Lots of fun!
I had one of these as a child and had a lot of fun with it. Now I have kids of my own I was glad to see you can still get these. This boomerang is great! It's hard to get a perfect throw every time, so be prepared to run a lot to catch it or fetch it from the ground. It really does come back when you get the right throwing angle and speed! You need a large open area for this because it travels at least 150-200 feet. The triangular shape makes it easy to get stuck in trees, so use common sense. I got it stuck one time but managed to rescue it by throwing sticks at it until it got knocked down! The flight pattern of this boomerang is not a perfect arc like you might expect; it goes towards the ground, sweeps around to the left and up high, then curves right and down as you (hopefully!) catch it. For less than $10, this is a very fun toy that really works and will get you some exercise. It's a bargain. Buy one and have fun with it! It will take some trial and error to get the hang of it, but the thrill of getting a catch is worth all the effort!

Recommend for Kids of All Ages!
Just a quick intro: I am an adult who may never grow up when it comes to fun outdoor toys. I do not have very much experience with boomerangs but I decided to get one after reading the reviews. I do not have a big backyard but I was able to have a little fun with it. It did get caught up in the tree on more than one occasion but that's besides the point. Anyway, the real fun is when you can go to a park or somewhere with a lot of open area. My nephew and I had a blast with it at the park throwing it as hard as we could and at different angles. We also tried it out on a windy day and I thought it was going to fly out of the park! OK, I am exaggerating but it was a blast! There is a bit of a learning curve in order to get the boomerang to eventually land in the general area that you would like it to but it is a fun process getting to that point. Even when you think you've learned the science behind it, it may still take an extra turn or curve when you don't expect it too. I think it's the unpredictability is what gives this even more replay value. I highly recommend this to kids of all ages!

Works
I bought this for my three boys. They are 5, 8, and 10. It took a bit of practice but they were able to get it to come back and land next to them. It really does work and it is a whole lot of fun! My husband was hogging it most of the time so I may have to order another one. I took a star off for durability. They have had it one day and the silicone corner is separating from the frame but it still works perfectly. I guess I didn't expect it would last forever but I was not expecting that to happen so quickly. Still works perfectly and no more separation has happened since then. Maybe it was just a fluke. This toy is so fun. We spend hours throwing it and chasing it down. It takes some figuring out but that is all part of the fun.

it's a boomerang, not a flying disc
This is a boomerang - as the description says. It flies fine - for a boomerang. Don't expect tje gentle curve it to the right, throw it straight, curve it to the left behavior of a 'frisbee'. It's ok, just not what I expected. But the description says what it is, so my bad.

Video Demonstrations. Very fun and totaly worth the money. Be sure to buy at least two of them.
I bought this boomerang because I could get two for the price of a better one, and I'm glad I bought them both. Turns out, they not only work but they don't really hurt when you try to catch them, and you can easily throw two at once. Also, sometimes the boomerang comes back and lands softly like a "UFO" when the wind is right and with enough spin. When this happens it looks like a circular hole in the middle when looking up at it, and you can just stick your arm in there to catch it if you can't otherwise or just for more fun. When throwing two at once, all you need to do is grip a little tighter and "spoon" them together and they usually stick within 10 feet of each other. These are not too difficult to learn, I was able to in just a couple hours of practice with no instruction or tips other than what's printed on top of each one. A couple things it doesn't say on top... 1) When there's wind, simply make sure the wind is hitting your left side (90 degrees from wind direction). Unless of course you are throwing left-handed then the wind should be coming from the right. That way the wind helps it make the full 360 degrees so you can catch it before it starts to make an "S" maneuver away from the throwing location. 2) Two can easily be thrown at once, and they usually stick close together and land nearby each other if thrown correctly. 3) You can sometimes catch it easily with any type of long object at least 4" or thinner, such as a bat, golf club or even your arm

