I believe it does work as the m classic has a retro option so it'll most likely enhance the clarity but not much else.

How much better would the picture be with an upscaler like the frameister attached to this cable?

If you are running an older gaming system, you will want to get an upscale. That is if you want as close to HDMI as you can get.

Has anyone who bought this tried it on an elgato hd60 for streaming? i get a good picture, but the sound is badly distorted. looking for a solution.

I have this exact same issue. I only want this device to capture xbox gameplay. The audio is awful. Gonna try a component to hdmi adapter since I have my xbox component cables and they worked fine on a TV i have that still has hookups for it.
