This was the right choice. Can't risk a $700+ device hanging from an inferior lanyard & mount. This aint the case. The ring that screw into the controller remind you of tow hooks. They SOLIDLY lock into the bottom of the controller. The nylon ribbon is sturdy enough, not like your gonna swing the controller from it or add any extra weight. I highly recommend. Just wish it didn't have writing on the ribbon, not a deal breaker through.

Strap is a strong, but no frills sling strap. For 1 or 2 flight durations (battery-wise) it is plenty sufficient for holding protecting your expensive DJI controller against a drop. However, if you are going to have it around your neck for longer durations, you might want to find a neck cushion to put on your strap. The biggest plus with this strap is that it insures you don't drop your $650 DJI Smart Controller and break it.

Don’t have to use my phone

It's OK. There is a thinner spot on the ring where you can detach it.

Works as advertised, no problems noted.

HORRIBLE AND POORLY MADE...please dont make the same mistake I did by trusting this product with your very expensive controller. 1st problem is you cannot remove the clips from the round metal attachment, as the loop is too thick, so your straps are stuck forever to the screws. 2nd, my controller had to take its first fall because this product is poorly made. Wait for something better to come out. No quality control... 1 star!