Beware of IMPORTS like the ones to the LEFT side of the cones. These imports DON'T fly the same way.
Potential buyers of Aerobie PRO Ring, Aerobie SUPERDISC, and Aerobie ORBITER enthusiasts, please take notice! These newest imported versions of all three are no longer of the same quality as the lastly made USA versions once were! The most recent imported versions all display the name AEROBIE in an extremely large font spelled out across the middle of the packaging on all three products. Take a close look at the attached photo and everything on the LEFT side of the cones are imported. I have had to return well over a dozen orders and counting as many online vendors still show, or worse yet, falsely or unwittingly still advertise that they are made in the USA or incorrectly show the pictures of the USA packaging on their website. I previously gave AEROBIE flying objects FIVE stars down to ONE star after realizing and verifying that all three are directly imported from China. I have vehemently flown and maneuvered all three imported versions and compared them to the discontinued lastly made USA versions side-by-side. While they look and feel identical, these impostors no longer fly as far, glide with the same trajectory, or can be confidently maneuvered anywhere near, as well as to how the lastly made Palo Alto California types still can fly. I had no idea Aerobie was bought out by SwimWays, which Spin Master Corp owns, about four years ago and decided to outsource the manufacturer overseas. Hopefully, with enough pressure from both Aerobie enthusiasts like yourself or their distributors, Spin Master Corp may reconsider and restore their higher quality ingredients and specifications back onto their AEROBIE flying objects once again. Otherwise, only those of us who are still fortunate enough to have these lastly USA-made relics may genuinely experience what the AEROBIE magical flying experience was all about. Sincerely, Aerobie Guy

Very fun beach toy!
It takes a little practice, but what a blast! It's almost like magic how it flies! Really big circle! You need a big area! Great for the beach! I've got 3 now and Multi-Launch is way fun! Catch all 3 and impress your friends! It takes a good strong throw, at the right tilt, with a little breeze coming in to your left cheek, but this boomerang flies like no other. It starts off straight, then curves left, comes around, then levels off, floats up a bit, then floats down, giving you time to run under it for the catch. Even if you miss, it will land somewhere close to you, as it floats down. If you nail the throw, you won't have to move much to get the catch! This makes it easier than conventional boomerangs! Conventional boomerangs just rip around, fast, level off slightly, and either come right at you fast or miss you and then you have to go get it. And yes, you only get one Orbiter, and yes the color is random unless you contact the seller immediately when you order. And yes you need a good strong throw, so probably not the best choice for small kids. It also need some practice and patience to get it right - but once you do, it's amazing! And yes, it's really engineered only for a strong right-handed throw. Lefties will be significantly challenged. But the technique of the throw is simple, so lefties might be able to learn the right-handed throw.

Hard to learn, but fun!
Works pretty well, but very hard to get to return anywhere near the thrower without tons of practice. We are not experienced at boomarang throwing, but still have a lot of fun with this. When you get a good return it is amazing. Just plan for lots of walking and make sure you have a huge field to play in - not a street or an average backyard. You need at least half a football field, but less room than I needed for my traditionally-shaped boomarang I used as a kid. That one felt quite different, turned more gradually, and flew somewhat different patterns. This one turns upward more sharply and doesn't have the momentum that one did, and tends to wander more due to the lower weight. On the other hand, this one is easier to get to turn around, so is more fun for kids even though it almost never actually returns towards them. Watch some online videos to get an idea of how to throw this!

Great fun once you learn how to throw it properly
First of all, make sure you order the Aerobie Orbiter that's made in the USA and not in China as the US one is definitely superior quality. Read the instructions on the back of the packaging to learn the proper technique of throwing it or watch some YouTube videos that demonstrate how to do so. There's a YouTube instructional video by the inventor of the Orbiter. It will definitely come back to you when thrown properly but you'll most likely have to move or run around a bit to try and catch it as the wind can alter the flight path at times. It's a great alternative to the Aerobie Pro Ring when you don't have someone else to play with and you'll still get a good workout at the same time. My personal best for throw and catch is 8 in a row but I also like to throw it hard which makes it fly further out but then harder to judge the catching location. I think it's a fantastic activity and product. :)
