This book is written for the test analyst who wants to achieve advanced skills in test analysis, design, and execution. With a hands-on, exercise-rich approach, this book teaches you how to define and carry out the tasks required to put a test strategy into action. Learn how to analyze the system, taking into account the user's quality expectations. Additionally, learn how to evaluate system requirements as part of formal and informal reviews, using an understanding of the business domain to determine requirement validity. You will be able to analyze, design, implement, and execute tests, using risk considerations to determine the appropriate effort and priority for tests. You will learn how to report on testing progress and provide necessary evidence to support your evaluations of system quality. Review: The gospel of software testing according to Rex - This is the perfect study guide for the ISTQB Advanced Tester exam. Read it, live it, love it, consume it, and you will pass. It's written by Rex Black--a god in the world of software testing. How can you go wrong? Oh, there IS a way you can go wrong. If you try to reconcile what is in this book--this "bible"--to what you to on the job, you will be sorely disappointed when it comes exam time. Do yourself a favor and FORGET what you do at work. Focus on the book--there is only the book. Take the exam from that perspective and you'll do fine. No, I am not related to Rex Black, nor am I his friend. I've never even seen the man. But his books really are gospel in the world of software testing. If you haven't read his works, you are no software tester. Review: Good book - I recommend this book for people who deals with software testing. Pre requirement is Rex black Foundation book. Enjoy your reading.

Used book as preparation for ISTQB advanced test analyst exam
I picked up this book for self study for the ISTQB advanced test analyst exam. I passed the exam. I thought the examples were way too long and cumbersome to work through. The book served the purpose and I passed the exam. Three stars.

I found ISTQB site's syllabus and Sample Questions / Answers were more useful than this book
I bought this book for more sample questions and answers for my ISTQB Advanced level Test analyst exam. But,the sample questions in this book are very complex and not even close to those questions you get in the actual exam. While preparing for the exam,I found ISTQB site's syllabus and Sample Questions / Answers were more useful than this book.

A good source for the ISTQB Certification exam
If you intend to expand your knowledge and advance your carreer in testing towards the ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst, this book is a "must have". Of course this will not be enough to ensure success at the exam, but it will guide your studies and point you in the right direction. There are not so many books on functional Test Analysis that this should be overlooked. As Editor and part of the author team of the ISTQB Advanced Level syllabus, I can vouch that this book fits the bill and covers the expectations set by the authors. Enjoy reading it. Bernard Homes

Another mediocre book by Rex Black.
The book is poorly written and contains lot of repeated information. The style of writing is not at all interesting. As I did not take the Advanced Test Analyst exam, I can not say how this book helps to pass the exam. But, my guarantee to you is that you can not enjoy reading this book. Not at all recommended to learn the subject. The book written by Graham Bath and JudyMcKay is very neat and interesting to read. Once again, I can not tell you which book helps you to clear the ISTQB exam(Advanced level).

Advanced Analyst
After reading recommended books for the first two stages, reading this book could get a bit boring as it tends to add sometimes unnecessary details. However, with some perseverance you begin to understand and go with the authors style of writing which is rather conversational. I am yet to take the exam so I cannot at this stage say if this book is an excellent preparatory tool.
