Best I have found for a diabetic dog.
Best food for 2 diabetic dogs thadogs. have found. Low fat content (one had pancreatitis), low calorie, and high fiber. The added bonus is that one is VERY picky and he eats it with a little warm water and 1/4 can of wet food (which is prescription and outrageously expensive). Has really made a huge difference in our glucose control. We did try the prescription dry (way morr expensive) and he wouldn't touch it.

Reliable dog food especially for diabetics
We used to have a labrador come to discover the food we fed her which was Purina type was slowly killing our dog due to the amount carbs that made our dog diabetic. We had to put her down due to the cost of buying insulin. We looked for another brand one that would not give health problems to our other dog which is a chihuahua. After recommendation from others, We tried this one and this brand hasn't disappointed us. We usually mix her dog food with Cesar dog paste. She hasn't gotten tired of eating it. If we tried to give her something else like human food her bowel movements would give her the runs.

Highly recommended for weight loss!
My Chihuahua was grossly overweight due to me overfeeding her. I decided to stop and become serious about her diet. She went from 14 pounds to 10 pounds in 4 months. She's like a puppy again.

Cheaper than prescription!
My chihuahua mixes have been, historically, a little chunky-monkey in their physique. In addition, last year one of them had a bout of pancreatitis. The vet prescribed a very expensive dog food that was super low fat and, once we'd run through that super expensive very small bag, I started looking around for more affordable alternatives. Dogs are definitely worth the cost of caring for them well! But life is expensive so sometimes we have to make do. I compared this Hill's Science Diet Light small kibble to the Rx kind and, of course, it's not exactly the same but the fat content range was only a little bit higher in this food than the Rx kind, so I talked to the vet and switched it up and y'all, best decision ever! Both dogs love this food, they're thriving on it, they've both slimmed down to their ideal weights for their ages/sizes, and no more pancreatitis issues. It may not work for you and definitely check with your vet but if your pups are ever in a similar position, maybe think about this as an option. I'll keep them on this food unless something else crops up medically. It's great!

My dog doesn’t like the taste
Our Vet was the one to suggest this particular product, Hills science, diet light for our overweight, miniature dachshund. At first, she enjoyed the taste, but then she refused to eat it. I questioned the vet about this and my concern about her going hungry and he said no if she doesn’t eat it pick it up and try later if she doesn’t eat it later pick it up and give it to her the next morning. And I know it’s very difficult to fast and I don’t like when my animals don’t get their food. I understand that they won’t starve themselves to death. If there’s food they’ll eventually eat it, but I just feel better seeing her eat it, especially if I pour a spoonful of juice from whatever I’m cooking over the top of It. She really hasn’t lost any weight. The appearance of the dog food just looks like a light tan colored kibble they’re hard. They have the nutrition that she’s supposed to have and it’s supposed to be a good quality feed with good ingredients and freshness. I just wish that she would eat what she’s supposed to each day so that she will lose weight

Would buy again
The price is good for this dog food. My dog has allergies and this works really well with him. There isn't really a smell to it other then normal dog food. I live the packaging since it's resealable and stays fresh.
