How in the world is a person supposed to clean this properly without being able to open it?!

The smallest bottle cleaning tool fits perfectly inside and allows you to scrub around without damaging the nose sucker. I make sure to bag and label it so I don't use it on the bottles. Don't be wasteful, especially when the best bulb you'll ever get is from the hospital. Always send a backup bulb sucker and not your good one to other places though. It's best to suck alcohol into the bulb each night after use and then to use the bottle cleaning tool at least every 2-3 uses to make sure all of the gunk is out.

What size is this? 2oz, 3oz?

It doesn't say, but if I had to guess I would say 3oz. It is the same size as the ones they use at hospitals for newborns.

How many ounces of water does the syringe hold?

Just a couple. Its not huge. Truthfully I use it as a snot sucker so I haven't actually tried to fill it.

Has anyone tried to use these to clean fountain pens?

That was the only purpose I purchased the aspirator for, it works great.
