The description says "easy release plates" for easy cleanup. How does that work??

You grease or oil them before you bake your waffles - important to use cooking sprays WITHOUT silicone, which can cause a sticky buildup. I used spray canola oil and there was no sticking, right down to the ninth waffle (the included recipe would have made ten had I not used too much on the first one!) The plates are not removable.
