Scotch Thermal Laminator, 2 Roller System for a Professional Finish, Use for Home, Office or School, Suitable for use with Photos (TL901X)

I've worked around plenty of laminating equipment, so I appreciate a smaller machine that keeps things simple. The Scotch TL901X is a good option for those everyday jobs where I don't need anything complicated—I just want to put something in a pouch, run it through, and get a clean finished piece. The two-roller system does a nice job of applying consistent heat and pressure. When the pouch and material are properly lined up, the finished piece comes out smooth and professional looking. It's useful for things like documents, signs, reference sheets, certificates, menus, photos, and other items that I want to protect from handling or moisture. The compact size also makes much more sense for a home, classroom, or small office than having a large laminating machine taking up space. As with any thermal laminator, I make sure it's fully warmed up and that I'm using the correct pouch before feeding anything important through it. A little patience during setup usually prevents most laminating problems. It's not production equipment, and I wouldn't expect it to be. For smaller everyday laminating jobs, though, Scotch made this easy to use and dependable. Sometimes I just need to laminate one sheet—not fire up something big enough to laminate the side of a building. This handles those smaller jobs just fine.

Purchased this when it was a daily Amazon special and am so happy I did! I've used it to laminate aging sheet music and to protect recipes from the ravages of kitchen spills. Both were easily and quickly done, with great results. The Laminator: It's a lightweight, small footprint device that is very simple to operate. On/Off switch, a release lever to use if the item you are laminating jams, and a 3mm or 5mm switch - relates to the thickness of whatever you are laminating; use the 5mm for thick paper or two regular sheets of paper which are back to back. The 5mm setting is the hottest and the machine takes about 8 minutes to heat up for initial use at this setting. When placing two regular sheets of paper back to back (with recipes on each side), inserting them in the 9 x 12 pouches with the crease into the machine first (any bubbles escape out the open end), I was able to laminate my project in less than 10 seconds. Very quick and easy, and the front end (the part that comes out of the machine first) is cool to the touch with the end out last cooling off in approximately 15 seconds. The laminator remains hot and after multiple sheets, I noticed no change in the output quality of this laminator. The Pouches: The laminating pouches that are used with this machine come in several brands including the Scotch brand. All are on Amazon and you can choose smaller sizes than the 2 large sized ones that come with this unit, but I'd suggest the same size and if you choose to laminate two smaller items you can simply use one pouch and cut the final sheet into two. Tips: Make sure when you are laminating that you have at least a quarter inch around the item you are laminating so that the pouch can adhere to itself - sealing the sides and protecting your item. If you leave the item sticking out, proper adhesion can't occur. Don't put lumpy items in the machine to be laminated. This will jam the machine and won't get the item laminated! Overall, it's a great item for under twenty dollars, and the only real costs are in the laminating pouches so shop around and get the best deal. Some on Amazon include: 5 mil Letter hot Laminating Pouches 100/box 9" x 11.5" glossy thermal laminator pockets , Clear Laminating Pouches, 5 mil, 2-1/4" x 3-3/4", , and Scotch(TM) Thermal Laminating Pouches, 9 Inches x 11.4 Inches, 50 Pouches (TP3854-50) . Check 'em out to see what works best for your needs, but all will work with this super-easy to use, quality laminator. UPDATE: July 25, 2011 I've been using this product to laminate back to back sheets of recipes, printed on regular printer paper. It works great! Using a 3-hole punch I then put my recipes into a 3-ring binder to have handy in the kitchen. If a page gets wet, I simply wipe it off and keep going. School awards and artwork get the same treatment before being put into safe-keeping. All in all, this is one of the best products I've ever purchased for home and office use. Highly recommend it!

Oh my gosh! I love this thing. If you are looking for a simple to use laminator, this is hot. Heats up quickly. Laminates well. No issues!

Great laminator does the job and does it an ideal time. Comes with 3 pack of laminator sheets but I ordered extra since I laminated a lot for our homeschool work: it is wrinkle resistant great value for the money spent. I would say it is pretty durable.

This laminator has been a great little purchase! There was literally no setup involved—just take it out of the box, plug it in, turn it on, and let it heat up for a few minutes. It’s very simple and easy to use, even for beginners. I’ve laminated several items so far, and it has worked perfectly every time without any jams. The laminations come out smooth, clear, and professional-looking. For the price, I’m really impressed with the quality and performance. If you’re looking for an affordable laminator that gets the job done without any hassle, I would definitely recommend this one!

Love this thing. I use it for my kids school work, coloring pages, my own personal stuff. I haven’t had any issues with it. Heats up and cools down relatively quickly. I bought the sheets to go with it and I would buy this again if something ever happened to this one. Decent priced and was definitely a useful tool for me as a mother, homeschool teacher and a crafter.

This little laminator is wonderful. It is so easy to use and the quality of the lamination is great for my school projects. It works well for 8.5" x 11" or smaller items. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Works great. Easy to use and doesn’t jam.

Unfortunately I can't use! It's a U.S. Plug and it works with 120v 60hz 400w and 2,2 A. Nothing was mentioned. But even, the supplier could inform us and propose us a solution...........
