new bookbags every year or think your going to need something that can handle a lot of stress/weight, look no further!

Love the backpack. Very comfortable. My puppy chewed the zipper, I returned it to jansport and they sent me a brand new backpack! No hassle or questions asked!
