Would this unit cool an approx 150sqft garage enough for guests to sleep? North Florida climate is pretty hot!

It will not work in Florida or any place with humidity. Need to have a dry climate for evaporative cooler to work.

Removable filterpads? Can they be cleaned or do you purchase new ones

From what I read they can they are removable, cleaned with the special agent and replaceable

Is there a safety to turn the water pump off if the water gets too low?

No. There is not a safety shut off for the water pump should it run dry. I keep mine hooked to water hose so this never happens
