Water gets a lot of coverage on the radio, on television and in the press. Its properties and contamination are discussed, the differences between mineral and mineralized water are provided and so on and so forth. This knowledge is useful and broadens our horizons. However, there is little to no information about ionized water, yet in Japan and South Korea they have known about the beneficial effects for decades and it is now gaining more and more popularity in Western Europe, especially Germany. There are numerous books, movies and tests explaining the magnificent properties of ionized water, and a great deal of information can also be found on the Internet. Nevertheless, in most countries very little is known about the use of ionized water for prophylaxis, the treatment of certain diseases, disinfection, ecological agriculture, etc. It is hard to understand why the abundance of available information about ionized water does not get the attention of our medics and other specialists. The very fact that German clinical trials, during which ionized alkaline water was used to treat diabetes, gave promising results should encourage our scientists to find out more about these trials and possibly give hope for hundreds of thousands of patients. Moreover, some countries do not even have certified laboratories to test a very important water indicator – oxidation-reduction potential (ORP). This indicator describes the antioxidant properties of water, its suitability for the body fluids, and much more. The very request to determine this indicator is met with astonishment, “Why? The standards do not provide for that.” Such a situation encouraged the author to summarize the information about ionized water by using various literatures and an abundance of information on the Internet. The purpose of this book is to draw attention to the unique properties of ionized water, the scope of its application, especially for prophylaxis, to encourage scientists and specialists to show more interest in the works of their colleagues abroad and to assess the possibilities of practical use.

nothing more than marketing aquacure
The general idea behind this book is that many of the waste products your body produces are acidic (true), these waste products need to be neutralized by the body (true), and ionized alkaline water greatly assists with that process (up to you to decide). It makes natural sense that an alkaline substance would be beneficial in removing acidic substances. I was in agreement with the author and was buying into the benefits of ionized water outlined by the author, but I did a little due diligence and tried to corroborate the author's claims. First and foremost I should note that my skepticism did start while reading this book - there's several sections that attempt to prove the author's claims with chemistry; these attempts came off as though they were deliberately meant to confuse the reader (I have a weak understanding of chemistry so I was able to follow along for the most part, but they lost me at times). After reading the book, I looked for the water ionizing product that is mentioned several times in this book - aquacure. When I found their website, I immediately recognized their home page copy - it was from this book! That was a big red flag for me, so I began to look to other sources of info on ionized water. I immediately found dozens of sites outlining ionized water as a hoax. One such site really spoke to me - it stated that the alkalinity of ionized water would be destroyed by your stomach acid, something the author stated as something that occurs to alkaline foods (I never put 2 and 2 together while reading)! It also stated that city water is frequently alkaline as alkaline water doesn't rust pipes. to me, this leads me to draw the conclusion that ionized water being extermely beneficial to health is bullocksMoral of the story, if you want advice on how to improve your healt, read "how and when to be your own doctor" - it holds MUCH more valid and meaningful advice than this book.

Amazing power of alkaline water!
This stuff is amazing. I've had an irregular Heat beat for a long time. After drinking the alkaline water my heart beat is normal. It absolutely blew my cardiologist's mind. I had gout in my right big toe and pain in my left knee and they went away after about a month of drinking the water. I don't know what is is but it surely worked for me. Coincidence. Who knows, but I'm happy.
