Reliable, No-Frills Workhorse That Just Keeps Going
Reliable, No-Frills Workhorse That Just Keeps Going The Brother HL-L2320D is one of those rare printers that simply does its job year after year without fuss. I’ve used mine heavily for reports, invoices, and forms—well over a few thousand pages—and it continues to perform like new. Setup was quick (downloaded the driver from Brother’s site), and once it’s connected via USB, it prints instantly every time. Print quality is sharp and consistent, especially for text-heavy documents. It’s not wireless, which may bother some, but I actually prefer the reliability of a direct USB connection—no Wi-Fi drops or driver confusion. The duplex (two-sided) printing feature is a huge plus for saving paper, and the print speed easily handles large batches without jamming. Toner life is excellent, and even generic replacements work surprisingly well without quality loss. The printer is compact, quiet, and sturdy—everything you want in a dependable black-and-white printer. Just note that it doesn’t come with a USB cable, so keep one handy. Bottom line: If you need a simple, durable, and affordable laser printer for home or small office use, this Brother is an absolute workhorse that’s built to last.

A sturdy little workhorse **UPDATE 5 years later, still loving it**
I have printed over 5,000 pages (3,700 over a 2 day period) on this bad boy so far, using both OEM ink and the substantially cheaper re-manufactured and off brand ink. I realize that publicly admitting to using non OEM ink voids my warranty, and I am fine with that. It is a good printer, and people should know that it handles the re-manufactured ink like a champ. I have used Toner Jockey and Ink E-Sale, which both work perfectly in this printer and perform about the same. I have had to clean the print head many times in order to keep my prints clean, but that is something that you should do regularly to maintain your printer anyways. I do have to clean it a bit more frequently when using ink other than the OEM, but that is worth it to me for the dramatically lower cost per cartridge. I love the double sided print option, it works very well. I have only had one jam so far, and I have been putting this printer through the paces. I have not had any issues with the printer at all. I will update my review when this printer dies or I have issues with it. FYI- it does NOT come with a USB cable. I just used the one from my old printer and it was no big deal to me. I always keep the cords and cables from electronics when they die, for just this very reason. I am in the Vine Voice program, but I bought this printer with my own money in order to review toner cartridges that were offered for "free" (there's taxes) to review. **UPDATE** I have been using this printer for a year, and I love it as much as I did at the beginning. I have run several different brands of re-manufactured ink through it and have not had any issues aside from needing to clean the print heads frequently. I've had two jams in the entire life of the printer, and they were easy to clear. **2nd UPDATE** It is 2024, I got this in 2019. It is still going strong and I haven't used an OEM cartridge since the one that came with the machine. Proper maintenance and cleaning keeps this guy running seemingly forever. When this does inevitably die, I will be getting another of the exact same model. 5 stars

good quality, prints fast and good value for the ...
bought this for my wife who does accounting work and needs to print a lot. The feeder is kind of a bust because you can apparently only do one page at a time. so when she wants to print checks she has to do them one at a time. she just loads them into the paper tray now so she can print batches - so pain in the you know what there. Strangely, it didn't PnP on my fresh Windows 10 Home install. I had to download the latest drivers off the brother site and after the install it showed up - but weird that I didn't even see it and Windows didn't try to grab drivers for it on it's own. Just FYI on that. Otherwise, good quality, prints fast and good value for the price.

Great quality, quick and pretty quiet, great with linux
I run a linux server at home for various reasons, and wanted to replace my old Samsung laser printer with something new that still worked well with Linux. I searched around trying to find something that wouldn't be a nightmare to set up and I settled on this one. I'm happy to say that this was a breeze to set up under Linux and I've been using it without issue since. I'm printing to it from my laptops, tablets, and phones, through the linux machine it's attached to. As far as the printer itself, the print quality is great, it's super quick and relatively quiet as far as home laser printers go. I haven't used it long enough to have an opinion on toner life, but assuming it's decent, I'm very happy with it so far. If you've got a linux machine, server or workstation, and are looking for a good home laser printer, I have no reason not to recommend this to you. It's a great price, easy to deal with Linux, and I'm quite happy with the print quality. Thumbs up.

Inexpensive toner cartridges.
Finally the perfect printer for my home / office / use that doesn't bankrupt you when you go to replace the toner cartridges. This is a really nice, easy to use, easy to install, simple laser printer. It prints quickly and it does a nice job doing it. If yer looking for a printer that just prints really well then you probably won't be disappointed with this one. The $69.99 price I paid for a new printer is no longer available. Good thing I bought it when I did. UPDATE: It's now been well over 3 years since I purchased this printer and it hasn't had a single problem. None. And zero paper jams. It just continues to work flawlessly, and I could not have made a better choice in a Monochrome printer.

Pros: -Toner cartridge separate from drum so not forced to replace both on a single refill -Much lower cost per page for printing compared to inkjets -Fast printing -smaller than most laser printers -well rather small compared to many laser printers it still has a 250 sheet paper tray which is way more than most inkjets -Has manual feed slot for printing on envelopes or other paper types. -Double sided printing Cons: -The only way to use this printer is by a USB cable and it does not come with said cable. Be prepared to also buy a USB type A to Type B cable when buying the printer unless you already have one laying around. -Is larger than many Inklets that are not all in one types. Things this printer doesn't have: (not a con as not advertised to have these) -No wireless or built in networking option -Monochrome only, no colour -No multiple paper trays for different types of paper Other thoughts: Well I gave it a good test print with a j-novel that is mostly text and a few pictures and did double sided printing to test the speed. I was not able to find anywhere that stated the speed of the double sided printing so I had to test it out with a 196 page book on double sided printing (98 sheets of paper). I timed it and it came out to 7.7 pages per minute on double sided mode so yes that took 12:17 to print all 98 double sided sheets. I knew this printer is not meant for pictures and the pics did have noticeable print lines on them but all the text was crips and easy to read. I hooked up this printer to my home theater PC in my living room and shared it over my network so any computer on my home network can print to it without having to move it and mess with cables. I would never even think of printing such a large job on an inkjet at all.....

Pros: Easy access in case of paper jams Double-sided printing Toner goes a long way (The original toner lasted 2 years for a 2 person household) Toner is reasonable in price for its longevity Very durable Cons: No wireless/networking. You connect it directly to a PC No color. Quality of print is okay- It's not great for presentation quality printouts (although I never set it to high quality) We've had this printer for well over 2 years now and just recently replaced the toner. There has been no issues other than very infrequent paper jams which are easily handled. removing and replacing the toner is easy, and it's set up that you don't need to touch the toner part. (No getting your hands dirty during installation!) The toner didn't need to be primed, either. If you're looking for a picture printer, this isn't for you. If you're looking for something durable and reliable, for personal use- like printing bills and recipes or stories, this is a great printer that can save paper by printing on both sides of the page.
