Ideal for my compact pickup ...
As others have commented, the Waypoint is an exceptionally bright, compact source of light. Seems tight and well-put-together in all regards. I am sure it would be right at home in a law enforcement or rescue context. So far I am quite happy. I will place it immediately between the shifter and front seat of my pickup, where it will replace a Brinkmann Blue Max Marine Spotlight that has been there across two trucks, many replacement batteries, and 16 years. Because of its size, this light will fit the space BETTER. I doubt that I'll have any use for the "mounting bracket" that is made of black plastic and only provides minimal protection and support. (Wouldn't want to screw it down anywhere -- looks like the plastic would flex too much and maybe rip if you pushed the lamp in too firmly or pulled it out fast. However, the light can "wear" the mounting molding like a jacket -- at least this may keep the lens clean and un-scuffed.) There are two steel wire loops on top of the unit (I suppose for a shoulder strap -- unit is light enough that this will never be an option I purchase.) However, the wrist lanyard and the rubberized tube through which it is threaded are a nice touch. I will definitely use these, as well as the cord-lock that cinches the lanyard and keeps it from sliding over your hand. The Brinkmann was unbelievably bright and penetrating (although it got quite hot and had a short use time -- about 40 minutes -- on a full charge). I mention this because I have already used the Streamlight for about two hours on medium brightness and there has been no discernible reduction in its brightness. It also gets a bit warm, but NOTHING like the halogen bulb of its predecessor. This unit is much lighter, nearly as bright as the Brinkmann, water-proof, and offers a brightness-selector switch, also usable to control battery life. Most of these features are commonplace now, but were unavailable when the Blue Max was bought; I like all of them. Manufacturer's packaging is "minimalist," but sufficient to protect contents. 110-V charger is small, unobtrusive, and functions well. Instructions said to expect a four-hour initial charge time; the green fully-charged indicator lit after about 1 hour. The flip-up top handle doubles as an adjustable base if you invert the unit. Adjustments on it are close together, giving you many angles from which to choose. The pivot for this base is TIGHT and seems as if it will not slip from one angle to another. I was surprised by the brevity of the owner's manual -- 1 sheet, glossy, folded into a "pamphlet" containing information in multiple languages. I wonder about the Li battery(ies). Nothing in the manual about replacement, and I tend to keep lights for decades (note beginning of review). A factory-replacement only part? I guess I'll find out after about 700 of the 800 promised recharges, LOL. On the whole, this has earned each of its 5 stars. Goodbye, "Old Blue Eye!"

My kids call it "The articial sun"
It is bright. Seriously bright. It is not a giant thing like others are. It is ruggedized and will withstand several drops. It has three brightness settings, flashlight, bright flashlight, and focused fusion reactor. I bought this to replace an earlier version of the same light. I believe the earlier one was rated in the 500 Lumen range and that was the first "artificial sun". That one's battery died after a couple years (understandable), but Streamlight does not offer replacement batteries. Is this one brighter? Probably. I don't have a battery for my old one to compare and it's been dead for a year or so. If I don't come up with a battery solution to this when it finally dies in a couple years, I'll probably buy the most current version of this. There are several accessories available. This one came with a bracket/holster thing to mount in your vehicle. My old one had a red filter and a green filter that attached to the front. It comes with a wrist lanyard that allows you to carry other stuff while this thing dangles, but I wouldn't recommend doing that with it on. It's small enough that I usually chuck it in my backpack.

Absolutely Love This Light – Bright, Durable, and Reliable
I cannot express how much I love this light! The Streamlight Waypoint 400 is insanely bright — bright enough to see through my coworkers' excuses! It's perfect for covering multiple acres, and I use it regularly on large properties. It’s tough, waterproof, and built to last. The battery life is excellent, and the beam distance is impressive charges fast, Not to big but not to small, Works amazing. Whether you're working outdoors, patrolling, or just need serious illumination, this light delivers in every way. Hands down one of the best flood lights I’ve ever owned.

Very bright and dependable
This is a good spotlight. Appreciate that it’s chargeable, saving on batteries. The first one purchased went in our house, then my husband wanted one in his shop. Price had gone up dramatically. They are pricey but quality is good.

Best light out there for the money! Super bright, lightweight, and durable. Good longevity, just try to run the battery dead as I don’t think it’s good to be charging it at half or quarter. Oldest flashlight is at least ten years old, battery doesn’t last as long as the new one but still as bright as the day it was bought! Yes, it’s expensive. Yes, you need to buy it. No, trust me, you won’t regret this purchase. And yes, I’ve used maglite before and won’t be going back.

I've had 4 Streamlights Waypoints over the years for Pest bird and wildlife jobs. I wore 2 out and got streamlight warranty on them unexpected and awesome, but that's not why I like them. The Waypoints have a deep parabolic reflector the beam is concentrated to a fine useful point, perfect for looking for holes, and corners of warehouse's 20-49 ft away, often against the bright sky or even sun, which is typical for looking for bird and squirrel holes. Even though lumens are less that other flash light, it still beats them. Now I use a Laser flash light (That sucker goes for a mile or so.). and waypoints.

Excellent light for evening boating and when you hear a noise in the woods. Powerful beam in a well balanced and modest size Charge lasts many more hours than previous spotlights I have owned. I am so pleased with the Streamloghts performance that I have gifted several to family and close friends. This product lives up to the manufacturer's claims.
